Good, reliable frozen yogurt place in AG, where the employees are always helpful and so happy. They have great new flavors periodically, and they had for example kiwi strawberry today. They have a great variety of toppings as well and overall, good prices. The inside is rather small so can get pretty packed, but they have a nice little outdoor seating area so I enjoy sitting out there while enjoying my fro-yo. Our visit to Menchie's in Pismo Beach on April 17, 2025 turned into a disturbing and deeply upsetting experience for my family, especially for my 6-year-old son, who was unfairly targeted and emotionally shaken by a male employee's bizarre and aggressive behavior. While I was preparing yogurt for one of my other children, my 6-year-old son took an innocent bite of his yogurt that he was holding within his hands. A moment later, I heard someone harshly scolding another individual beside me. I turned around to see that it was an employee, a grown man who was raising his voice at my son, accusing him of stealing and calling him a thief. My son was standing quietly beside me, not running around or causing a scene. He simply took a bite of his sweet treat while waiting..Something no reasonable adult would ever consider "theft," especially from a small child. I immediately stepped in to defend my son and explained that I was, in fact, right there and had every intention to pay for all our yogurts. Rather than apologize or de-escalate, the employee doubled down by raising his voice again and repeating that my son was stealing. I tried to reason with him, pointing out that this was no different than a sample (which they allow without limit), and that my son is just a child..a sweet, honest, well-intentioned boy who did nothing wrong. Instead of showing any empathy or basic decency, this man continued to berate both of us, acting as if he was delivering some moral justice. It was uncomfortable, completely unprofessional, and downright weird. Who behaves this way toward a 6-year-old? My son was so shaken, he shut down for the rest of the day he was confused, embarrassed, and heartbroken. He couldn't understand or process why an adult stranger had confronted him like that, and labeled him as a thief. When I asked to speak to a manager that day I was thinking surely someone in leadership would respond with reason or empathy, but things only got worse. The manager came out and fully backed the employee's behavior, and then he, too, called us thieves. When I told him no one was stealing, that we weren't thieves he responded with an immature and snide question: "Then what do you call it when you take something you haven't paid for, that isn't yours?" This wasn't about theft. This was about two grown men lacking judgment, compassion, and any understanding of how to work in a place that serves families and children. The entire exchange felt bizarre, unprofessional, and honestly unsettling. Both men were confrontational, accusatory, and completely incapable of responding with basic decency. And I couldn't help but ponder had my husband been standing beside me, I highly doubt they would have dared to speak to me or my child in the same way. The dynamic was unbalanced, and I felt my child was targeted and I was disrespected as a woman with her children. Again, I'd like to re-emphasize that my son was emotionally rattled for the rest of that day. His eyes filled with silent tears the car ride home. What's even more heartbreaking is that two months later, he is still affected. At a gas station last week, when we were about to pay for a fountain drink, he quietly told his sibling not to sip their drinks yet. He was afraid someone might be confrontational with us again. This man's words (and behavior) imprinted fear and shame into my son's mind; something no child should carry. Six-year-olds don't steal. They're children. And they should never be bullied, shamed, or publicly humiliated by adult men who are supposed to be serving frozen yogurt and smiles, not intimidation. This experience left a mark on my child that I cannot forget and I will never return to this location because of it. I strongly advise other families to stay away from this Menchie's. After a great baseball game we headed over for yogurt. My granddaughter served her yogurt and was waiting for to pay and grabbed one piece of boba off the top of her yogurt, all of a sudden the worker yelled and snapped his fingers at her stating you are stealing! She was startled and didn't know how to respond so her mother said please don't yell at my child. He continued to call her a thief and when we asked for his name or a manger he stated his name is Fritz and he's a the owner!!!! He said he has lots of customers so if he loses a few o well! I have been to Menchies a couple of times recently. The yogurt and toppings were all good. I filled up the one size container that they had and it was over $10! I could have gone next door to Chipotle and gotten a burrito for that price. They do not post the price per ounce which I think they should do. So, last time I walk into the store. I pick up the cup. I fill it and the clerk rings it up and the display asks me how much of a tip I want to leave! Tip for what! I did everything mysel! The owners aren't paying their employees enough and want me to pay top dollar for their product and then pay their employees with a tip for nothing. I wouldn't be surprised if the owner keeps the tips and the employee never sees them. Here is how to do it at a reasonable price. Buy a QUART in the freezer case for $7.99. That's a lot of yogur!, Then take a cup and put the topping you want in it! The topping weight is very little. So, maybe you pay $2.00 for the toppings. Go home and put the two together and you will get double or triple the amount you would normally pay. Do it quick before they figure out a way to not let you do it, Also, this is a franchise and in addition to your Yelp review you can complain to the Franchise-or. Google them. read more

So sad this store has such horrible leadership. went into the store to celebrate my kids first home run. We tasted a few and chose a yogurt. the owner Rich was there an extremely rude to my daughter who grabbed one piece of boba out of her yogurt. I apologized and said we want to pay he went on and on about how we were stealing and need to pay before we eat anything. I told him yes but he needs to address me the parent not my child. After a long day at a beach soccer tournament nearby, my daughter's soccer team had a pizza party at the Hampton Inn pool. It was chilly outside and we are both introverts so we decided to leave early to get some dessert and play video games. On a whim we looked for some dessert nearby and found Menchie's. While it was nice to have some quality time together, the yogurt experience was not very good. Many of the dual yogurt machines only had a flavor on one side. Some toppings were out, including mochi, our favorite. A few of the toppings like nuts and KitKats tasted stale. There were some napkins and melted yogurt puddles around the trash can. I really didn't want to write this review, but after my third visit in two months in which I walk in, see no waffle cone or waffle chips, and am told that "the waffle cone machine is broken," I'm over it. Waffle cone products are a STAPLE item for a frozen yogurt shop. If you can't get the basics down, why would I assume anything else is running smoothly. What a bummer. Good yogurt--but that's not what this review is about. It's about the treatment of the high schoolers who run the shop, and are stressed out, anxious, and exploited by owners who have them train each other--or send instructions by text, and harass the kids with endless correspondence in their off hours. Conflict with irate former employees is a common thing that current employees--who are often alone onsite--have to deal with. I'm one of many parents who is at my wit's end with what happens at this shop, and finally encouraged my daughter to find another job so she could leave this one. When she did finally quit, the owners, Isaiah and Tamera Azadgan, cornered her on her way out the door, sneering at her that she "quit for not being named employee of the month." Wrong. She quit because she was done being bullied and mistreated, and watching the same thing happen to her friends and co-workers. If you're having a hard time believing any of this, simply talk to current and former employees, as well as their parents. In the past month two other employee's parents--that I'm aware of--made their kids either quit, or step down from the responsibility of shift lead because they were so stressed and anxious. And if you tip at this store be aware that tips are rarely passed on to the employees, and are instead kept by the owners. My daughter and her co-workers have received multiple checks containing zero tips. Finally, do not be swayed by fake reviews (or the petulant responses to negative reviews by the owners). Research for yourself. Multiple identical reviews on Yelp and Google have been submitted under different names. One of them actually says the owners "exude God." Really? Who says that about yogurt shop owners? Come on. There are excellent yogurt shops in Arroyo Grande (It's Really Yogurt) and Pismo (Pismo Yogurt). Take your business to people who treat their employees with respect and appreciation, and provide adequate training. read more

Froyo at Menchies was not horrible but was not one of the best Froyo I had compared to other places I have gone to. *Pros: -Friendly staff/good service -A lot of flavors to choose from -Had a sanitizer pump, required for everyone to use before touching the froyo machine handles/spoons for the toppings ***TIP: I still like to bring gloves just incase -Good selection of toppings *Cons: -This one might be a picky thing and maybe hard to maintain as the day goes by...but the toppings were not as fresh. This Menchie's location recently changed owners. All of their machines used to always work and be full. Now they only have a few going with very basic flavors. They also used to always have fresh berries and fruit. The last 4 times I've been in, they have had no fresh fruit. This used to be my favorite frozen yogurt in the area, but no longer. They also changed their hours and are no longer open on Sunday at all which was my family's normal day to visit in the past. So disappointing to see another business bite the dust just because they can't seem to maintain quality. The cleanliness of the store has gone down significantly. Their chairs are white and very obviously not cleaned regularly. I do hope they are able to pull this business out of the slump it is in. read more

This place used to be a good yogurt shop. The selections of yogurt flavors is poor. Went there last night they didn't even have vanilla yogurt. And half the machines weren't working. I like coming here for the delicious yogart, they have a variety of different flavors everytime I visit. They now have chocolate dipped waffle cones and waffle chips for your yogart cups. Today I had a cup with waffle chips, (so yummy) cheese cake and raspberry yogart with dark chocolate chips (my favorite) orange and pink boba beads (juicy) and what an Awesome combination !!! This location is far cleaner than any of the others I have visit. It seemed so immaculate almost sterile. The young lady that helped us seemed friendly, greeted as we entered the store and Thanked us as we left. I didn't get her name but she was helpful. I haven't had frozen yogurt in quite some time but I came in about 3 weeks ago and had their peanut butter gelato and then I went the following week and had the cake batter as well as the cheesecake so needless to say I went back just last weekend and tried another new flavor, coconut! Holy moly was that good, I think it's actually my favorite! The employees were super nice and allowed me to try a couple samples before I went with my top pick. Please accept my constructive feedback. This is my 3rd cake purchased since your Grand Opening. Previous cakes were OUTSTANDING. THIS 3rd cake, not the case. Feedback: Whipped cream was off. Oreo topping was not fresh tasting and the flavor overall was off and had a freezer burn-like taste. There was no paper slip with the cake noting date made, toppings, layers etc. I should have known right there that the cake could have been past it's peak freshness, but it was New Years and I was bringing it to a family gathering. Even the box had chocolate yogurt all over it on the sides and bottom. Got on my wife's jeans and we had to put it on the trunk. I have a client I work for who loves frozen yogurt. We stop in at different times. The yogurt is great but, last time we came in staff was in the back for awhile. The place was really a mess. The machines, counters, floors and front door could be wiped down if they have nothing to do. It's never been as clean as it should for a place that serves food. It's about training the staff and if they can't do the work find someone who wants to. Could be an awesome inviting place. The vibe wasn't good at all. Wish people cared more about their work and the place they work. If the owners don't care then neither will staff. read more

This store is absolutely filthy - all of the chairs are covered in dirty shoe prints, the tables are crusted with yogurt, and the staff doesn't seem to bother cleaning. When we came here on a Wednesday, the employee clearly seemed over it/checked out; the floor had crumbs and small pieces of trash everywhere, and the tables were riddled with trash - drinks, even cherry stems, all left by previous patrons - all while the employee just stood there. I can be kind of understanding if someone doesn't want to clean, but the actual toppings weren't even being replenished .... So..... I guess the employee this evening considered themself strictly cashier-only. More importantly, these chairs didn't become filthy overnight, so there's clearly an ongoing cleanliness issue here. My boyfriend and I went tonight since I was craving some frozen yogurt. Got there, made our yogurt, paid, etc etc. Got home to eat it and it's pretty good so far. And then, I get to the chocolate shell part and it tastes like pink erasers off a pencil or the erasers you'd stab your pencil into multiple times out of boredom. This Menchies is operated by some really great people! My family and I've always been treated really well there. Just today my 2 year old stuck her hand in the boba topping - I was mortified- and the guy behind the counter very swiftly and graciously removed the boba from the counter without getting upset at all. They take their health and safety procedures seriously without being jerks about it! Also, their froyo is top notch and lots of options that are switched out regularly. Cuz now and then, dinner is dessert, and dessert is dinner, and it's a beautiful thing. I originally heard about Menchies on some business reality show a couple years ago, maybe the Undercover Boss or something like that. I recall that Menchies stood for great product, great people, and great experience, so I was excited to try it when I heard it was coming to Arroyo Grande. I finally made it one foggy winter evening on a Wed night, which happens to be Waffle Cone Wednesday. Several people were in the store and enjoying their waffle cone/frozen yogurt/sorbet towers of creative genius. The gals at the counter were friendly and helpful, pointing out the waffle cones waiting in cups. I opted out of the waffle cone due to my gluten-free needs, but I did enjoy several flavors of yummy frozen yogurt. MAJOR thumbs up to Menchies for posting allergens in their signs for each flavor. Yes, it seems weird, but some flavors can have gluten, and it's so important to know which are gluten free. Thank you!! They had lots of yummy flavors I could eat. If you can eat anything, you will have a blast. Lots of toppings, including some unusual ones. Not inexpensive--my dinner/dessert was about $6.50. But heck, it was yummy, and now and then, ya just give live. All in all, a fun, clean, friendly place (and gluten-free friendly, to boot)! read more

I went to menchies tonight because they've had a 50% off frozen yogurt advertised all week for Thursday Feb. 3rd. When I arrived and asked for the discount they pulled the sign and said they weren't allowed to honor it. That their manager said they weren't doing it and they needed to pull sign. What I find extremely deceptive is that they lured all their customers here under the pretense of a discount by advertising and then only pulled the sign down the day they were supposed to honor it--after being asked about it. Yogurt was good and they had great flavors, from iced latte, birthday cake, mud pie, peanut butter, mango, etc. They didn't have as many toppings as I expected (comparing to other local places) but they had my favorites, so it worked for me. We went on a Wednesday and get this...It's Waffle Cone Wednesday! Come in and your Waffle Cone is FREE! I mean, who doesn't like free stuff? Service was great, but I mean they have only been open 2 days so let's hope that sticks. Only complaint...and they probably didn't have much input so I'm not going to ding a star for it, but it's the placement of the door. Weird complaint, right? When you walk in you automatically want to straight towards the ice cream, so you're searching for the cups and they are on the opposite side of the store. My husband and I are regulars here one night a week around 8:15p. After a few weeks of finding 4 machines out of service when we got there I notified the owners. They were so gracious and vowed to re-train their employees that the policy is to clean 2 machines around 8:15 then another 2machines after closing. All went well for two weeks but employees are again taking 4 machines out of service early. I quizzed the the teen employee about it and she told me the policy had never been explained to her. It actually feels like its already closed if you get there before 8:30p because the employees are in the back and there's gaping holes where the machines should be. I can only give Menchie's 2 stars due to the employees and their cash handling. Today is the second time I've been there and have been given the wrong change. The first time I didn't notice until I was already home but today I noticed and confronted the employee who did it and she kept claiming it was correct. My total was $15.82 and I gave her $21.00 so I could eat a five back and even though she recognized it as $21.00 she put $20.00 in the computer and gave me change for that. When I asked for my other dollar back, she refused. It's not the dollar that's important for me it's the principle. It makes me wonder if they are trying to scam others??? The workers were rude. No greeting or anything. I said "how's it going" and they just looked at me as if they were brain dead. One of the workers had the audacity to just rush past me to go to the back of the store. Normally this wouldn't bother me but she was just very odd. The other worker who helped me at the register looked like he genuinely hated his life. As he handed me my card back he didn't even extend the card over the counter to me. Boy, this place has really gone down hill recently. Not only are their prices so much higher (68 cents an oz now???) but they lack inventory: we went in at 7:30 pm on a Wednesday, which is supposed to be free waffle cone day, and with an hour left to be open they were out of waffle cones, half the yogurt flavors, and were down to two liquid toppings (no hot fudge), with one of the dispensers broken. From now on we'll just get what we want at the grocery store. It's very disappointing because this place used to be head and shoulders above all other yogurt shops in the area. read more
