Mr. Purrazello, the father, does not cut corners and is the type of contractor to show the job, explain what you want, listen closely to what he says, agree on the work scope, award the job, then walk away. He's going to deliver a five-star product, and more importantly with concrete, will likely stand the test of time; and, he won't cut corners. These characteristics of integrity, professionalism, knowledge of the industry, dependability, and honoring one's word is rare today. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending how you look at it, this firm is unlikely to be a low bid. But, as I discovered from working with them just one time, it's a company you can trust. That's old-fashioned. Not cutting corners, again old-fashioned. My experience is that these traits of high quality and fulfilling one's commitment are unusual in today's residential construction marketplace. I was astute enough in talking with the father to recognize he was a true, professional Craftsman and to trust his decisions. Now I am left with a backyard patio, in which everyone who sees it says, it's absolutely beautiful! It came out much nicer than I expected and originally called for; and, I am appreciative for it. Going into the project, I simply wanted a basic slab-on-grade patio with a few engineered features that was low cost. What was delivered was a beautiful, constructed better-than-originally-designed, backyard patio. My advice on this contractor to the General Public is: if this firm gives you a price and they are close to your budget, hire them immediately and look no further. Additionally, if you don't want to roll the dice and play games with most residential concrete contractors, simply agree on a work scope and price with this firm then sole source award the job to them. They won't let you down. Why? Because these characteristics of high quality and integrity are very unusual amongst residential contractors, in my experience and opinion. In closing, I must mention that unless the son Joey bid the work as was done in my case, it was likely the only way Purrazello could have won the work. I purchased a Living Social voucher for this company and immediately called to schedule the work to…read morebe done in a home that I was purchasing but had not closed on yet; it was about 3-4 weeks out from the time I called to my desired appointment date. When I made that initial phone call, I described EXACTLY what I wanted done in my home (install a light fixture in the ceiling of three bedrooms, none of which had any existing such fixture previously installed). The person I spoke with asked me additional questions for clarification (did I have an attic {yes} and was there a switch in each room that operated an outlet somewhere in the room {yes}). I was told that if my answer to those questions had been a "no", then they wouldn't be able to do the work because it would require a licensed electrician, which they were not, but since I said yes they would be able to just "fishline" down the wire and get it done. The day before my appointment I was called to confirm the job date and time, which I did. The next morning, the guy showed up 25 min late and apologized saying that he had gone to a different job site that he was on the schedule to do, only to arrive there and find another employee already there who informed him that the jobs had been switched around (but no one had told him apparently). So I was a little bit put off but no biggie. I showed the guy the bedrooms and the lights I wanted installed and the attic, but suddenly he says "I'm not equipped to do this job, let me make a phone call to the boss." He steps out, comes back in a few min later, and tells me that not only can HE not do the job, but NOBODY in the company is licensed to do that job. I was SO mad because I had described the job in detail over the phone and they should have told me then that this was not something they could do. I had taken the day off of work for nothing! So I asked for his boss's phone number, and called him. That, my Yelp friends, is when this went even further down hill (and caused me to give them a one star rating instead of a two).... The boss/owner, Mike, did say "I'm sorry". I'll state that upfront, yes, he did. But his tone from the get-go with me was RUDE, AGGRESSIVE, and with a VERY loud tone....at one point I even held the phone away from my ear because it was so loud and I stated to the employee (standing in front of me): Do you hear how he is speaking to me?!?! Mike said that they could not do the work because it was a liability issue, if my house burned down they would be liable because they are NOT electricians...he asked me to be sure that I included that in my Yelp review when I mentioned to him that I would be sure to up this company here, so there it is. Yes, I understand they cannot do the work for liability reasons, but my problem here is that they even scheduled the job in the first place rather than telling me this would not be possible. Mike said "human errors happen all the time" (regarding why someone made the appt), and while this is true, it was his beyond unprofessional attitude with me on the phone that totally made this experience even worse. I told him he should review the records to see who took my original call so he can be sure they do not repeat the same mistake again, and he said they keep thorough records and he will do that (we'll see). To give a fair review, Mike did try to stress that I had a 4-hr voucher that they were very willing to honor if I had any other projects to be done around the home, but while I do have a project list a mile long (welcome to home ownership and buying your first home), they were all projects I felt I could tackle on my own or with my dad's help (who happens to be visiting this week) so I didn't feel like I should pay for work that I could do for free on my own anyway. I decided to send the employee away and get my money back from Living Social. So in the end, I cannot speak for the quality of any of the work that they do, because none was performed in my home. But I can absolutely say that if you hire this company and everything doesn't go smoothly, be prepared for nasty dealings with an owner who needs to take a class or two on customer service.

This was the worst service I have received from a contractor. After I paid a few thousand dollars, the workers just stopped working. Contractors agreed that they would lay down flooring throughout my townhome, renovate the basement and close in the hvac and water heater in a closet, install a new sink/vanity, and remove any dump. All was in their provided quote. However it was incomplete, sloppy, and late. Several areas have not been fixed in my townhome according to our quote. The gaps in flooring in the upstairs bedrooms have not been filled in. The paint job on the stairs and walls were not touched up as they had promised. The basement pipes were not painted over as they promised several other tasks. Also, the team did not reconnect the internet wiring in the guest bedroom after their "repairs". The contracting team left a mess over my belongs that was not cleaned up before leaving. For example, I asked for plastic to cover my furniture multiple times. It was not covered, now that and more items in the basement are dirty to the point where I had to pay a cleaning company. There is white paint all over the basement floor and my belongings that was not there before your team. The team also left their personal drinks/trash in my basement which is unprofessional and caused me more work. It has been several weeks since the team was supposed to be done with repairs (in early September). Further, dump removal was on the original quote, however you refuse to remove the back patio garbage that the team caused from their construction. The work was incomplete and late. The owner stated that he would send the team to make corrections by last Friday 10/4/24, but they did not come and he has not answered my calls or texts since last Monday in October. Thank goodness they were yelp verified, because Yelp was able to refund me up to $2500, with no help from the contractors. Let it be a warning, just because a company is Yelp Verified, does not mean they are reliable, but do choose Yelp Verified workers just In case for the guarantee!

Talking to some other companies, it's like talking to cars salespeople where they try to upsell you on everything - NCC's quotes, in contrast, are very reasonable and they work fast.
