This was not our first choice. Our first choice was closed and so was our second choice. We chose Mene Sushi because it was nearby. The bowl that I ordered had an assortment of veggies and seafood. The asparagus was random. The seafood was not fresh and I couldn't eat it. I almost never waste food! The soup was okay and so was the salad. We won't be back.

Open until 9pm today. The health score on Y is quite low, rather concerning... Staff are all wearing masks. Socially distancing Gabel's still. I am forced to sit at the sushi bar or wait for a table. They put one single chair at the middle of the sushi bar. Kole is waiting on me. He's nice and mostly attentive. I started looking at the menu. Kole said bibimbaps can't be served at the sushi bar. He asked if I was thinking about bibimbap. I said I guess not as I closed over the menu. I ordered the bang bang, golden california, Hawaiian, grasshopper and spicy salmon pizza and a house salad. One house salad to go as well. Kole asked if I wanted regular soy or light soy. I told him no soy, only sriracha. It took a bit to get my order in after asking for a few minutes. The ginger salad is okay, not loving the iceberg lettuce or the thick pieces of the vein in it, but the dressing isn't bad at least. The golden California is good, has a nice crunch from the outside tempura. It's the better out of all of the rolls. The grasshopper is okay, not my jam. The bang bang is quite messy to eat, falls apart from the bottom, it's sits in a pool of eel sauce and thus the fallout. The spicy salmon pizza is so-so. The Hawaiian isn't bad at all. My second pick of a roll after the golden california. Food was okay. The service was better.

Good quality sushi. Novi and west Bloomfield has a lot of good sushi places so I am not surprised. I really like their udon. The stock is simple and clean. Feels like they really take their time to boil the stock instead of tasting like instant ramen packets like some other Japanese restaurants. In the same area, I think they are better than Kabuki

So, I was out and about looking for Chinese food on Christmas day and there was a few places open in the area. I ended up here because the chinese place across the street had a line out the door and was carryout only. I wanted to sit down since I was sick of sitting around the house all day doing nothing. It was between this place and the mediterranean next door. I chose this place because that's what I wanted. Walking in, the place has quite a bit of seating and has really nice decor. They have a bar area with TV's, tables and enough room for what seems like parties of up to 4. When I got there, the hostess completely ignored me and helped everyone else but me getting seated. Finally, a young man was nice enough to greet me and ask where I wanted to sit. Since I was alone, he sat me at the bar but no menus. After what felt like forever, and me walking to ask where the server was, a waitress came over and greeted me with a menu. I like that they have a little bit of everything here. Sushi, udon and several other dishes. Not the cheapest place in town but a great variety. I went with the Salmon sushi combo that came with soup Miso soup and ginger salad. The sushi guys behind the counter prepared and handed me my plates but no salad or soup. Neither the guy next to me or myself got it before our food. We had to flag the server down to ask for the salad and soup. I will say, being that it was christmas day, I'm trying to not be overly harsh, but the service here was super slow. Like extensive wait times all the way around. I had to ask for my bill three times, because the first time she ignored me and helped other people, the second time she combined my bill with the guy next to me thinking we were together, and the third because I was *so effing tired* of waiting I had to leave. I know it wasn't me personally, but the service lacked here all around. From the hostess ignoring me, to messing up the bill, to having to beg the waitress for my soup and salad it was really annoying. I would go here again but I'm hesitant because it was so frustrating that I don't know I have the patience to do it again. It seemed to be the theme here throughout with being shorthanded because I observed the people sitting at the bar with me who went through the same thing, along with a family sitting behind me. I will say, the sushi here was excellent, and maybe I should try it again when it's not a holiday. I dunno. Just be forewarned about it. Keep an eye on your bill to make sure it's right! I had to hover over the server to get her to split the bill even though I *told her* the man next to me and I were separate.

We have been coming here for two decades. There used to be a regular friendly reliable staff, and a crowd out the door. Our children have been coming since they were babies. I don't know what happened? New owners? This was not Mene at its finest moment. When we arrived on a Friday during prime dinner time only one other family was eating here. Perhaps this should have been our first clue. Eventually another group of people came. Our table was covered in soy sauce. I asked the Waiter for assistance and he said he would give me napkins so I could clean the mess someone else left. He never returned and my husband had to take a napkin from an empty table so I could clean the table. There were three servers, one for each table, plus a couple more in back, but instead of helping customers they leaned up against the wall and talked. Finally they gave us room temperature water with no ice. They now charge for tea, which they never had in the past. It took about half an hour to get our food, even though there were only two other tables. They also raised the prices by several dollars a dish. My daughter's udon soup was tiny, my husband's bibimbap only had a few pieces of chicken, and my sushi tower was not great. The rice was dry and old, probably due to lack of turn over of the product. Not enough people equals stale rice. There was hardly any avocado, and I had to ask two people four times for my side of spicy mayo. The server finally came with two extra napkins, and they only offered to refill our water after we paid the bill. I always have hope for our old standby, but I'm not sure we'll be back any time soon, very disappointed.

Not the best sushi in the world but basically the only sushi worth eating in West Bloomfield. Good atmosphere. Very popular restaurant.

Having spent time exploring Japan and eating plenty of sushi there, this is probably the closest I've come in Michigan to recreating that experience. The focus is on traditional and straightforward: quality fish, careful preparation, and letting the ingredients speak for themselves rather than covering everything in sauces and toppings. The sushi and sashimi have been consistently excellent across my visits, and I especially appreciate that the menu goes well beyond the typical American sushi restaurant. There are plenty of traditional Japanese dishes and chef's-choice options, so it's a place where I'm always tempted to try something different. The atmosphere adds to the experience too. It has this intimate, neighborhood Japanese restaurant vibe that reminds me so much of stumbling upon a sushi spot in Kyoto. If you love traditional Japanese food and care more about quality and authenticity than elaborate specialty rolls, Sharaku is absolutely worth the trip. One of the best Japanese dining experiences I've found in Michigan, and a place I'll continue coming back to.

AMBIANCE - the place seemed very cozy, with booths, a handful of tables and seating at the sushi bar. This place was JUMPING on a Tuesday. I'm actually glad I made reservations. Bunch of old Asian dudes working behind the sushi counter - place seemed legit. SERVICE - our server was very attentive and was helpful with recommendations. He was very patient as we had MANY questions about the menu, and what we should be getting. MENU - this place had a pretty extensive menu. The first page of the menu had their daily specials which seemed to be a pretty deep selection by itself. They had many of your standard Japanese fare, though their appetizer list seemed to be deeper than most. They also had a fair number of sushi combos, however, according to our server, those are all chef's choice, and said they tended to be more basic type rolls/fish. One thing that was unfortunate was that the sushi rolls did not have a description of what was included in them, so we had to get clarification on a few of the rolls we were interested in. FOOD - we decided to get a smattering of items. we started with the deep fried oysters, chicken karage, and some along with some fried scallops they had on special. The oysters were good, while the karage and scallops were just "ok." Good, but nothing to write home about. We also ordered a couple of rolls - we did the spider rolls (soft shell crab), a tempura shrimp roll, dragon roll, and two eel nigiri. The eel nigiri were excellent. The rolls while good.... left me wanting a bit. From the other reviews that I read, this place is good on quality, and less on the quality, and this was on full display with the rolls. Besides the nigiri, the rolls seemed light, especially our spider roll which was only 4 pieces (I dont think I've ever seen that before). Even the dragon roll seemed small. We probably could have just gotten more nigiri in lieu of dragon roll. OVERALL - while the food was good, for the price you pay, it does not seem worth it. Maybe if we had gotten more nigiri or chirashi, we could have appreciated it more, but this place was too far and too expensive for what it was. Maybe the lunch specials make it worth coming here, but this would not be anywhere on my list of places to go for sushi in the metro Detroit area. Celebrity Rating - Salt Bae

I turned myself around and located the restaurant in a small strip mall, along with other small, mom-and-pop businesses. Past lunch, guests were finishing up. I had already checked the menu the day prior, so I knew what I wanted. Unfortunately, the online menu is outdated; some items I had my eye on were no longer available. I had the calamari tempura instead of the spicy tuna salad, and had also ordered the Red Dragon (instead of the Saba Dong Roll) and Scorpion Rolls. A few other sashimi pieces rounded out the meal. The calamari tempura included thick calamari and thinly sliced vegetables in a thin coating. The Scorpion Roll was flavorful with texturally interesting, crunchy from the soft shell crab and creamy from the avocado. The eel sauce was delicious. By contrast, the Red Dragon Roll was rather bland. The saba sashimi was incredible, the tamago was more savory than sweet, but the yellowtail was also bland and unenjoyable. Service was fine. Also to note: The restaurant displayed a wondrous Lego collection. Not just any Lego, but the more challenging (and expensive) sets: Eiffel Tower, Titanic, Millennium Falcon, Destroyer, and the modular building, Grand Emporium. (Yes, I know my Lego)
