The security are friendly and helpful. The employees here were all very friendly. The traffic department was closed on the day we went which was the due date but the lady working in a different department. Said she noted the account and that we could come back on Tuesday with no penalty. We came back to take care of the ticket and the young lady who helped us. Helped us to set up a trail date to clear the ticket as it was a fix it ticket. To our surprise it wasn't that bad. It's just that people get tickets and hate it lol So no wonder for the bad reviews but it's not the courts fault. So they get 5 star's for working fast, being friendly, and helpful.

I got my notice for jury duty and began calling in daily to see if my group number was needed. Day…read morethree I was to report. I parked in the stadium lot P1 like the notice says. There's plenty of signs telling jurors where to park. I can't believe how many people parked in the wrong place and had to move their car. The summons has the lot address, everyone has a phone. Google it if you're not sure. I was able to check in outside online while waiting for the doors to open. A Sheriff instructed everyone to remove anything metal from their body before going through the metal detector. So many people didn't and this held up the line a bit. These are probably the same people that parked in the wrong lot. Once in the Juror room on the 3rd floor I took a Juror badge and took a seat. They had goodie bags, bottle water, coffee, and pastries since it was Jurors Appreciation Week. Before the orientation videos several judges look time from their courtroom to come to the jury assembly room to show their appreciation. Senator Umberg was also there. It was nice to see all these people. It was a slow day. Not many courtrooms needed jurors. My name wasn't called. Many of us were let go earlier than expected.

The rest of the info is spot on and will give you a good idea of what to expect. Pay attention to the number of groups that are told to report at the same time you are. When I went only about 10 groups were told to report, and the assembly room was mostly empty, making it easy to get one of the seats with a power strip. But we were told that on a busy day with lots of groups reporting there can be standing room only. Oh, and if you're tempted to take some photos and post them here, they explicitly told us that no photography was allowed withing the courthouse building. Be careful! :)

He disparaged the legal system of Italy twice. He talked about Scotland and Australia. It made me think that if our system is so good, then why did Mr. Brown spend an hour advertising it. Also, his questions to the prospective jurors seemed to try to eliminate any "trouble makers".

There are so many inefficiencies in the system. I don't think the government system takes feedback or makes process improvements, but hopefully this review helps someone with their Jury Duty experience. At this courthouse, you receive a summons and you actually have to CALL 5pm the day prior to check if you need to physically come in. Considering they made me go online and fill in all this stuff, why can't I check some status online? If you have to report in person, the dress code is business casual. Although I feel like a lot of people were way more casual casual and they weren't sent home to change like the threat on the phone. In the room where the potential jurors meet, we were told to listen to a video but the TVs were unevenly distributed and the audio was awful. Then when we were suppose to find ourselves on these lists, the names were written in a thin white font that was hard to read. A lot of do this and wait, do this and wait. During one of my breaks I went to the restroom on first floor and it really needs renovations. No automated/sensors. In the women's bathroom on 1st 2 out of 4 sinks were broken. Then I made the mistake of getting a snack at the café inside the courthouse. Since they have no competition and they're the only option, they get to be slow inefficient and burn your food... in my case burnt my food twice. It was also so hectic as they didn't take names down, they just called out the type of order, so if multiple people ordered the same thing they all go up and look confused. I waited for ever for them to call me back saying they forgot what I ordered... Then it was burnt. I came back... They remade it... Burnt again. Pointless. I didn't have time to deal with them a third time. On a more positive note, this is the furthest I made it along in the jury selection process. I won't give any detail to maintain the confidentiality but I can say they ask questions to make sure there are no conflict of interest or strong biases that would negatively affect either parties. It was nice to see the justice system at work. Obviously the Jury Duty experience is a civic duty, but the courthouse really need some renovations to make the jury experience less awful.

I arrived on time, went through security, checked in, and proceeded to the jury assembly room. After waiting for several minutes, we were told that the start time had been pushed back to 9:00 AM. A short time later, another announcement was made that it would be pushed back to 10:45 AM. When 10:45 came and went, we were then informed that the start time had been pushed back again -- this time to 1:30 PM. We were also told that we could leave the building but were required to return by 1:30 PM. This experience shows a serious lack of consideration for people's time, responsibilities, families, and livelihoods. Many people cannot simply spend an entire workday sitting around waiting with no clear information. Some of us have jobs where missing hours means losing income, and not everyone can afford that. I understand that court proceedings can be unpredictable and that delays happen. However, there needs to be better communication, organization, and consideration for the people being asked to serve. People are making arrangements, missing work, paying for childcare, and rearranging their lives to fulfill a civic responsibility. The jury system depends on people showing up and doing their part. The court system should show the same level of respect for the people who are being asked to serve. Today's experience has left me feeling that the system is seriously broken when it comes to respecting the time and circumstances of ordinary people.

It's a comfortable experience both through the hallways and in the courtrooms. Banning Courthouse has stairs, an elevator and a few ramps for a variety of visitors. A juror assembly room is also available where large groups of jurors gather before being called for jury selection. The juror assembly room has limited vending machines and a fridge for your convenience. The courtroom gallery seats are a little uncomfortable but everything else was fine. Security is a bit rude at times but once they get to know you they cool off and are a little more cordial. Note: If you're here for jury duty and need a slip each day you're here, go down to the juror assembly desk and the folks there will give you an attendance certification.
