Stopped in for a few items and had lots of questions about laser levels. The tool department associate did a great job answering all of them. After talking through my needs, they helped me realize that I probably didn't need the more expensive Milwaukee model and that a Bosch laser level would be a better fit. They also pointed out that Home Depot was running a special sale with a better price. I really appreciate that kind of open and honest customer service. Instead of trying to sell me the most expensive option, they helped me find the product that best fit my needs. That kind of integrity makes me an even more loyal customer. read more

Recommended by our contractor for kitchen handles. Big bright hardware store with helpful, knowledgeable workers. We got assistance and guidance from Virginia in the gallery, she wasn't at all judgemental when I was originally looking for the cheapest. Their cheapest are still pretty good quality. There was no upsell, and she was able to show the clusters of price ranges in their very large showroom so we could avoid the oh my gosh level of pricing. Currently, the best deal by far for all brass is Astor Marris but prices are fluctuating dramatically differently by brand. Their lowest price kitchen and bathroom pulls are not cheaply made products, they start at good, lots of intermediate better, and a startling selection for those for whom money is no object. This is the most awesome hardware store in southeast wisconsin. Truly a handy-persons delight as well as a place contractors visit often. They have almost everything you could want for any project. They have the widest assortment of power tools you will find anywhere with Milwaukee, DeWalt, Makita, Stihl, and many others. They have air tools and nailguns and all the usual departments like plumbing and electrical. They have great knowledgeable staff. They have a guy in plumbing who is great at finding the parts you need. They have tool days where many manufacturers come to display their wares and let you test drive various power tools. I cannot recommend them highly enough. I love this place. Next door they have a store with all kinds of knobs and drawer pulls and other cabinet hardware. You really have to see this place to believe it. Prices are typical of a hardware store. On tool day weeks they have great sales. Get on their mailing list so you get tool day flyers. read more

Ever see something marked 'Contractor Grade?' Neu's is a Contractor Grade store. Need a titanium hammer? They've got it. Every major brand of electric and cordless tool? Yeah, they've got that. This is not your run-of the-mill Ace hardware. These folks don't play around. This is where the real contractors shop. I'm particularly demanding (read: destructive) and picky about the tools I buy, there are very few things that I can't source from this store. If you are coming up from the Chicagoland area, the selection is probably similar to Berland's House of Tools, although, judging by the last time I was in Berland's in Palatine, the store layout at Neu's makes much more sense to me, and the staff is friendlier up here. I haven't been there in a while, and haven't been to the Lombard or Joliet locations, so that may not even be true anymore. Bottom line, if you have a wad of cash burning a hole in your pocket or purse that you want to throw at tools, this is the place to do it at! read more

My wife and I stopped in to buy a few items. Can't discern employees from regular customers because Tuesdays must be 'casual dress day'. We interacted with 3 separate employees in the aisles, they behaved as if we were troubling them with some more important task than Customer Service. After finding our products on our own we went to check out. A female associate was conversing with a male associate at the counter, another associate was with a customer. After what felt like too long the female walked over by us and mumbled, "I can help you over here".... That was the extent of our conversation , no thank you, no have a nice day, no I appreciate you coming here so that I can receive a paycheck... nothing. Unless you know the layout of the store and how to run a cash register I would suggest you go to Ace Hardware - because ACE IS THE PLACE WITH THE HELPFUL HARDWARE FOLK. Stopped at Neu's today for parts to fix a leaking drain. Menard's didn't have what I needed and suggested Neu's. We had the good fortune and pleasure to meet "Chief". Not only did he listen to my problem, he suggested a more likely cause of my leak. He found the appropriate part and then helped us find one more thing we needed. Being a contractor for 35 years I have been a regular customer and have always found what I needed.
