I guess it's new, shiny, and pretty. I find the two story layout is a pain and hard to get around for what I need. I'm sure it's fun if you're in there for a few things. I love menards and this one is brand new, but the people that work there are absolutely horrible people not to mention employees. Nobody knows anything about anything and the attitudes are absolutely inexcusable. Ghetto I bought a sliding patio door and had to ask for help 3 times to load it in my truck. When help arrived the sent a 90 pound 18 year old kid. Needless to say I did the lifting into my truck and asked him to hold it while I strapped it down. As soon as I let go to grab the straps the 72 x 80 glass sliding patio comes crashing down on the back of my truck. When I explain what had happened to the "manager" he had the same ghetto attitude as everyone else in the store and blamed me and did not try to do anything to make things right. Only giving three stars as a generosity. Wife bought something that you could get at Lowe's or WalMart for half the price. I travel all the way there to return it with a receipt and you either wait 5-7 days from what they told me to get the money in my account or they give store credit. Can't give cash unless you have the card even when it was debit and when asked why, several employees had conflicted reasons why you must have a card. Why the receipt and what was bought isn't enough but it wouldn't surprise me if they start asking for blood and a seman sample when returning something. read more

My daughter and I bought a new Amana top-loading washing machine at this Menard's today. The store is very huge, very clean, very well organized, and the people we encountered were very cheerful and helpful. We had a terrific salesman help us buy the machine we wanted. He was very pleasant, very knowledgeable, and very attentive. On our way out, I noticed this Menard's even carries some grocery items. They seem to carry everything! I had my cart in front of me and I walked what seemed like an eternity, but it was great. I'm 92 and I need all the exercise I can get. We did use the new escalator that accommodated our shopping carts because the washers were on the second floor. It was unbelievable! I didn't want to leave. I want to go back there soon. I don't think there is a thing in the world that one won't be able to find at this Menard's! read more

****PLEASE READ YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF.**** This menards is the worst Menards of them all. On 05/14/17 I went to the menards in Melrose Park IL to buy some doors. When I got there they didnt have the doors primed so we had to special order them. I was fine with that. After ordering the three doors the manager of the department tells me that the doors will be delivered to the store and will be ready by 05/25/17. 2 doors will be ready on 05/24/17 and 1 of them will be 05/25/17. I said thats fine no problem. On 05/29/17 I borrowed my friends van because I dont have a car to pick them up and went to the menards to get the doors. Again I went there at 5/29 and the manager had told me they would be ready at 5/25. When I go there the employee told me that the doors arent there yet and they are at their distribution center. I was not happy because they told me they would be there 5/25 and even in the system of menards it said they would be there 5/25. After that the employee said nothing we can do. I asked for a manager and her name was Tanya(the worst customers service in the world and I dont even know how she is a leader or a manager. ) Tanya the manager came and she said how can I help you. I told her according to your system and what the manager that ordered my doors it says the doors should be here. I am here 4 days later than the estimated date say they should have been here and now they arent here. I told her I dont need a discount or refund and I said nicely that since I can not use my friends car again can you guys please take care of the delivery for free because it is your guys responsibility that they arent there. She told me that the computer says estimated which means it can come after and again everything that came out of her mouth was rude and very unprofessional on how she was talking. I told her estimated means with in the dated that it is estimate it means either by the date it is estimated or before that date. She comes back with smart comment and all rude" thats the first time I have heard that. So I asked her according to you since it says estimated time 5/25 and it can mean after than it means I can end up getting my doors next year or god knows when. And she laughed and said well idk what to tell you. I will not refund your or give your discount and I will not delivery for free. I am done here and walked away. This is supposed to me a manager of the store. Actually she was the assistant General manager because thats how she was introduced. So I told her I will call next day for higher manager and Mike the Assistant General manager called and didnt even apologize for Tanya his assistant actions and unprofessionalism and simple said that sorry just because the doors arent here in time doesnt mean we should refund you or credit you. Its not our responsibility. This got me really mad that I pay for these doors and they playing with my money. My money is being treated as they please and they are not delivering on their promise or products. Without us customers Menards wouldnt be in business. And yet you going to say its not our responsibility. Then I asked to speak to the highest manager which was THE general manager of the store and Efran I think was his name called and he said the same thing we can do anything for you sorry we wont do free delivery. He said I can give your corporate number to complain but at the end they will come to us and ask us. So I did not call corporate because they are going to do nothing for me as the General manager stated pretty much. Now I had to get another car to get the doors yesterday. At this point I dont want delivery for free I need to be compensated for rudeness and not having the doors in time as they told me they would. This guys are horrible customer service and they are just bad for the menards business. I feel bad that other actual good people out there dont have jobs and people like Tanya Mike and Efran have high end jobs to play with our money as they please and lie and be rude and disrespectful. After spending $5000 in 1 month and I know others spend more this Menards as company lost my business in which I will need to spend that much again. Home Depot it is. I would really like to give this store a good review. The store is enormous, has just about anything you might be looking for (the only reason I give two stars instead of one). The problem is that every visit is searching for a needle in a haystack. Departments are void of employees to help finding things. I suspect this is a management issue, either hiring as few employees as possible, or not doing what is necessary to keep good employees around. I really wish this store was better staffed. I'd rather drive 20 min to this store than go to Home Depot down the street (I loathe Home Depot). read more

Menards failed to deliver a door jamb for a patio door I purchased from them. I now have to pay a carpenter to fix what would have been avoided had I gotten the jamb. Menards offered to give me a store credit for the jamb. The carpentry work is 5 times the cost of the jamb. The sales guys were clueless about basic facts required to order a door. The delivery of the product was just as unimpressive. I would avoid this store. read more

Went out to buy window shades for my kids bedrooms. 4 shades 33inches wide. Ask the store clerk if he can cut them for me since the shades I picked out are 35inches wide. I should of checked the shades before I purchased them because I got 3 shades back at 33 1/2 inches wide and one shade at 32 1/2 inches wide. Now I'm headed back to return them in below zero temp. And a total of 10 miles. This job should of been completed already. read more

Menards is a great place to go for hardware supplies for the reason that the employees are kind and patient with there customers. They help until they find you the right equipment for the job. I go to Menards every two weeks with my father to find tools or tool attachments so he can replace the ones he has lost or broken. Every time I go I enjoy the help from the workers because they will know what you're looking for most of the time. I enjoy going to my nearby Menards. read more

Definitely a big improvement from it's old location. There is tons of parking but this place is always packed. This summer I have done a lot of home renovations and Menards has made the whole process so much easier. The store is very organized and has a bigger selection of products than the home depot in Northlake. The quality of the workers is very inconsistent. I usually spend ten minutes looking for a worker that is knowledgeable about home projects. I hope this location can keep up the quality of the service for the years to come. read more

The store is clean and we are able to find what we need here. Good prices/sales as well. My one complaint about Menard's in general, but particularly at this location, is the Direct TV sales people. They really pounce on you here. Sorry, but I don't feel like fending them off every time I need to buy home improvement products! They are hard to avoid because they set up shop right in front of the escalators. Fortunately we discovered the elevator which is toward the back of the store. I know it shouldn't be a big deal to just say, "No thank you", which is what I do. It's just kind of annoying. read more

This store is poorly run. I arrived here to get a truck around 11am this morning. Both trucks had just been rented out so I waited around for around 1.5 hours. When the first truck arrived back I got in line and was informed that I had to wait for management to get done inspecting the truck. I moved out of the way so others could be assisted and by doing so I also gave up my righys to being next in line for the truck. This falls on both the front desk associate assisting me and management. Get your act together and take care of your customers better. This makes me question this company's values and how the believe customers should be treated. read more

This Menards and menards customer service is the worst I ever experienced. I spent cash/debit card for a couple of hundred dollars and when I went to return $35 worth of flooring they would not give me a cash or a credit on my debit card only a store credit. The General manager Efrain Contreras said there was nothing he could do and told me he reports to no one when I asked for his manager, so I guess he is Mr.Menard. They give you a customer service number to call where no humans answer, you have to send your request in writing. So beware when you spend money at this Menards on North Ave in Melrose Park they don't want to give it back. read more

I had an extremely disappointing experience and don't ever plan to shop here again or recommend them to my relatives or friend. I bought a screen door which my husband had to return because the locks on the door did not work. They refused to refund our money choosing instead to give us a store voucher. We didn't trust purchasing another door or anything else. We will have to contact the corporate office and/ or sue to get our $325.00 back. This store is actually quite good, well stocked, and meets most of my needs. But the other day I needed some plywood sheets (price was just right), but they had no service to rough cut the sheets! The worst customer service experience ever. Placed a special order sliding glass exterior door r/o 72x80. Brought home a 60x80. Brian and Chris are managers at this store and completely passed the buck onto the manufacturer and didn't take responsibility or priority of this mistake. I had to buy an instock door that was promised to be delivered at 1p the next day. I had scheduled work around placing this door for 1p. The driver gets to my location at 6p and I have missed the opportunity to place the door but I have now a gaping hole in my house and little security for my home. The driver has attitude about where I want the door placed because he says it is "heavy"!! They even give me attitude about taking back to Menards the original door that was sent to me that had the wrong dimensions. I just can't believe the customer service here. I will never buy from Menards again. First and last time placing an order at Menards. read more

We are not handy people, we know that, we don't try and DIY big home improvement projects. We went into Menards because we needed to replace the side door on our garage. We browsed the door department for a little while before we decided we needed an employee to explain a few things. After 15 minutes of searching for ANY employee in or around the door department we finally found someone who could "help." We had a few basic questions (materials, sizes, framed vs slab, etc.) and we were met with short one-word answers and eye rolls. The employee was rude, unfriendly and unhelpful. We left with a door that turned out not to fit the space we needed it to so we had to load it up and return it anyways. As much as our kids loved the magnetic escalator, we won't be visiting your store again anytime soon. read more

I do agree with most of you that this store is much more organized. I have been to this location several times and a lot of the employees are rude and not helpful. The paint department is something else! I stood there for about 8 minutes waiting for them to finish their personal conversation, and was not happy to help me or any other customer. This store is ridiculous, I order in store roofing materials for over 1000$ , for some reason order was split in two packages one package got in two weeks ago second two days ago , I called store to make sure order is in complete they said yes, so I went to rent a truck to pick it up only to find out they can't find my order (how can u lost 6x18ft panels?) after two hours in store assistant mgr WES is basically accusing me that is my foul that they lost my order coz I didn't pick it up when the first package got in store, WES said Menards its not a "storage facility "how I can pick it up if the order is not complete? WTF? Mgr told me to go home they will call me. At this point if U lost order I told them to reorder and ship to my house coz Im not taking another day off from work to rent a truck, he said no they can't deliver to my house so I told them to give me my money back since they lost my order or can't deliver , they say its going to charge me 30% restocking fee, I told them U going to charge me restocking fee for something that U lost? We came to shop for kitchen furniture. We needed help designing a custom kitchen. One of the staff members (Steven B.) assisted with designing one for us, and we were absolutely amazed how knowledgeable he was with the product and the software! An empty shell, it might as well hire robots, at least they would be programmed to do their job and would actually do the job. I had to pull two steel folder chairs, since they have them hanging instead of having them at floor level for people to just grab and put in their carts. They saw me since I dropped both each time I pulled one off the hooks they hang from. Just standing talking to each other on a cell phone. Need to build outside plants, they have very little selection. It should have a food court, it is two floors of merchandise, give out a map to people waking in, because no one around to tell you where to find things. Plenty of cashiers. read more

Horrible 3rd experience. All 3 times I have been here the employees avoid customers like the plague. I ask a question and it goes through 5 people to get an answer. But my last experience will keep me out of the store. I went in looking to buy a safe. The one I wanted sat on the shelf with a price of 150.00 so I spent a half hour of my time trying to find it on the shelf. Then I finally found an employee to help. He told me there was only one in stock and possibly was the floor model. So he tried paging someone in that department,who obviously didnt respond. So I went for a walk with the employee to find the guy in charge of the department. We ended up finding him having tea time with 2 other employees. He looked up the model and told the other employee to tell me that its the floor model while I'm standing right in front of him.( I think this guy is a manager too). Obviously parts were missing from the floor model like hangers,keys,and the code which he told his employee which told me this info. So obviously I asked is there anything you can do about this. Answer was no and he turned his back on me to continue his conversation with his employees. I normally can get past disrespect,but I feel more could have been done. It gets better I go down to guest services to complain and they give me a blue form that complains about products not the store and tells me to mail it in. I was so happy they moved the menards closer to my house,its a shame they left the service at the old location. read more
