Updating my review to five stars because Sushi Weng truly deserves it! The sushi is fresh, the flavors are consistently delicious (mouth party every time), and the staff is incredibly friendly. They are a local treasure! We tried the Diane Roll for the first time today and loved the balance of cucumber crunch, crab and cream cheese--a fun, slight twist on my boyfriend's usual Philly Roll order. The Green Dragon Roll was especially good, with creamy avocado and plenty of sesame seeds for extra flavor. And of course, the Shrimp Tempura was just as tasty as ever. If you're looking for a great appetizer, I highly recommend the Gyoza. Thanks for another great meal, Sushi Weng.

    Best edamame ever!

This place is a staple for us and our friends!!! We eat there at least once a week and we all love it!!! The service is good and the food is amazing!! I still don't understand why the place isn't packed!! Try the onion chips!!! OMG so yummy. The crunch roll is a particular favorite!! Have not had anything I don't like!! Thank you Sushi Weng!!

From the left to the right, Las Vegas roll, volcano roll, And the love roll!

Sushi wing has hands-down, the best ginger salad dressing ever. My personal hack is to order a side of rice just so you can absorb more with every bite. The owners are lovely and the service is always good. We love the ambience and the owners.

I have been to this local restaurant a couple of times. I have tried different things on the menu, and everything I ordered is yummy! The service is pretty quick, and the ambiance is peaceful. I definitely recommended!

Start off with miso soup and green tea.... Good and relaxing

Great Food, fresh, fast service, friendly server, just what we wanted. 5 starsfor steak dinner, tender, no fat, great flavor, the vegetables were good with nice variety. Liked the miso soup, nice to be able to choose onion soup instead, if we wanted. Tempura vegetables filled the plate- broccoli, squash, yam, carrots, really good & crispy. Would have like a few fresh green beans too, those are always good. Good udon soup. Large portion. Sushi: Love roll and California roll, good fresh, well made. Enjoyed the 3 types of sauces. Down side: a few misses with delivery of food- rice and tempura sauce were not delivered at first... but did arrive a bit later. Instead of relaxing Japanese music or even Asian pop, we were "treated" to rap and hip hop. This made the Restauant feel more like a Generic Dennys.

I love this place. It's a smaller, locally owned sushi restaurant. There is seating both at a bar(where they mix up some pretty good drinks) & a main dining room area. The service I received was prompt, attentive, and efficient. Our server, Miranda, was so sweet and took great care of us. The food was delicious. We got the garlic rice, novi roll, and the california roll. All of them were awesome, but the garlic rice really shined for me. The spicy mayo was homemade and very tasty. Overall I would definitely recommend.

I have been a customer here since the very beginning. We were super excited that a sushi restaurant moved into a defunct coney. At first, I believe this place was called Happy Sushi, but since have changed their name to Sushi Weng. I am not sure why the name change, but I believe they are still the original owners. We have come here often over the years. My favorite time was when they had a happy hour. It was the the most amazing compared to happy hours available in the area, but I enjoyed their low priced beer and saki. I used to use that as an excuse to procure some good sushi before dinner. We cannot eat in here, and have not been able to come in for pretty much the entire extend of the pandemic, so it has been almost a year by now, but back in the day my daughter used to love their katsu chicken dinner. It was a large, juicy piece of chicken that was battered and fried and quite flavorful. We also use the love the fries. Even though they were simply food service type fries, whatever they fried them in (probably fried in the same oil as seafood) they were so yummy!!!! They went very well with the katsu, sooo good. When you get dine-in sushi here, it is nice and freshly made. I have never been disappointed by their food. For now we have carry-out only, but is was still very good and satisfying. I am not know for getting the healthier sushi, I do enjoy the tempura style rolls, and they do them so well. We got the tempura cali, Las Vegas roll, the Philadelphia roll, the shrimp tempura, and the Diane. I recommend all of them. Even though I wanted a snack, I can't leave here without getting those rolls. The prices are pretty good for sushi, some places can be rather expensive for even simple rolls. This place offers a good value, I payed $37 for six rolls. I am happy to see this place survive the times, and I am happy to see that they have a steady steam of customers supporting a small business.

Avocado roll, Veggie Roll and AAC roll. Yummy

Sushi Sushi Sushi. I've ordered takeout from Sushi Weng before, as its not too far from my house, but this was the first time I've actually dined in. In Oakland County you can throw a rock and hit 4 sushi restaurants so I feel as though I'll never try them all. Immediately as we walk in, we were greeted and given the choice to pick our seat. I feel the need to mention that, as there are sooooooo many restaurants that either has a host, but they aren't at the podium when you walk in, or don't have a host, so you're stuck in a awkward notion of not knowing if you should seat yourself while trying to make eye contact with who seems like a staff member. Luckily they recognized us as soon as we walked in. I'm all about the veggies so I ordered a cucumber salad, along with an veggie roll, an AAC( avocado, Asparagus and cumber) & an avocado roll. Everything tasted great but I ate it all so fast that I barley remember tasting everything as I was starving at the time. If you can't tell I really like avocado/cucumbers haha. The waitress was super nice and very knowledgeable of the menu, not that I had many questions, but still. Just like most sushi spots they're a large variety of rolls so there's always something for everyone. I'll definitely be stopping by again soon for my sushi fix.

This is a shame because when we both worked in Waterford years ago, there were THREE excellent Thai spots down on M-59, which is just a tad far for takeout where we are. We always try to check our food before we leave the restaurant if we carry out since I do not want to drive back, especially if it is far. I could already tell from the look of the food that it would not be my favorite. I ordered three sushi rolls. I checked those first. One, which was larger and not pictured here, was all there. The second, for some reason a smaller roll, also only had one roll. We told the cashier and the chef we were missing a roll. The cashier said to look in the small container, which I had already inspected right in front of her. It was not there. Then she needed to see it, and told me to show her. Then she wanted to see the receipt even though she knew we ordered three, she took the order. Then she asked me which one was missing even though she could see which ones we had and read the receipt. The names of the sushi rolls were so similar, I gave the ingredients of the missing item. Finally, they acknowledged they did not give it to me and had to make it. After going home, I tried the sushi. It was really the worst sushi I have ever tasted and I do not mind gas station or grocery store sushi. The rice was so super sweet, it tasted like pure sugar. The salmon looked like tuna and did not taste great. The larger sushi was about $14 and was not worth the price and the other two rolls were not fresh or delicious. Very disappointing. We also had Pad Thai, curry rice, and Pad See-ew. They were not overly flavorful and the noodles of the Pad See-ew were stuck together, and there were many spots of the rice that did not get mixed into the sauce or seasoning. The leftovers were not too bad, but still, I will not be back. Looking at the other reviews, people do seem to like it here, so I always say try it for yourself, we might have different tastes and opinions.

The Crab Crunch Roll wasn't a big hit amongst friends as the coating on the outside of the rice has a funny taste that we just didn't love. The miso soup came out first and was pretty standard. The Tako Su had large slices of octopus with plenty of cucumbers. It was decent, nothing standout. The gyoza was actually an accidental order because I thought I had ordered shumai. Looking back, I probably should've realized something was off when the server asked if I wanted them steamed or grilled. Ironically, they ended up being one of the better items. I took them home and even cold later on, they were still good. The sashimi appetizer had a nice variety and was probably one of the stronger dishes of the night. Unfortunately, the shumai completely missed the mark. It was very wet -- you can even see it in the photo -- and just not how shumai is supposed to be prepared. Personally, I think Asahi Sushi does this dish far better, including the sauce. The beef bibimbap was also disappointing for me. I love bibimbap served in a scorching hot stone bowl where the rice crisps up and caramelizes at the bottom. This lacked all of that. In my opinion, both Asahi Sushi and Sumo Sushi do bibimbap significantly better. If that's what you're craving, this wouldn't be my recommendation. As for the sushi rolls -- the S n T and White Tiger Roll -- they were just bland. Not terrible, not inedible, but very forgettable. Overall, my experience was okay, but nothing about it stood out enough to make me want to return. The servers were pleasant, but there were no recommendations or guidance offered, and the food never really moved beyond average. I ended up giving this place 2 stars for three main reasons: 1. The servers lacked recommendations or menu guidance. 2. The food overall was bland. 3. There are significantly better sushi options nearby. If you're looking for exceptional sushi, udon, and bibimbap, I'd personally recommend Asahi Sushi instead. It's only about 12 minutes away and, in my opinion, absolutely worth the drive for the quality, presentation, service, and overall experience.

Our server eventually came over with menus, and then it took another 7-ish minutes before we could even order. It wasn't even that busy, which made it more confusing. The miso soup was actually good, lots of seaweed and scallions, love that. But the spoon?? Tiny handle, thick base, and weirdly hot to hold. I felt like I was fighting it the whole time. The crab rangoon though? Delicious. Super creamy filling, not overly crunchy on the outside (which I personally prefer). And the dipping sauce was more on the liquid side, which honestly worked because it coated the rangoon really well instead of just sitting there like jelly. We didn't get side plates. At first they brought out a fork and knife instead of chopsticks (those showed up later with the sushi). Not a huge deal, just... odd. The soy sauce tasted old and STRONG strong. And the bottle was dirty, which didn't help. The floors were also sticky, my shoes were literally sticking on the way out. The whole place smelled like grease and now my jacket does too. Love that for me. Rolls: * Spider Roll - way too many scallions and kind of a weird flavor. * Shrimp Tempura Roll - actually very good, no notes. * Hellfire Roll - nice spicy kick and HUGE. Each piece was basically two bites. The worst part? I left with pretty bad stomach cramps, and these are super normal rolls for me that I order all the time elsewhere. There were a couple decent moments, but between the slow service, sticky floors, questionable soy sauce, and how I felt after... I probably won't be back. Or maybe just grab carry out and stick to simple rolls and those crab rangoons. If I left smelling like fryer oil (one of my biggest pet peeves) and clutching my stomach, I am not handing out 3 stars.
