I've been here several times and always find good deals on what I'm looking for. They have a lot of "American Made" items here which is a top reason for me to shop at Menards. Recently went in to grab some plants in their garden department, and they had quite a few to choose from. Staff here was friendly and helpful. I love coming to a Menard's when I return to the Midwest. This Menard's is huge and I drove right on past Lowe's to get here. Walking through the aisles gives me all sorts of home improvement ideas, which unfortunately I can't all fit into my suitcase. I am not a fix-it person but it has been very difficult to find contractors so I've been doing a lot of repairs to our home myself. Menards has become my go-to. They seem to have more of a selection of the things I need. I bought brackets, a bannister, gloves, paint, and some other supplies there. The staff is very nice and friendly! read more

OMG YO!!! While on an outing with family in Mich City I wanted to stop by Menards and buy a few stuff i needed in my remodeling project i am presently doing. In Chicago we only have 2 Menards stores. But this Menards was like a Super Menards DAMNNNN this place is huge everything and anything under one roof. Large assortments of Snacks, appliances, and indoor lumbar yard. Everything i needed was here. Hell and sales tax was only 7%. I pay 10.25% in Chicago. I luv you Super Menards. read more

Prices are very good, they almost always have exactly what you need and the lines are not that long. It's easier to find help here than in other home improvement stores but it's still not that easy. I truly believe they could improve by hiring more people to walk the isles and help customers find what they need. read more

This is a clean store and the associates are very helpful. The prices are cheap as always and it was easy to get in and out of quickly. The only thing was. I had a suit on from an interview and I was trying to change into some shorts in the parking lot. So I parked by the cart hut. I have never in my life seen a girl pushing the carts into a store. Until today! I must have scarred her for life! read more

It is a very nice atmosphere for the type of store and very large most everything you would need is here and the staff is very helpful. You would be most likely to spend a good amount of time here to see everything or if you know just what you are looking for you can be in and out fast it is up to you. read more

The prices are very good. They have good sales on odd things like shrimp, burgers, dog treats, etc.... The aisles are full. There is a big selection. The store is clean. Many people are very helpful. I used to love going to Menards but not anymore. I expect a BAD experience and I am never disappointed. Having a broken foot and a different broken leg made it difficult to get in the store. When I asked for help with an electric mobility scooter a condescending female assistant manager treated me like dirt. It wasn't once or twice but numerous times. The ONE mobility scooter they have is frequently in use with 2 or 3 people waiting to use it. More times than not, it is broken. In an attempt to improve the customer service expereince for myself and others, I tried calling their central office. One CAN NOT get through to speak to anybody. Either there is a recording or nobody answers the phone. After hunting for an email contact, I sent them a brief email note to call me but they never did. They replied with a short, generic statement, "We are sorry you had a bad expereince. We try to meet our customer's needs. We'll try to do better in the future." Well, after another year of the same condescending assistant manager and broken scooter, nothing has changed. The leg and foot are healed but I am still rehabing and need a scooter. Perhaps these people are biggots that just look down on disabled people. Perhaps they thought I was a pauper form a local trailer park. Maybe they use the "N" word when nobody is looking. I am not sure. However, if you have ever been treated like dirt....you know when you are being treated like dirt. It's the look, the tone, the smugness of superiority. Lowes has 3 scooters. They have a good selection. Prices are similar for like items. ALL the people are happy to help. I was much happier buying a mower, chainsaw, weedwacker, toilets, paneling, paint, hardware, cleaning supplies, etc.... at Lowes. They were happy to take my money. Big R has three scooters, lots of home / farm supplies and they take my money too. So, Menards is not hanicapped friendly, they have condescending leadership in the store and an aluf central management. I have a pole barn to build, fencing to install and more home improvements to do. I will spend my money at Lowes and Big R. read more

This was an experience I had last year, and dreaded another trip for lumber to your store...I thought it couldn't be as bad as my first experience. Oh, it was. I went to buy some 8' 4 x 4's treated. I went without my husband because he was busy. I went into the store and wanted a quick transaction so I could get back home and not burn any more daylight hours. The first employee I saw I asked, "I need lumber. Can I just go up to the cashier and tell her what I need and she will ring it up?" He said, "yes." I went back up front and the Cashier told me I had to go get a "pick slip" from the back of the store in the lumber department. I asked her, "OK, so when I go out back will there be someone to help me load it?" (I am a 50 year old woman. Not weak or frail but really, I rather have customer service and not do all the work for wood I'm PURCHASING.. from you) I went and got my "pick slip" and also asked that employee. "will there be someone back there to help me load it?" He said with confidence, "yes." I was instructed where to drive to pick up my lumber. The cashier said they would direct me to where the product was when I enter at the gate. So - I get to the gate waiting for direction and the employee just waves me through. I drive back having NO CLUE in that large lumber yard WHERE my "picked lumber" was (isn't a pick slip for someone to pick and pull your product???) I find another employee who tells me which isle. I finally locate my lumber, by the price on the shelves...(lots of different 4 X 4's..) So, I considered loading it myself...I look and most the wood is strapped down. A few cobbled pieces that were picked over lay on the ground. So what, I'm supposed to cut the straps also? I had no knife. So I had to CALL the store and ask for help. Now the one nice thing I have to say was the young boy who helped me was polite, despite I had an attitude. SO? What's next?? Will you start to hand us a saw and direct us to a log and tell us how to cut our own product????? Maybe some men like to load their own lumber, but you should give people an option! Don't make us go back and wonder around aimlessly then call for help. Needless to say, I will not be returning for lumber. I will seek a company that makes me, as a customer, (who makes you money) a priority. Customers make a company - treat them well. (I worked at a store where we were basically told to kiss the customers butt. And we carried things out to their car without being asked) You would benefit from training your employees that way. I live in Chicago and have a weekend house in Michigan City, and I love this Menard's. I am in it at least twice every weekend... everything is so affordable and I have made so many beautiful improvements with the "stuff" I purchased here ! There are 3 negatives: 1. If you truly need advice or assistance on a project, don't think these teenagers can help you. Head next door to Lowe's where the experienced experts work. 2. For some odd reason this Menard's puts you through the wringer on returns. I am accustomed to the Menard's in Lincoln Park, Chgo, where there are no questions asked.. just zap zap with their bar code reader. Not here in Mich City, it is 20 questions and a magnifying glass. 3. Last, they carry mediocre brands, i.e. plumbing fixtures, appliances, lighting. No Kohler, no Miele, no Restoration Hardware quality lighting. On the other hand I purchased my kitchen cabinets here, and they are the exact same that Lowe's and Home Depot sells, and I paid considerably less. But be careful what you select, not everything is a bargain... the low priced laminate floor is also poor quality. read more
