Review for Mendez Air Conditioning - Technician Marcos We had our yearly service done today on the A/C and heating system Mendez installed about 16 months ago, and I can't say enough good things about the technician, Marcos. He started inside, checking everything carefully -- making sure the condensation runoff pipe was clear, verifying the filter, and walking me through the steps as he went. I had several questions about adding a thermostat sensor and a few other things, and he was extremely patient and helpful, taking the time to explain everything in clear terms. Outside, Marcos cleaned the compressor coils, then thoroughly inspected the entire air conditioning unit -- checking pressures, amperage, and voltage across all components. Again, what stood out most was not just his technical skill, but the way he explained every step and made sure I understood what he was doing. Marcos was professional, hardworking, and very knowledgeable throughout the service call. This review is way overdue. Our AC went out at the end of the summer, however, with two little ones and a dog we had to brave it out for one night. We were so lucky that we were contacted at 7AM for a tech to come and fix our AC. In no time, the AC was working and we opted to do the seasonal service... which I think is a plus, especially living in the desert. Marcos, has provided us top notch service during each visit. We are so pleased with the service received by Mendez Air Conditioning and Heating . We bought our two new units from them about two years ago and they did an amazing job with the installation and We just had a small whistle and they came right out. Turns out it was user error as I knew filter wrong. Marco Ortiz was our guy while Marcus was here. He noticed a leak by the side of the house that we never see. Thank goodness he noticed it we called someone and had it fix that day. Otherwise, it would've ended up being a very large problem. These guys are the real deal. When our HVAC system failed, we called our normal contractor. They said that the entire system had failed. We asked them to give us a quote. Since the cost was so high, we felt it was prudent to get other quotes. We chose Mendez because of their stellar reviews. They responded quickly, confirmed the system failed and needed to be replaced. Their pricing was less for the same unit submitted by others. Fernando, George, and Juan were there on time and did a great job. They didn't leave until we were comfortable with the operation of the system. They fixed my air conditioning problem ,were priced fairly , but left a lot of collateral stuff . I had to call them to rest the hot water heater , the coil was placed in a position where the cover would not fit on , so a very sticky tale was place all over the cover so I was unable to get the top cover off , called again . They sent someone else who could moved the gas line , but were unable to get the tape off and broke the cover . Called again , but the call was never returned . Pretty disappointed read more

Last week I found my A/C was not cooling I called Mendez out to check it. The service man came out and told us we needed a new unit and quoted us $29,000 for a rooftop heat pump pkg unit. When I asked how much to repair he quoted us $20,000 to replace the compressor, blower motor and condenser fan motor. I found this to be a bit high so I called another company out and they repaired it, got us up and running for $1800. We trusted them to look out for us and instead they disconnected the compressor on my existing unit so it would not come on. read more

Wanted to give a glowing review for this company. In world of bad actors and upselling, Mendez proved to be efficient, honest, friendly, and competent. Victor Garza arrived with his partner Marco on time for a routine maintenance call for my HVAC. They did a thorough job, worked fairly quickly, and were very respectful. No upselling! I decided on the spot to sign up for the annual service which includes two maintenance service calls a year. No pressure to do so, and at the end of the year you decided whether to continue (no contract). Very satisfied. Ask for Rhonda or Kelly when you call - they're both terrific. read more

A young man came out to inspect my furnace. He told me it needed to be replaced. He quoted me $20,000. Then he Said he could do it for $16,000. When I said no, he said they could do it for $10,000 but only if I paid that day. I then had another company come out and the estimate was between $6-8,000. I resent high pressure sales and would NOT recommend getting any estimates from this company. read more

These guys are honest and trustworthy. I used another company for 9 years and when they were conducting my Spring maintenance the other day, they told me that the lines needed to be replaced (almost having to tear up my drywall). After a $5K quote for repair (and a $20K quote for a new system), I decided to get a 2nd opinion. I was referred to Mendez. Thank Goodness! It turns out there was nothing wrong with my unit! The others had the system apart to run further tests and 'repair' it, so I've been without air conditioning for 2 days. Ricardo and Juan came out and were great. This was my first time using Mendez for a routine maintenance on my A/C. Victor and his assistant Cade arrived within the time period told to me. They were knowledgeable about some issues that needed to be repaired and took time to explain what needed to be done outside of the routine maintenance. I can't speak to the value with a first visit but I am hoping that I have finally found an A/C company...having used two within 10 years...that is competent and is not taking advantage of me. I'm leaving emotion out of this. Do NOT use this company. I'm a student in a HVAC program at a college. This company goes way beyond ripping people off they will take advantage of you if you don't know anything about hvac. I was out of town and my girlfriend called them with out me knowing that's why this happened. They charged me 672.00$ to replace my duel run capacitor. Let me explain why this is so wrong... a duel run compactor cost 25$ it's attached to 3 wires ( without a hard start kit ) in your condenser unit. It takes 5min to replace a bad compactor. 670.00$ they charged me. I'm not saying do this yourself because you could get shocked if you don't know what your doing but there are a lot of honest companies out here but this is NOT one of them. The living room carpet in my ground floor unit was wet and I thought OH SH*T, one of the pipes has burst under the cement. When I spoke with a neighbor, she suggested it might be the A/C unit. I opened the air intake, removed the filter, and sure enough, every time the A/C came on, DRIP, DRIP, DRIP. She contacted Mendez the next morning and Victor came over to assess the situation. Turns out the drain line was blocked and just needed to be blown out. About an hour or so later, he was done and my A/C was back up and running. So relieved... with highs in the low 100s, I can't imagine what I would have done without A/C. Thanks again & again, Victor! read more

Unfortunately, did not have a good experience the 2nd time I called on them. First call was awesome with the owner the 2nd one cost me $800. The technician was supposed to call me once diagnosis was done and never did. I called and called and text and had to call my Airbnb guest to get a hold of him. At that time I was told he was done and my bill was almost $800. To me that's not the professionalism I am looking for. Instead I went with Hyde's for both my Airbnb's. Two months ago I needed parts replaced for my AC unit. They came out next day and were punctual. Yesterday, my AC completely blew out and I immediately called them and let them know my concerns. They came out today and replaced the unit same day at a reasonable cost. They are extremely professional and helpful. Mendez Air is the BEST... let me tell ya! I woke up in the dead of summer to a house that was 83 degrees. I called Mendez Air right away and spoke with Briana (Breana, Breanna, Brianna... hope one of those was the right spelling!) and she was so kind, professional, and easy to converse with. She set me up with a tech to inspect my unit right away. Jesse showed up that day and diagnosed the problem.... I needed a whole new unit! See picture below. It's pretty outrageous what happened and that my house didn't catch fire! Anyways, the following day Gabriel and another very friendly gentleman showed up at 7:50 am and got to work! They ran into some problems but handled them with ease. They continued to reassure us that everything was going to be perfect and the unit would be working by the end of the day. 7.12. 21 I am truly appreciative that Mendez AC has helped me 2 years in a row now with my down AC in the extreme summer heat, in Desert Hot Springs while struggling with common warranty company problems. They responded both times immediately as best possible on a Sunday. You get a live person routing your call and a timeline. Victor, the tech, provided a thorough inspection, temporary power to keep my air on and stayed to make sure it worked. He explained what was and wasn't needed, why and what parts are in stock immediately. This in 1 day after suffering 2 weeks of the 1st warranty contracted company scamming and claiming a special order motor delaying the service, was needed and 2 additional parts (two were working just fine if there knew what they were doing.) He explained how to understand that the parts were working. They are very professional, prompt, do what they can to help you and help save you money at the same time.
