I wish I had just gone to Lowe's or Home Depot from the start. My experience with this company left me feeling completely ripped off. Afterward, I started looking into the company and was shocked by what I found. They're not BBB accredited, their ratings are very low (around 1.4 on both BBB and Consumer Affairs), It honestly surprises me that this isn't more widely known. Out of about 700 reviews on the BBB, about 600 of them are 1 star. Probably because zero stars aren't an option. For a company of this size, it raises serious questions about how these kinds of customer experiences continue without more accountability. Yah know, this isn't the biggest and most grandiose Menards that has ever been built, but it's still a rock solid and classic Menards. The staff seems mostly made up of just regular folks who barley want to be there so don't expect much in terms of expert help, but if you know what you want, this store has everything you need and is usually well stocked. Per the Menards way, you get excellent pricing + their rebate program for most of the year. I honestly come here once a week, if not more often. Whereas I go to Lowes maybe once a month and Home Depot once a quarter, if that - even with having both Lowes and Home Depot credit cards. This Menards meets if not exceeds 95% of my needs. After purchasing everything for a complete kitchen upgrade in August, cabinets arrive in a month. That was fine. Countertop in 2 months. Faucet arrive in 6 months. By this time, I had to purchase a different faucet to use the kitchen. So when the faucet arrives 6 months later, they can not do a return to credit card because it's past 90 days. Want to give a credit. I'm still waiting for my rebate of 1000.00. So why are you not returning my money? Saying in store rebate is still out for 60 days. I just want my money returned from your fault of 6 months out for item to come in. Now, it has to wait 4 to 6 weeks for corporate to approve. It may not even get approved, and I just get a store credit. If at all possible run don't shop here. Lots of smoke up your a.. Everything is a scam.to put extra cash in their pockets. Save BIG money.....well... maybe sometimes. Saving money isn't the appeal and will definitely not be the only thing that will bring you back to Menards. Menards has, almost literally, everything. You need cereal? They got it. You need a kitchen sink? They got it. Toilet seat? In the plumbing section. Lawn Furniture? In the garden section. Redoing your closet? They got you covered. Everything you can think of, and more. Like many of the big DIY stores, the top three in our area if you can think of them, they have a great selection. If you shop around, Menards prices are usually fairly good. Where they are similar to the big DIY stores is that it's almost nearly impossible to find help, at times. Now, the big DIY stores do suck when it comes to being able to find somebody to help you, but Menards is probably the best of The Big Three. Would I go back? Absolutely. read more

I love Menards for plants and gardening supplies! It's certainly my go-to store for anything yard related. They have so much to choose from. They also have a range of other items and supplies you can find here including groceries, outdoor furniture and so much more. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Any questions I have, somebody is able to answer. They have all types of plants and a wide range to choose from. You can get plants that are already started or they also provide seeds to start your own. I love their plants and they are good quality. They last for whatever their season is (annual or perennial). Overall, I love Menards for yard stuff and will certainly continue to use them! read more

Recently went shopping here for tile. Lots of selection in various colors, pricing, styles. Unfortunately, we saw a very small sample of one we thought we might like and wanted to see the actual tile itself. They often present differently that way. They didn't have that in stock. Couldn't buy a box at any store and return it if we didn't like it because they were made to order. Disappointed. They do have a huge inventory of really almost everything you might need though. read more

I came in to Menards this morning to get some bicycle hooks. I was in the complete opposite side of the store. There was an employee helping another guest at the time, so I didn't ask her as I didn't want to interrupt her assistance with the other guest. I was with my 2 year old at the time and she noticed that I was having trouble looking for something, she politely excused herself to ask me if I needed help and answered with very specific directions on where to locate the item. The store is always clean and the associates are always pleasant. Even though they always seem busy, they take the time to help people out, and that goes a long way! read more

Menards always strikes me as a bit cheap and tacky, and I'm not sure why. They have many of the same items as Home Depot and Lowe's but everything comes across a bit tacky in their stores. Two things I learnt at another of their stores: I learnt something interesting when I got my kitchen countertops. They didn't assemble the L-shaped piece. Sure, it was less expensive and it was easier to load into the pickup truck but if you're working alone, it will be quite a chore to finish the countertop yourself. I'm not sure the money saved over Lowe's was worth it. Something else that was interesting was their take on Veteran's discounts. They grudgingly offer the discount *only* on regular-priced merchandise. You get nothing extra on sale or clearance merchandise, even though Lowe's will give it freely. I was looking at flooring tonight, both laminates and carpeting. One thing that's different is that they offer some ultra low priced merchandise. Do you trust it? I don't know. It might be made from the same materials in the same factory as the more expensive products with the 10 year warranty. Just like Home Depot and Lowe's, they have a variety of merchandise, but they go a bit bigger on the patio furniture and Christmas decorations. Plus, they have food, including milk. read more

I visit Michigan a couple of times a year and always here, "Save big money at Menard's!" on the commercials there. My brother and I always sang this song as a joke since then. Then all of a sudden my parents went to Menard's. I had no idea they expanded to the Cincinnati area. It was located in a brand new strip mall in Hamilton, so it isn't exactly close enough to go to from my apartment in Cincinnati. They had a great selection of items. But even worse, an elderly gentleman in front of us in line clearly needed assistance, but the young nitwit working the cash register made him bag everything himself, while THREE other nitwits stood around doing nothing nearby. I recently purchased a village building for a christmas village my wife has. It did not fit no look right so we decided to return it to the store. I had the receipt showing the price paid and it was in un opened condition. The store refused to give me the price paid and only give what the final prices were at the time, this even with a receipt. They stated it is the company policy in which they have on a big board above the return desk. Who goes to the return desk when shopping? They need to have the policy in the isles where they have the items. When i asked to talk to a manager, i was given the same story, i even asked for store credit and the most they would give is about 50% of what I paid. I will no longer shop at Menards and i caution anyone to look at their return policy first. I'd never ever been inside a Menards and the only thing I knew about them before last week was that ear worm of a jingle their commercials use. When I stepped into the store I was overwhelmed with the sheer size of the store! No wonder the parking lot was huge! This place can handle a crowd. I went on a week night and it was pretty empty, but still had plenty of super helpful sales people! I wandered around a bit and eventually asked for directions to the dehumidifier (what I was actually there to buy). During my wandering I found plenty of gadgets that I didn't know I needed, but after finding them I couldn't live without them! Everything I saw was priced reasonably and overall it was a great experience! It's a bit out of the way for me, but if I need a big ticket item I'll surly be back! read more

Menards is basically the Wal-Mart for DIYers. It's gigantic and full of inexpensive stuff you didn't know you needed/wanted. For instance, my husband and I went one afternoon for a furnace filter (oh, the joys and wonders of home ownership) and walked out with the filter AND these really cheap floor mats to place strategically about our home since we have a drooly dog (to quote my favorite movie of all time, she "has health problems"). Since then, we've returned for a toilet seat and two extension cords (unrelated purchases). The place is not intuitively laid out but rarely do we encounter lines, the sales people are friendly and helpful and the music they play always has a funky beat and I can (and do) bug out to it! read more

I went to Menards today and they told me I had to wear a mask. I told them my Dr recommended I don't wear a mask because I have asthma (and asthmatics really shouldn't wear them) and my pharmacy is out of my asthma medicine so if I had an episode because of the mask, I wouldn't have what I needed to help me and I was just tested for Covid and I tested negative and I even showed them my results so I can't give it to anyone and they still said I had to wear a mask to shop. I told him he was wearing his mask improperly and had his nose exposed. He said he lowered it to talk to me, so apparently he talks through his nose and since I was tested and know I can't give him covid but he hadn't been tested he could be putting me at risk and giving it to me. So, tell me what a company is really doing by forcing people to wear a mask that could be putting their health at risk when it is not mandated by the government and wanting to charge them money for it. Look at their employees and how many are wearing it improperly but they want to force me to wear it even though it would actually be unhealthy for me. They will not receive another dime of my money and a lot of my family and friends are following suit. Not to mention they don't give a flying fig for veterans. Go spend your money at Lowe's and Home Depot. They are more respectful of their patrons. read more

Hmm, where to start. I had a huge incident here once (I will cover that later) I think they have great ample parking. When you enter and navigate the store it's very neat, clean, and tidy. I think the staff is very dis-engaged and don't have a selling environment, nor do they usually approach you and ever ask if you need anything you'll always have to search (sometimes high and low) for someone to help you. I've made many purchases from them and been here about 20 times. I've held their Menards card for 3 years but it doesn't have many benefits either (minus the annual birthday gift) but the interest rate is high, and sometimes they have good deals with a percentage refund on a store credit, or no interest for a certain period of time but on normal purchases don't charge it. I had an incident once with some recliners I bought from there, we had them maybe 6 weeks and the one frame completely broke, and the others reclining leg rest wouldn't ever close. We took them back, and the process to return anything large is just ridiculous, we had to get a return authorization from the front desk, then take it to some security guard for their dock who inspected the paperwork like we were importing things from overseas on a ship, and finally clears you to the dock, where they take things from the car and then sign your return authorization, and you take it back to the front (but not before the security guard inspects your car for possible goods you may have picked up with in their dock). Once back up they process the refund. But with these chairs the general manager came up (I think his name was Andy) and he came up and threw a fit, he said we caused the damage to the chairs to get a refund (why would anyone do that when I got them on a huge sale?) So he refused the refund and told me he was reversing the refund they processed because he didn't agree with it and told me to get my stuff. So I told him it was done, I had the paperwork and it was within their policy and left... He ended up reversing the refund to my Menards card and I had to dispute it with them which took months, finally they sided with their own company (go figure). I went back to get my chairs and finally the manager struck some sort of deal and let me take them back and gave me a small discount. It was just a hue fiasco that could have been avoided with people who know customer service not inexperienced teenagers ran under a German dictator. Get normal things for repairs, don't make major investments or buy furniture here... and if for some reason you're here for milk go to a grocery store not a hardware store, they don't need to carry meals. read more

I love saving money. Menards beats all other prices and add in the 11% checks you get back - AWESOME. I get all my household cleaners, detergent, now even grocery items. I can knock out my home improvement list in one trip. They have materials for every home project. Haven not been disappointed with any of them. Even re did my kitchen out of here. Menards is unlike any other DIY store. The variety of products they carry is amazing. Anything from food to Garage doors. We saved money on everything we purchased as compared to both Home Depot and Lowes. The staff is excellent. There is always somone asking if you need help and if you do they get it for you immediately. Ordered a grage door with someone from another department and they actually knew what they were doing. Contrast this with 15 minutes tracking down someone at Home Depot to cut a board and waiting for 20 minutes while they tried to track down the one person who knew how to turn on the saw. Their lighting section is easily twice as big as Home Depot. When I came to pick up the garage door I had 2 people loading it in my truck in 10 minutes. My only problem with Menards is that there isn't one closer to my home. read more

I experienced horrible customer service today. I tried to return an item bought a few weeks ago and I had my receipt. I never opened the box. I paid 92 dollars for it. 69 of it was paid on my master card and 27 of it was paid on a visa gift card that I received as a Christmas present from my family to use to remodel our bath room. I bought a bathroom light/fan and it did not fit. Anyways, The store would only return my 92 dollars to a merchandise credit or I could take the 69 dollars back that was paid on my own master card & be screwed and loose my 27 dollars from my gift card. This does not make ANY sense whatsoever. I did not want a full credit of 92 dollars that I paid with my own money & had my receipt. I did everything I was suppose to do when you return an item. I have a right to my money and my 27 dollars from my visa gift card. It's always about making the customer happy or you get bad reviews like this. I was told they could not do a price over ride because their registers will not let them. BULL!!!! I will never shop here again or tell anyone to shop here. Menards may be best prices, but not worth the customer service bull & general manager lying to me about visa gift cards and that visa would send me a check in the mail.. what?!?! Or that the parent who bought me the gift card will get the money back onto their account and I mentioned that my in laws bought the gift card and he said, oh i'm so sorry and was laughing while doing so. uh.. is this some kind of hint that you think I dislike my in laws???? idk. confused. Shopped in this store a few times and have always walked out happy. Pricing seems fair on most items but some things I still prefer lowes for. Plenty of parking and the employees are always helpful and attentive. They don't harass you, but they are around if you need them. When you ask where something is, they walk you to it rather than point and give you a long run down of directions. The store is clean and prices are clearly marked. I have never tried to return anything, but I hear they have some stiff policies...may want to check into that before making a large purchase. All in all, I like the store. Lowes will always be my first choice, but this store is still on my list when in that area! read more

I had my first experience at menards over a month ago. i'll never go to anywhere else! I had no problems finding someone to help me locate what I needed and when I was in check out and realized I had forgotten a toilet seal, the nice young man volunteered to bring it to me and insisted when I declined ( I didn't want him to feel like a errand boy). I was pessimistic about ever receiving an 11% rebate for my purchase, seems like that stuff never works. The rebate was easy to do and I received it! It was like finding 30 bucks in your pants pocket while doing laundry. Great service and enthusiastic help. Thanks for great experience and you have earned my business. read more
