    Toriyaki and Edamame
    Daryl O.

We were nearby for volleyball and we got a craving for sushi so we decided to give this place a try. Very authentic Japanese atmosphere and wonderful service. We had edamame and toriyaki to start and both were delicious. The rolls were beautiful and good. Those that had the tempura weren't great only because they tasted like they'd been fried in stale oil. This was the only reason for the one star missing. Freshen up the oil vat and it's a perfect 5 star rating. There was only one other group on a Friday night so I have to believe COVID still deters people. They also mentioned that Novi was having trouble with their water so they didn't have any ice for the drinks and they served bottled water which is great since you know they are thinking of the customer.

Spicy California Roll & Rainbow Roll

Great food, amazing service. We got the tempura udon, a spicy California roll, and a rainbow roll. The soup was hot and the sushi was very fresh. Our server was very kind and did a great job. I highly recommend stopping here for some yummy and authentic sushi (and more)!

The food was spectacular from the miso soup & side salad (with ginger dressing), to the sushi roll to the main entrees. The selection was so vast with items we love, it was tough to decide and now can't wait to go back and get another one of our favorite Korean and sushi items. I have been eating BiBimBap for nearly 38 years and would have to say, Sushi 1's version was right up there with the best that I have had! The Bulgogi was stellar in its own right! We do have a favorite sushi place, but with its location being a bit farther than we like, we have been wanting to secure a closer place to get Sushi and after dining at Sushi 1 earlier this week, this has been taken care of. The quickness of getting all of our food was highly appreciated and it always nice to get service with a smile! Thank you so much for filling the void we have had for a while in getting the "full package" in our dining experience!

Tempura udon and a piece of Salmon Roe.

I've only been there once and I'm impressed so far. My "gold standard" meal that I get to compare one Japanese restaurant to another is Tempura udon, a piece of Salmon Roe nigiri and a spicy salmon roll. No restaurant will have broth that can ever compare to the one from my favorite restaurant, but this is still really good. The udon noodles weren't overdone, and I love that the tempura is served on the side so they don't get soggy. The piece of salmon roe nigiri was great as well. Every so often, I visit a place where the salmon roe tastes soapy, that's an indication it's not that fresh. Sushi 1's was not soapy. As far as the spicy salmon roll, I'll have to deduct a star for that. First of, it's not very spicy at all. Second, there wasn't all that much salmon in the roll to be begin with. Lastly, the roll looks bigger than it is because of all the cucumber filler. I'm happy to see Sushi 1 also has a Korean menu, I'm definitely looking forward to trying that out as well. I'm so glad to have found a good Japanese/Korean restaurant near my new office, I was getting desparate.

a really cute place, one of the best sushi places i've ever been to ! the portion sizes are very generous, with around 8 pieces for each roll definitely recommend and we will come again !

Have never had my sushi presented this way before! Top to bottom: California roll, Vegas roll, spicy salmon roll.

Five star sushi, but I gave four stars because they are significantly more expensive than other local places if you're ordering a few random rolls, like I usually do. (Ex, avocado roll here is 3.95, at my other sushi spot it is 2.50). It looks like lunch would be a good time to come; they offer a sushi lunch of 5 pcs sushi and a California roll for 9.95, which isn't bad. Hubby and I tried three rolls. 1) spicy salmon (which wasn't expressly on the sushi order sheet, but we asked and they made it for us). Very good. Came with big pieces of cucumber in it, which you could ask to be omitted if you wanted. 2) Vegas roll- this roll came out differently than a previous yelper described. It was very good, soft rice outside with shrimp tempura, crab, and two kinds of fish rolled inside. 3) California roll- the classic, flavorful and fresh tasting. Not an afterthought like I feel some California rolls can be. None of our rolls came out with any sauce, which I didn't request, but I was TOTALLY fine with it because I generally don't care for sauces on sushi anyway. I requested no masago on the California roll. The service was quick, attentive and friendly. I'll probably be back for lunch sometime. If you like Korean food, this place would open up a whole new world of possibilities for you. I'm only interested in the sushi though so that's what this review is based on. :)

It was ok, but not someplace I'll put in the rotation. The sushi was ok, but didn't taste the freshest. I didn't eat the nigiri I ordered.

Ambiance has always stayed the same: cute, cozy, and so comfortable. Now that the booths were removed and they only have regular table seating, service is a bit different (you order at the front or at the kiosk instead of someone taking your order), but I actually love how it all works! From an operational standpoint, I feel like it actually makes things go smoother and faster. Additionally, I don't know if it's just because I haven't had their sushi in a bit, but I felt like their portion sizes actually increased slightly (which is always amazing)!! Love love LOVEEE their sushi and hearty miso soup so much. Great selection of drinks from the fridge inside, and so many vegetables, fish, snacks, and essentials (e.g., hair care, toothpaste).

The premade food choices are growing by the day. They are always adding to their offerings with new flavors and tastes. I started coming to One world market in 1997 when it was first home by a husband and wife team. It was very special at that time to have a Japanese focused grocery store and I was so happy to have one in the Novi area. This has been my go-to for decades now. When it was transitioning from private ownership to the Noble Village group, owned by True World group, there was a transitional decline, thankfully, that didn't last long and things are developing very nicely. I hear even more growth is on the horizon as they establish an even greater presence in the building next door. I am also thankful that the integrity and the high-quality is very much present and everything they do. The service is always top notch and they try to open up a lot of lanes so people get through quickly because it is busier than ever. The word is definitely out. I've seen a lot of posts on social media and it's bringing in an even greater crowds, which is fantastic! Note: the on-line ordering is also so convenient and their sushi platters are high-level!

When you walk in the staircase alone just amazes you, we got seated right away. The elegance of this place is truly outstanding and it was very quiet and the sushi bar looked really nice. I ordered a Citrus Manhattan as a nice relaxing and refreshing cocktail and man did it hit the spot, at first it was very citrusy but give it a stir and it's quite fantastic. As an appetizer I ordered the Miso Soup and that was VERY delicious, the broth was very smooth. As for my Main Course I ordered two sushi rolls: Alaskan Roll & the Red Dragon Roll. Both rolls were very exquisite, the Red Dragon is something new I have never had before and I have to say that the spicy Mayo made it really good. I also had the Tempura Udon and it was very delicious. The egg yolk in the bowl was very creamy and the noodles were nice and soft. Everything here is very delicious. The restaurant has a romantic, upscale atmosphere, and the décor truly feels like a fine dining experience. We were seated on the upper floor, which made for a cozy and elegant evening. We ordered the gyoza, garlic butter mushrooms, mixed tempura, California rolls, a selection of sushi (can't remember the name), and a couple of drinks. The service was a little slow, but our server was friendly, attentive, and pleasant throughout the meal, so I appreciate her efforts. Unfortunately, the food was the biggest disappointment. Some dishes tasted like they had been prepared earlier than expected, though I'm not sure if that was intentional. Overall, the flavors and presentation were fairly average. Having enjoyed Japanese cuisine at many other restaurants, nothing we ordered stood out or left a lasting impression. The biggest contrast was between the restaurant's atmosphere and its food. The décor, lighting, and overall vibe create the expectation of an exceptional dining experience, but the food simply doesn't deliver at the same level. With a stronger kitchen, this place could easily become a standout destination.

My name is Dave and I'm here to say... it's alright. I love the whole stylistic blow-show they present when you first get a table. The post-war Japanese influenced architecture and plates/bowls. It's definitely eye candy; and speaking of candy, let's move onto the food. Moving on from the so-so transition into the food, I have a note. I haven't been here in a couple weeks, I'm quite late to this review. I don't remember the names of everything on the menu. Sorry, I have to go off of duct-tape memory and Yelp's 100% always working, fully functional AI generated menu system. My life is so easy! Would it sound possible that dessert was my least favorite thing we ate during our visit? Well, you'd be surprised. It's a backhanded compliment, but a compliment nonetheless. The Tofu Ramen was a little too soft but it had a nice flavor profile, and the Spicy Sushi we got was also quite nice. The Cherry-chapped Tempura we got was not enjoyable, even though it was prepared delicately and looked very attractive. Something about Tempura 90% of the time, it just shouldn't be a thing. (Says the uncultured white that has never experienced good Tempura). Overall, I respect Sushi House. I respect it because it tries, and I believe it doesn't attempt to be anything it isn't. However, it definitely feels more pretentious the more you dig in. (3/5)

Walking in should have told us what the experience would be, but I chalked it up to being a beautiful day and people probably cooking out instead of going out to eat. NOBODY there but us. Starting off, the waitress was extremely rude. Brother asked if he could get a bento box and she said yes, three bento boxes. Had to kindly clarify that myself and my husband were still looking at the menu and didn't want a bento box. She rolled her eyes and stomped away. I ended up with chicken teriyaki and tempura combination. My husband got the beef teriyaki and rice. My chicken was AWFUL, sliced super thin but it was extremely tough to chew and would not grind to small pieces. The tempura shrimp was super rubbery and I felt like I was chewing on a balloon. Both items I ended up basically swallowing whole because they would not reduce no matter how much I chewed. Now onto the worst item. My husbands teriyaki beef. He has been spitting and vomiting since we got home. He said it was really tough but it tasted ok. It had a lot of sauce on it so maybe that masked the rot. Only good thing was the miso soup, but you'd have to really try hard to ruin that. I would NEVER go back here. Between the extremely rude waiters and the awful food this place needs to be shut down.
