THIEVES! After 5 years of boycotting them after their disgraceful behavior in our disastrous 2020 derecho, I decided to give them another chance. Bought a furnace filter. Furnace man told me it was the wrong density (MERV #). I went in to exchange, it was a cash purchase and I'd lost the receipt. I paid $37 for the filter. They said they could only refund $19 in the form of a store credit. Because "policy". Item was new and still in shrink wrap. I will NEVER set foot in a Menards again. They need to stop posting final price after rebate when you get no money back after the "rebate" Menard's advertises products with a before and after price with the rebates. After looking at the fine print you save no money and the final price is a lie. You get no money back after the rebate, but instead get store credit. read more

So I have found things here in the past, but I've gone to the Garden Center lately and I keep running into the same guy and I'll ask him where something is located and he will reply with "That sold out in a day, no one knows how to order anything here. We are always out." And "Here where it goes and it is empty" and "We never have what people are looking for, every year the same story" I started laughing when I walked up to him today and asked from the beginning I bet your out of sprinkler and he walked over to the aisle and told me how it was full and it's now empty but if you want a hand held spray gun, that's always here. I always go to Menards for building supplies or paint or for anything really that I need with my house or garden. This time at Menards was my first time placing an order...I purchased 7 bags of premium white rock for my house exterior design. It was very easy to place my order and then I went to purchase my order and then I drove around to the back of Menards, and I was able to easily pickup my 7 bags of rock. Overall this was a very pleasant experience. I will definitely continue to use Menards for my house and garden needs! Great store with lots of merchandise for all different kinds of occasions (gardening, roofing, picnicing, building, etc...). read more

The girl working Customer service on Saturday night made it her business to yell at me and my husband from the counter to inform us we needed to have. On a MASK. as we stood there talking to another friend we bumped into she left her post at customer service and informed us we we wasting our time in the store because the checkers will not check you out without a MASK. so I pulled a old dirty MASK out of my pocket and put it under my chin. Then while shopping took it off and no one cared and guess what they took my MONEY at the checkout. this is not about health anymore. It's about power. SAD. About the Storage that Menards runs. The snow melt completely ruined half of what i owned. There was deep standing water in totes and anything else that could hold water. I lost thousand and thousands of dollars worth of items including  pictures, taxes and sentimental things. When I mentioned this I was told that I rent at my own risk. While I can understand this, keeping water off your things is the number one duty of a storage. my stuff would have been better off uncovered sitting in a field than what was done to me. read more

I had an emergency the other night and had to run to Menards after work to grab about 20 Ethernet cables, (didn't have time to make them myself). I parked, walked in and saw the sign for networking directly on my right. I grabbed the cables, went to the check out lane and was out in less than 5 minutes. Awesome. First off, the 11% rebate is not a rebate, it's a coupon to be used for a future purchase. I sent in receipts for a rebate of $42.57, they were all valid and within the time frame, to qualify. I received a rebate coupon for 44 cents. Why would I spend $.60 in postage for $.44? I'm doing a complete home remodel and just getting started. My next project is two bathrooms and a large deck (products to be purchased elsewhere). Quality of products is better, at other stores, but I thought the rebate would help. As Big as Menards has got over the years it always feels like the same place every time I walk into one, my problem with them is it doesn't ever seem like I can find what I need here maybe because it's such a huge store and they don't have enough employees around to help anyone? Menards - Building Supplies Near Me - Marion, Iowa

This is the best big box home improvement store in Cedar Rapids by a country mile. Menards is much larger, has more products, and I can almost always find everything needed to finish a project. For that reason I seldom go to the higher priced "orange" or "blue" do-it-yourself places. The employees are helpful and I've not had a problem getting friendly assistance. Just like the other stores, there are plenty of department experts to guide you. Regarding lumber quality - I've been able to get excellent quality boards here for less money than other places. The selection is much better, too. Remember - if you want the best of the best, it costs more. You won't get select grade boards for stud grade prices. Menards offers credit cards but they don't hound you like the pesky "orange depot" people down the street. All they ask me is usually "Will this be on a Menards card?" which is fine. I don't have any credit cards, don't need 'em, don't want 'em. At least here they respect that. (See my review of the Sear*s store... scary!) If I had to say there is one thing that irritates me a little it is that there are not always enough cashiers. Signs say they will open another lane if two or more people are waiting (the same goes for "big orange" down the street) but often that doesn't happen... Oh well. If you want to be treated well, find what you need, and pay the right price for it, go to Menards or look at their website. That's how I purchased nearly all the materials to build my camper. Bought about $450 in deck hardware. During build realized I was missing a couple items so called in to see if I left a bag. Nope. Stopped in a couple days later and Front End Chris took a few minutes to check video and see the bag dropped behind something. Refunded me with a smile. This Menards on sw Cedar Rapids and for that fact their whole return process is ridiculous. I purchased Halloween products on sat 23rd took home 45 minutes away... husband wanted me to purchase another light when I was close to that side of town and just happened to be there on Monday 25th... IN which all the Halloween decorations were on sale....so normally you can get the price that you were overcharged two days prior... but not with Menards their policy is you must return it and repurchase it or they will only give store credit... I f paid by cash I should get cash back! Now if the return policy was to return the product couldn't they just returned it off the receipt and give me the difference! No that's not their policy because they want you to spend your money only there well I defiantly won't any more.....hope they rot in hell greedy bastards! read more

This is a big store with a lot of selection. I am a contractor in the Marion area and find the building services desk a lot of help. If you ever have any questions always go to the building services desk don't ask one of the employees as they are sometimes under qualified to be answering certain project questions. I can always find what I'm looking for here and if you can't find it they will special order it for you. They always seem to be well stocked on items. What more can you ask for from a hardware giant! read more

We have been in this store at least 3-4 times weekly for the past couple months. 95% of our hardware/building needs are purchased here. This store stays pretty busy so, yes, sometimes you have to look for or wait for assistance. I'd like to think there are plenty of good reasons for that. The pricing is typically better than the competitors' pricing. I have only two complaints. If you order something, they often give you an approximate date for arrival. That'd be fine, but they don't call you when it comes in. I asked about this, and was told that they only send those alerts via email. Too bad they didn't tell me that when I ordered. Instead, I called three times before I found out that "it actually arrived a couple days ago." Also, and this is true of HD as well, the entrance and exits doors are the worst design imaginable. You park by the entrance, then you have to go out the exit about half a football field away! So no matter what you have to walk. We have a 5 month old baby, and this really makes things difficult. read more

I went to this store shortly after it opened @ 6:30 am. Was unable to find the electrical area of the store, searching the aisles and signage. Had 10-12 employees walk by me, right past me without offering help or assistance. No "can I help find something?" or "looking for something?", not even eye contact. Just walk right on by even when it was obvious that I couldn't find what I needed. I skipped the electrical and went to lumber, but again, could not find what I what I was looking for. 5-6 more employees walked right past me like the others before them, no time for me, the customer. So, went to the customer service counter looking for help (and to inform them of the lack of attention of there employees). Supervisor at the counter, instead of offering help, simply made excuses for the lack of attention of employees, "Well its the morning shift and their busy doing there work". Wow! Really? Really! At that point I dropped the items I was carrying on the counter in front of her and walked out. As disconcerting that the state of retail is in, with the landscape being changed by online shopping, I've come to believe that its less Amazon and more self inflicted actions that have caused brick and mortar's demise. read more
