An eye exam by an optometrist is suppose to be free every year under medicare. Instead extra tests were performed without my authorization. Medicare said they will not cover the additional tests. I do not recommend this division of Eye Assoc. of Santa Fe.

When I received the glasses, I was shocked to find they were much thicker than a pair I bought elsewhere with the same diopters--without paying any extra fees. 2. After my first exam, I needed a second one due to medical reasons, this time with Dr. Lisa Shin. She noted my prescription had changed but failed to update my CYL and Axis measurements. As a result, she prescribed glasses with the wrong parameters. When I received them, rectangular screens appeared trapezoid-shaped. I returned to her, but instead of checking her own mistake, she blamed it on my eyes "changing a lot." I asked her to check the glasses I was wearing to see what was wrong. Only the next day did she send me a new prescription with corrected values based on my old glasses. When I asked her to remake the glasses based on her own correction, she demanded that I pay again. I refused, since it was clearly her oversight. 3. I disputed the charge with my credit card company. Later, her office asked me to pay again for the first exam and return the incorrect glasses so they could refund the full transaction. I paid another $35, trusting they would resolve it. But the credit card company eventually told me the vendor had rejected my dispute, meaning I paid twice and ended up with nothing--not even the wrong pair of glasses. When I pressed the office, they finally sent me a partial refund check, deducting $16 as an "arbitration fee," which they claimed was charged by their bank. In reality, they passed their own cost onto me and again blamed me for disputing the charge. This is not just about money--I can afford the loss. IT'S ABOUT HOW THEY TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS . Dr. Lisa Shin refuses to acknowledge her mistakes, shifts blame onto patients, and looks for ways to charge for even the smallest things. Instead of resolving issues professionally, she makes customers pay for her errors. I would NEVER go back, and I strongly caution others before choosing this place!

We initially missed our first appt back in Dec '25 so I made sure that we made this spring appt! Dr M was so patient and friendly with my mom and we both really liked her! With my mom being elderly, Dr M took her time and made sure that my mom really understood every part of the exam and was clear and concise. My mom's prescript hadn't really changed so she was not going to write a new precription to save my mom money, but my mom wanted a new prescription so she could get some new eyeglasses and Dr M fine tuned it! She also recommended buying her new glasses at Walmart as they would be cheaper. The only improvement I would say is our appt was scheduled at 9:30am and mom was not seen until almost 10am. We didn't have any other appts that morning so that was not an issue, but if we had, it might have posed an issue. Offices are also very old and I even went to my reg MD there as a kid back in the day, so they are in desperate need of a remodel or razing and starting from scratch.

It takes MONTHS (not days or weeks) for replacements to arrive. I am still awaiting a correct prescription in May 2026 from a November 2025 visit!!!! In addition, i have had numerous cases where "after refurbishment" the lenses fall out. I highly recommend any provider over this one!!
