Bangus (milkfish) sinigang - a traditional soup with a distinctly sour, tamarind flavor
    George R.

One of the most honest, authentic eating experiences you'll find near the cruise ship terminal. Our Filipino crew all seemed eager to visit in their off-time. So we had to give it a try, and it didn't disappoint. As good/better than many Filipino restaurants in larger, more populated cities. Longanisa and bbq pork skewers are the easy choice for Filipino food newbies. The sweet/savory thing paired with rice makes for a tasty, filling meal. You can't go wrong ordering it at most Filipino places and this one is no exception. The garlic and ginger came through well in the arroz caldo. Chicken was tender, falling off the bone. Pork in the dinuguan was very tender, and the dish was pleasantly sour, not overly so. The bangus sinigang had okra in it, not something I was used to. But the texture held up and pleasantly absorbed the broth. Loved the whole dish. If you're not accustomed to bangus, be warned: this fish has thin, sharp bones that you'll need to pick out as you eat. Halo-halo took a while to prepare - and we understood why after it came out. Was loaded with ube, beans, jelly, ice cream, flan, etc. Was more than enough for our family of 4 to share. The puto was okay - reminded me of a moist madeleine. This variation was okay but was really hoping for the other variation I'm more familiar with: a little more white, slightly sour, less sweet, no cheese.

Service was prompt and super friendly! Food serving was generous and DELICIOUS. Clean place to have comfort food on a rainy Alaskan day.

This was our first port stop during our Alaskan cruise. I have heard that Alaska does have a decent filipino population so I just had to give it a try. Small place but in a great location. Great water views. They had some traditional snacks like shrimp chips. They also had a small but good selection of dishes such as pancit and dinuguan. We didn't want to eat too much but wanted to try. Had to pork siopao and turon. No complaints. Folks were nice. 3 stars because I didn't get to try everything. But I'd stop here again.

This is a cool place to get some Filipino food. I got the pancit and lumpia. When the cruise ships arrive, it gets crazy busy. Check it out.

Walking around during a rainy day in Ketchikan I decided to stop by here for some warm food. It's a quaint mom and pop shop with a variety of Filipino options to choose from. I decided on trying their shanghai lumpia. I was unaware that 3 come in an order and got 3 lol. They came out hot, delicious and crisp. It also came with a side of sweet and sour sauce. They had counter service and they were polite. Their menu has has caldo, dumplings, and bao buns. It's a great stop if you're in the area for a nice warm meal.

So we tried their food at the Blueberry festival and were a little disheartened to find their vegetarian lumpia and pancit included meat(just not the same amount as the regular lumpia). However, my sister and I visited the restaurant and granny rehabbed our little pescatarian hearts. We ordered the shrimp with garlic fried rice, and a veggie pho. Everything was made to order, and the cashier let us know they were based off her grandmas recipes. And grandma was right there prepping our orders, checking over everything. Pho broth is usually hit or miss for me. This one was hearty and made me feel like I was eating a home cooked meal. I wish there were more veggies but was content with the broth I really didn't mind. Good portion size. The shrimp... was so well cooked. First bites are everything, and my sister and I were both nodding our heads in sync. Seasoned perfectly and paired nicely with the garlic rice). Nice size with leftovers. Ask for sauces, they have so many well made ones! We had to thank grandma for the food and she was so bashful with the praise. It was such an intimate experience, and I would go again.

I feel like this is a bit of a hole in the wall spot, it's family owned and operated if I'm not mistaken. The view is great (when there's not a cruise ship docked there) and the food is fantastic. Mary is an absolute joy and the food rivals any other Filipino food I've had. I would 100% recommend this place to any lumpia lovers.

De-freaking-licious! Authentic Filipino food that hits the spot every time! Their pho is a large portion and I love being able to adjust the heat factor with the toppings on the side. The pancit tastes just like my friend's grandmothers. Subtle chicken flavor that compliments the entree. Oh and the lumpia! Way better than a regular egg roll. Must try if you haven't. Cannot wait to visit and eat there again.

This Filipino restaurant is pretty good. We order the dumplings and the chicken and rice soup. I didn't get a photo of the soup cs by the time I got it, my husband finished eating. It took a while but it was so good on a rainy day. I will definitely come back for pho

The food here is good, if you are looking for authentic filipino food in Alaska. I was able to order the diniguan and Palabok.

We tried the fish sampler with halibut, salmon, and cod, and it was amazing. My favorites were the halibut and cod--fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. I'm not usually crazy about salmon, but my wife really enjoyed it, especially her blackened salmon with rice, teriyaki sauce, coleslaw, and malt vinegar. The hickory smoked seasoned fries were also very good. Even though Alaskan Fish House is extremely busy, the service was very friendly and the system moved well. There was about a 40-minute wait to order, but once inside, we found a table right away with no waiting. Great food, great service, and definitely worth the stop in Alaska!

Let's start with the first point since that's what you're here for: The batter on the fish and chips is well-fried but bland. The dungeness crab is nothing to call home about. Save your money and buy crab from Costco or across the street--unless you want to spend $50 for 1lb of mediocre crab. The fries and salmon chowder are honestly the best part as other reviews have indicated. But everything is absurdly overpriced and nothing special. The latter point is what drove my rating from a 3 to a 1. Seating is self-serve. Tables are packed inside, so naturally after ordering food, we find available seating at the tables in front of the restaurant. 25 minutes later, a young girl with blonde hair brings out part of our order along with a snarky comment, "Next time, can you guys let us know if you're going to sit outside." Excuse me? Next time, why don't you tell me where I should sit if the tables DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF your restaurant are not an area you check when serving food, despite there being a sign about seating literally next to those tables? Then a second girl with red hair comes out and adds, "You guys can't drink alcohol outside." We apologize and explain that we didn't know. "Well there are signs everywhere." Okay. There are literally NO signs that say that (I challenge you to take a look through all the atmosphere photos from other reviewers and find one with the sign about 1. "notifying the staff you'll be sitting outside" and 2. "not bringing alcohol to the tables in the front") EXCEPT at the back patio of the restaurant... which no one would see if they're sitting inside or in front. Of course, we still respect the restaurant rules and move our stuff to their back porch "seating" (5 chairs propped against a fence with a 4-inch ledge) and finish dining. Upon leaving, we were met with glaring stares from the 2 girls behind the counter. Absolutely unacceptable behavior from a highly rated restaurant. Here's a tip for the waiters: if your customers make a mistake, kindly redirect them rather than assuming they did it with malicious intentions. And don't double down on your accusations if the customer apologizes. Here's a tip for cruisers to get better food for better value: try the fish and chips or fish tacos in Juneau at Deckhand Dave (MUCH tastier and MUCH cheaper at $21 for Halibut fish and chips), and eat at other local restaurants in Ketchikan instead.

So we stocked up on items worth over $200 total, including some gifts for our friends. Then, on the way out we saw another shop just around the corner and decided to see if we could get a few more things. Well... that other shop had mostly the same items but at much lower prices. In the most extreme case, we're talking the same exact item (brand, size, and packaging) costing $5.95 when we just bought several of those at the Salmon Market for $16.95 each! I could understand a $1-2 price difference between different stores, but this was ***3x the price***... We went back to see if we could return them so we could buy them at the other store, and Salmon Market ended up price matching which means this item was never worth anywhere near that price and they absolutely knew that. This left a sour taste in our mouths and I suggest you shop around 2-3 other stores before buying anything there.
