Quick review. Great service, Funky and eclectic decor all along the walls. Very cool spot for christmas ornament shopping! We snagged some thumbprints and a raspberry cupcake. Both were decent ! Good little spot to hit up after a nice lunch. read more

Ordered a custom cake for my friend's birthday and they were able to create exactly what I described! I tried to order online at first, but the website wasn't working and hard to navigate-I ended up calling and they were super helpful and asked for details during the design process. When it was time for pick-up the cake they had so many other yummy treats that we couldn't resist trying. The cake itself was so good and moist! read more

She recommended fillings and frosting that not only looked amazing but tasted delicious Decorations on the cake were very detailed and beautiful. One of the best cakes we've ever had. Ag bakery really delivered as usual.... I needed a large sloth themed cake for my baby shower. I talked to Casey and it was coming to the last minute and she was very patient and accommodating with all the back and forth phone calls. I told her what I wanted and she told me what she was able to do with the size and my ideas. I had another well known bakery tell me they couldn't do what I wanted but Casey was able to do it. She did exactly what I wanted and it turned out so cute!!! Not only did it look amazing but it tasted great!!! The cake was very moist and the filling was delicious, and I'm not a big fan of cake, but I have to say I can't get enough of this one. Highly recommend ag bakery! Disappointing. Staff is awesome. Confections are beautiful. Prices a bit high, in my opinion, but I am a bit of a cheapskate. The chocolate icing tastes *just like* Pillsbury frosting from a can. On some items it has been whipped and is airy, soft, and pale. But I'd bet money it came pre-made. Not that it tasted bad! I use those frostings all the time. But for the price I expected a rich buttercream. The decorative, brightly colored bits of frosting were the typical shortening-and-sugar. The cake, itself, was a good texture. But tasted just like a box cake mix. "Custard" filling is a whipped cream and custard blend. It's basically stabilized whipped cream with a yellow tint. Again, not the richness I expected. I really wanted to like them. :( read more

Terrific customer service and delicious cakes! I called the in the morning and asked to place a cake order which they said would be ready later that day. Such a seamless process. It took about ten minutes to pay and order over the phone and the cake itself looked great when I picked it up. I ordered whipped cream frosting, fresh strawberry and Bavarian cream for the fillings with white cake. It was exquisite. Highly recommend going to this bakery! read more

Based on Yelp reviews I chose them to do my sons wedding cake. My son and his fiancé tasted cupcakes before deciding on vanilla cake with raspberry and cream filling and chocolate cake with a chocolate mousse. The cake wasn't as moist as I expected and the filling was too sugary sweet. The customer service is excellent and the employees are friendly. The cake was pretty and arrived on time. read more

Came here because we were craving dessert and didn't know exactly what we wanted. Everything looked so delicious! We decided on 2 chocolate chip brownie cookies and two regular chocolate chip cookies. Got to the car and tried the chocolate chip cookie! Omg! It was so good. Thin, soft and chewy. Had the BF go back to the bakery to by 6 more cookies! I regret not getting more! Will definitely be back here when in town. Local trying it - 1 white bread 8.99$ not worth it. Service was great no justification in that price 2 other bakeries have the same bread half the price it's hard to support business like this . Up charge cookies and cakes but bread is a staple. read more

I ordered 5 custom sugar cookies and paid $28, which I think is a good price considering the amount of effort that goes into each cookie. I called first and was told there was a same day turn around. When I arrived I was told they wouldn't be done till the end of the following day, which is fine I guess. The girls were relatively nice. My boyfriend picked up the cookies and honestly I was disappointed. The decorating appeared to be rushed and somewhat messy. There was black frosting smeared on some cookies. I understand this is an artform but at $5 a cookie I expected better. My family said the cookies tasted good though - I never tried them because I am gluten free & they said they do not have any gluten free options. read more

In summary, if you want fresh, homemade, wholesome baked goods and don't mind paying extra or if this is an occasional treat, this bakery delivers. See below for details of review: I appreciate that all the items are baked from scratch and using real food ingredients. I just think that the items are overpriced because I bake myself from scratch and know better pricing. Think about Gina's piece of Cake in Santa Maria and make the items more expensive. They not only have cookies, cakes, tarts, pies and bread but also prepare cakes to order for special occasions. There is no seating in the locale so this is mostly a get and go place. The staff is polite, attentive and so is the owner. Check the discounted items rack for bread, cookies, cakes and pies on discounted prices. Quality of food is reasonable, just know that prices will be higher than average supermarket bakery. They do sale tea and coffee by the cup. We had a chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting that was ok (but we do like darker chocolate at home) and some delicious Mexican Wedding cookies as well as a thumbprint cookie and a cup of tea. Might consider going back if seating was available. read more

Very delicious! Was not able to keep cut pieces in tact. It fell apart and crumbled making it hard to serve but still everyone raved on the flavor. I ordered over the phone and emailed the photo & wording. What you see is the exact thing I emailed and was transferred to the fondant which covered the cream cheese frosting on top. The swirly colors on the border is non-edible curling ribbon which we removed. We had agreed upon black & silver but as you see it is multi color instead. I was ok with it, just saying if it matters to you, make sure you stress your colors. I wasn't told the price when I ordered. I was a bit surprised to see my card was charged $63 for this size cake. Undecided if would use them again. I live in Bakersfield and the occasion most likely won't present anyway. read more

The cake decorator took my order directly, so all the names were spelled correctly and she talked me through what tasted good/design. The cake was affordable and was under $25 for eight servings. After reading lots of reviews on Yelp, I called Pam at PK's Cakes. We were not disappointed. Ratings: - Overall: 5 - Ease of Ordering: 5 - Cake Selection: 5 - Customization: 5 - Day of Pick-Up: 5 - Crowd Reaction: 5 - Price: 4 - Value: 5 - Ease of Ordering: Simple. I called Pam, explained the situation and what my wife liked. Pam asked several follow-up questions before we settled on ingredients, appearance and arrangements to get the cake at her house in Arroyo Grande (closer to Cypress Ridge than the village part of AG). She bakes everything in her kitchen. - Cake Selection: Huge. Pam is a cake artist so the choice is basically limited by your imagination and her suggestions. - Customization: Almost anything. We got a 7 inch round layer cake meant to serve 15 people. My wife called it "an artistic version of strawberry shortcake" which is just what she wanted. The top had a yellow rose with sage green leaves and baby's breath sugar flowers. Since her main hobby is ceramics, Pam suggested adding 2 sculpted pots on the side (check out the photo). - Day of Pick-Up: Easy. I ordered this cake 9 days before the expected pick-up which was one day before the party. Pam had it ready-to-go on a strong cake board in a nice, large, sturdy box and helped me find the safest place in my car for the 10 minute drive home. I kept it in that box in our refrigerator at home. - Crowd Reaction: Great. Typical comments were..."what a fine looking cake" and "it tastes so good without being too sweet". - Price: Not cheap. Remember...this is a highly customized cake literally created by a baking artist. Our cake was $175 plus $50 for the hand-carved decorations. - Value: Excellent. We got just what we paid for. I've come here many times. The cakes are good, but if the employees cant wear their masks over their face instead of hanging off their ear, I'm over it. I've tried to come by a couple times to see customers inside with no masks and the employee wearing their mask on their chin or hanging off their ear. I had a friend that came by that experienced the same issue and asked the worker why people inside weren't wearing their mask and the employee's response was "masks aren't required" - which we all know is BS at this point. They're required by not only California but the city of Arroyo Grande as well. I've also seen people on NextDoor complaining about Arroyo Grande Bakery for the same reasons so it sounds like this is a common thing. Bummer that they won't bother to do something so simple. Maybe I'll come back when the pandemic is in a different place, maybe not. read more

Fabulous bakery. Went to an Open House in Santa Ynez this week where we featured our new Arabian stallion. We served Sparkling Cider and baked goods from the Arroyo Grande Bakery. Everything was beautiful and delicious. The cupcakes with flowers and butterflies were a complete hit. Napoleons super light and delightful and we got endless compliments on the brownies. Cannot say enough great things about this bakery. And since we were on a tight schedule to get everything to the farm on time, they were wonderful about having everything packed carefully and ready to go before our scheduled pick up time.
