I've been to this chain in Santa Monica, Montecito, and now here! The ice cream is great and there is a ton of variety. There is also a cute arcade in the back that had reasonably priced games. We played for 30 minutes and had fun! My only complaint is the pricing - I would have appreciated if the staff let us know that the tiniest scope was just $1-$2 cheaper than a normal scoop, and that toppings were included! If I had known all of that I might have given it 5 stars. I think the customer service could definitely have been better. read more

This is a mixed review of my first visit. The service was good. Those working were very nice, attentive and helpful. The price, on the surface seemed a bit high but the portion size was pretty typical for a ice cream shop making custom flavors. If you're like "interesting" flavor combinations, this just might be the place for you. I highly advise getting a sample taste before sinking $9 into a scoop. I made that fatal mistake and my Mint Patty ended up in the trash. I am not a fan of mint as an herb and that is the mint flavor, not the sweeter cousin found in candy. Even though it appeared to have candy pieces in it, I never got that far to find out. The others in our group loved their's and sampling them, they were just fine although tainted by the lingering mint aftertaste. Sitting at towards the edge of the village, Rori's service delicious ice cream. It's small shop with quite the variety of flavors. They have a fun little arcade in the back for the kiddos as well. The staff is very nice and wonderfully pleasant. We tasted a few flavors and settled on a two scoop cup. We enjoyed a scoop of the honey lavender and a scoop of lemon curd. It was delicious. The only negative was the price. You can try to justify that they use high quality ingredients. However. It's hard to swallow almost $10 for a 2 scoop cup. Is it worth $5 a scoop? On a recent hot day, I was doing photos in AG Village & the Farmers Market & I happened to get very thirsty. While a nice Farmers Market juice helped, it was not what I wanted. I then happened to cruise over to Rori's. While I heard about the drama with the old store here, I had not tried the new one yet. I somehow needed a refreshing shake. After consulting with the bright young workers, I decided upon a Coffee Shake. In short, it was amazing. If one looks at the prices here, it is easy to figure out the logic. All prices are slanted toward the high end, but if one looks carefully, the larger sizes are a much better deal. One scoop items are not much more in price if one up sizes. It seems a bit odd, but the ice cream is excellent. Sadly, like most ice creams now, the flavors can be faddish. I like to stick with clean simple flavors that are not that sweet. I cannot stand IC that has junk in it. After all, I was one of the best Ice Cream store managers in Brooklyn back in the day. Our Carvel store was the highest producing store in the entire state of New York. I would personally make products & restock the entire store over the weekend, without any sleep. I made ice cream into cakes, pies, sandwiches, tubs, and you name it. If anyone knows the innards & intimate facts about "Wally The Whale", it is me. I sure love great ice cream....and that is what they produce & sell here. There is really nothing better than walking around AG Village with a cone, sundae, or shake to make it great. This looks to be an old school ice cream shop on the main street of a cute old west California town. However the flavor choices were great and had some unusual choices! Pepper pistachio, root beer, almond honey crunch, cinnamon, lemon curd, espresso stracciatella, plus classics like vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate. Unfortunately they were out of what I selected (though it seemed to be present in the freezer--perhaps a batch quality issue?) Thankfully they offer sample tastes so I could pivot. The prices seem a little high for the town, but there are also small cones further down the menu that are probably big enough for most daily ice cream needs, and there is a deal for kids. The service does leave something to be desired, but it felt like a number of students were hired to work during their summer break and I don't mind that. The lavender honey ice cream was the reason I went, and it will be the reason I return. SO good, it reminded me of Salt and Straw if you've ever been to that chain down south. My husband got the salted caramel and that was delicious, although the itty bitty size we agreed was not worth the price (just pay a little more to get the single). Having been here before, I drove 20 miles for the Honey Lavender ice cream which was incredibly delicious. The woman that helped me was so polite and she looked happy to be working there. I bought a single scoop and a pint of the same flavor. I was going to walk around the town and the gal (sorry, I don't remember her name) suggested picking up the pint when I was through wandering around town. I came back an hour later and she hand packed the pint for me because it wasn't pre-packed. I brought it back with me and am still enjoying its wonderful taste. I was excited to sample a new ice cream shop. We sampled the seasonal flavor, toffee and almond and it had absolutely no flavor. We settled on getting 2 pints of other flavors. It was supposed to be buy one and get one free and the charge was over $14. That was the price of one pint?! Ok, so it's pricey. That's perfectly fine if it's worth it. Today I went to eat the root beer float pint. You know the gummy top you get when ice cream is old? It had the gummy top and ice top that is present in old ice cream. I am so unhappy that not only was it pricey, the ice cream they sold us was not edible. By the way, we asked them to pack a pint and she said to get it from their prepackaged case. The store is clean and bright. There is a large central customer area good for lots of groups. There is a quaint train that runs around the walls. Our family is happy that Rori's Artisanal Creamery moved into our little village! For those of us who knew this location as Doc Burnsteins Ice Cream, it still has the train running along the ceiling. The layout is the same as before, including the booths. It has a fresh coat of paint and a variety of delicious ice cream. We ordered the kids Chocolate Monster with rainbow sprinkles and a kids Vanilla with Sour Patch gummies. I enjoyed the "itty-bitty," which consisted of three small scoops of ice cream in a tiny cup. I mixed the Mint Patty and Root Bear Float flavors. The ice cream tasted great! It felt lighter than other ice creams. They had a few vegan options which were highly recommended to me. I want to try the honey lavender at some point. The service was good and we appreciate the free parking in the village. The ice cream was expensive, $18 for three small scoops and a couple toppings, but everything seems expensive these days. The ice cream was really good. I like the selection of flavors and the Kid's Special. It is a bit pricey, but I feel like there's been an increase everywhere. The employees were all kind and helpful. I ordered the honey almond crunch. It had a very strong honey flavor (in a good way). The sugar cones aren't the typical ones, they make those too, and have a different (stronger brown sugar) flavor. I'm glad they kept the inside seating, the train and ice cream outside. It does feel a bit empty inside, but hopefully that's just because they haven't finished setting it all up.
