Let me preface by saying I absolutely LOVE Mendocino Farms. The quality, seasonal options and friendly customer service are typically on point so I have been a long time fan. However, my family and I visited this location and I think it was just too late in the day because they were out of so many items. Namely, the Not so fried chicken sandwich, which is one of my go to orders so I was pretty bummed. BUT I opted for a healthier option, a seasonal salad, and a side of pesto shells (my other go to orders!). My husband also got a seasonal salad, although I sadly can't recall either of them at this moment. I just recall both were good and fresh as usual. My kids love their drink options, which usually include a lemonade of some sort. Even though the ambiance and vibe was a bit off since it was on the later side, it was still good as expected. Plenty of seating, would recommend if you're in the area and already have business in that area (I.e. paid contracted parking) if not, I fear parking may be steep. Love the decor and everything about the establishment! I ended up getting their pesto checked sandwich with chips and a water. The pesto was freshly grounded with fresh chicken and greens. My server was Tia (or Tai) and she really made my experience even better. She was very polite and gave me feedback on my selections which made me feel better about what I was selecting. Interior is spacious and clean and they even have an extra staff there to literally stand by their menu and answer questions. Got the pork banh mi ($13) and a side of Mac salad ($5). The banh mi is extraordinarily overpriced compared to any other banh mi, and more so since it's just on a ciabatta bread and not an actual foot long baguette. The flavor combo and sauce was surprisingly solid, so that's a plus. Flavor wise, this is a solid 4/5 for sandwiches. Value/portion wise, it gets a 3/5 for me; most of their sandwiches are the size of a ciabatta bread and hovering around $13, which is quite steep considering the alternative lunch options nearby in Chipotle, Halal Guys, etc. Solid 3.5 star joint! read more

Despite downtown looking a bit desolate (combination of a Monday holiday and some sort of arctic freeze), I met a friend for lunch and enjoyed the peace and quiet in the restaurant! The staff greeted us and were so welcoming, ensuring great customer service. For food, I ordered my go-to, the Pink Lady Beets & Goat Cheese Salad with the dressing tossed in and a side of the Spicy Curried Couscous while my friend ordered Mama Chen's Chinese Chicken Salad with the dressing on the side as she was nervous about how mustardy it might be. A decent option for a healthy lunch. On my first visit I tried Mama Chen's Chinese Chicken Salad, which I thought was well below average as it was pretty small without a lot of flavor. I was back on a separate day with friends, and I tried The Modern Caesar - so much better! It comes with curly kale, chopped romaine, housemade superfood krunchies, shaved Grana Padano cheese, red onions, grape tomatoes, avocado, and lemon squeeze with classic Caesar dressing. I would also recommend adding the shaved, roasted chicken breast (+$3). While over $10 seems like a lot to pay for a salad, I would likely order The Modern Caesar again. i was in downtown houston and looking for a lunch place so decided to try mendocino farms. i have never been but heard good things about it. i tried their half sandwich + deli side as well as their cookie and another deli side. I ordered the vegan banh mi with tofu along with the spicy couscous and and a separate side got the pesto pasta salad. A big fan of Mendocino Farms. Food is always great, vegetables very fresh but still flavorful. I came during lunch hour on a weekday and food still came out fairly quick. The only minor issue is that it took a while to order because there was no one at the cash register for quite a while. Parking can be a bit difficult just bc it's downtown. I have been a frequent customer at Mendocino Farms and have always loved their salads. However, recently I noticed that the salad bowls are only half full for the same price of $18. When I brought this up to the manager, I was told that the salads are measured and that's how they are now. It's disappointing to see the portion size decrease when it used to be full and satisfying. This place has a great selection of options for non-veg, non vegan folks too. I had the tuna melt and potato leak soup one day and then came back for the amazing avocado quinoa super salad a bunch of times. To drink they have some iced tea, lemonade, filtered water, and sodas. They also have bags of chips that you can grab if you like something to snack on when you get back to your desk. I really like their lemonade though so if you have not tried it, it's worthy of mention. I will continue to try different items as I have yet to be disappointed in anything i tried. The soup once came out a little warm rather than hot and so I mentioned it on the way out and they even offered me a soup to go, but I declined the nice gesture.
