I recently visited two different Men's Wearhouse locations in the Salt Lake area while trying to get a suit for our wedding party, and both experiences were terrible. The first location was in Sandy, Utah. My group and I walked in and were literally the only customers in the store, yet not a single employee bothered to help us. The employees sat in the back on their phones and never once came out to assist. After waiting and looking around for a while, we finally just left. Thinking that maybe it was just a bad location, I went to the Murray location, which for years had provided great customer service. Unfortunately, it looks like things have changed. A woman initially pointed me in the right direction, but after that there was zero assistance. Instead of helping customers, she went to the front of the store and spent time joking around with the other employees. In the past, this location would actually help you fit the suit properly, suggest alterations, and make sure everything looked right. That's what I expected again, especially since I was planning on having alterations done. Instead, I got almost no help and ended up deciding I'll be taking my business somewhere else. Based on my experience and the recent reviews online, this seems to be the new standard of service at Men's Wearhouse--employees who don't care and management that doesn't respond. After this experience, I won't be going back. If this is the level of service they're comfortable providing now, I wouldn't be surprised if this company folds up like a lawn chair when it gets cold outside read more

$50 to let out the waist on pants? Went in today. I bought a suit here a while back and needed to have it altered. It took a while to get some help. When she told me how much, I left. I spent enough in the suit, and could get it tailored for less. There is no price list, so it is whatever the sales person wants. read more

They advertise "you're going to love the way you look, I guarantee it." well they dont GAF anything about you. I Walked in and after 20 min asked for help and got an opposite our request, oversized ;ripped) coat, to try on, didn't fit, so after that 1 interaction they just threw their hands up and said "ohh well that's all we got". I will NEVER go to this establishment EVER AGAIN and I will convince everyone I know or encounter NOT to as well. read more

Do yourself a favor and do not rent your tuxes from Men's Wearhouse. I could go on about how many mistakes they made with 90% of our wedding party. Even after getting fitted seven months in advance, the orders were all wrong just three nights before the wedding. Despite reordering jackets and pants that arrived the night before, several still didn't fit. The father of the bride's jacket was too small to wear. Men's Wearhouse responded by saying they could order a larger jacket, but it wouldn't arrive in time. They didn't seem to care that the orders were incorrect, but they sure enjoyed charging $300 per tux. Do yourself a favor and rent your tuxes somewhere else. read more

Wow. Crappy tux rentals with bait and switch service. Can't best that combo. Went in today for a prom rental for my boy . Started up charging left and right and the tux selection was sparse. I guess there is a reason why they have the worst ratings. Also, when I said there store was the most expensive, they didn't have an answer. Especially when their clothes and suits they sale are super cheap. Like cheaper than mr Mac cheap. At least mr Mac knows what they sell and create far more value. I called about suit rental for a wedding and got hung up on. Called back and was told to come in the week of the event. When I asked if I could come sooner to ensure I got what I needed, they said no. I have rented here previously for my wedding and groomsmen and have bought thousands in dress clothes over the years. Walked in and was not greeted. Looked around for 5-10 minutes. Listen to the lady who worked there trash on Utah and tell everyone in the store which was mostly employees how crappy Utah is and how great San Francisco is and how that location has nothing fashionable or that looks good. So of course, upon hearing that the location I walked into has nothing that looks good. I am not motivated to buy anything there. So I leave and I never come back. I was just in San Francisco and my rental car got broken into. Here in Utah I leave my house unlocked most the time. So I guess there's a give-and-take. read more

TLDR; manager made multiple insensitive comments about age and weight; I'd avoid this location if you don't want to be body/age shamed. Wish we'd read the reviews first as several of them mention similar shaming experiences. Also some of the 5 star reviews on here were left by employees (looking at you, Miles!) which seems super dishonest. I want to preface this review by saying that this store has a great selection of suites and the staff seems knowledgeable. My husband and I went in a month or so ago to order him a suit for an upcoming wedding and were pleased with the experience, so pleased that we recommended this location to my brother. We went in with him today to give him feedback on a suit for the same event. The manager (pretty sure his name was Doug) helped us this time around and, while he was knowledgeable and gave some good feedback, he was very insensitive with many of his comments. He called my husband and I "mom and dad" several times (not a big deal, whatever) then seemed to pick up on the fact that we weren't talking with my brother like a mom and dad would. He then asked for my husband's age, didn't believe him when he told him, asked MY age and didn't believe me when I told him; apparently we look MUCH older than we actually are. In addition, while trying to help my brother find the right fit he kept making comments about his weight, just little things that were rude like "a guy of your girth" and "I'm surprised your neck measurements was so small, I was not expecting that", etc. Perhaps unintentional but insensitive and rude nonetheless. And it wasn't just one or two comments, it was comment after comment for the entire duration he was helping us. Someone much smarter than me once told me to only ever comment on things about a person that they can quickly change (shoes, shirt, etc) as anything else would be outside of their control and rude to mention. The staff at this location either need to learn some tactful ways to communicate with customers or need to learn NOT to comment on things outside of their control. We have several more family members needing suits for this upcoming event and we will be telling them to avoid this location. read more

We had a great experience at Men's Wearhouse in Sandy, Utah. Friendly staff helped my husband find the perfect suit for my daughter's wedding. The alterations were high quality and fast. He changed his mind about the length of the pants the day before the wedding, and they got him right back in and cheerfully re-hemmed in about 10 minutes. We need a cane to get around, we came in and they had chairs so we sat down. Several people acknowledged us and they would be with us in a moment. We were helped rather quickly. We needed to make some changes to our wedding group order and were in the area to shop at South Towne Mall so we came to this location even though we started our order at the Murray location. Sean helped us out and he was spectacular. Extremely helpful and super patient as we went through all the options trying to pick the perfect color. He pulled out jackets to lay it out with colors so we could see everything. It was so much easier than our first experience and super grateful for his help to pull our looks together and help my vision come to light. He took hi time processing everything to make sure he made all the changes correct in the system since our groomsmen had all already come in to commit their measurements. We ran into an issue where the vest we wanted was not available in a size for one of the groomsmen and instead of making us have to start over and try to find something else, he made some calls to see if we could get the vest made in the size we need and they made a special suggestion to help us fulfill the order. I can't rave enough about the outstanding level of customer service we received today. I will drive out of my way to come back to this location for the rest of our needs leading up to the wedding and beyond. It's a much more welcoming and inviting store and not as hectic and cluttered. And all of the staff in the store were great from the moment we walked in until we left. read more

I came into this unimpressive location to be ignored for most of my time there. Their intention is to mass produce product, and lazily supply wares and services, don't come here if you want a custom fit, or have any preference on your appearance. Austin was the first person who helped me.. he's a nice boy about 17 years old, but he knew little to nothing tailoring or the trade. Lee was the older gentleman that 'helped' me in the store.. poor measurements were made, with severely lacking options, and any concerns I had seemed to flit out the window. I was sold to, I was not a happy customer.. I was guiltfully pushed into a purchase that I didn't want.. and was forced to come in within a few days to cancel my purchase. The unfit jacket that Lee sold me barely fit, was unfitted, had hideous white buttons on the cuffs, and had a garish and terrible white inner lining.. nothing was specially fit, and overpriced for what it was. read more

We had such a great experience buying my sons suit from the Sandy, UT location. Lee was our salesman and the lady who assisted us with alterations once the suit came in was so efficient. Worst experience I've ever had. Picking out and choosing what to wear to daddy daughter prom was very excited very fun. Once order was ready to pick up there was a misunderstanding or miscommunication on their end about what the actual color and design was. The lady could care less. I even offered to buy something in store because of my obvious dissatisfaction. I had already paid full amount during choosing what to wear and her attitude was basically this is what your getting. Decided to spend the rest of the night out shopping for something I'm going to like the way I look in to make my daddy daughter prom special. I would never recommend this place and they definitely didn't guarantee anything. False advertising and out over $200.00 but I'm sure she'll sleep fine while I'm out stressing and buying a suite with no time to get fitted. read more

Went in to get fitted for daughters wedding. Girl was not sure how to measure and I was getting a little nervous but she ask the manger to help and he did. When we went to pick up the rentals four out of seven we're not the correct size. One pair of pants was three sizes too small. When I ask the assistant manager if we could get the right size of pants he said they might be available the day of the wedding an hour before the wedding starts, when I said that was not acceptable he actually told me it wasn't his fault and told me to figure it out. I ask what happens if the pants split. He then said I would have to pay for the damages Of $200 I said that why I want the right size. So for these guys one star. Came into this location a few days ago to get measured for a suit. I am attending a wedding and the suits are being tailored by the grooms tailor of choice. So I just needed my measurements. Couldn't find anyone in store who worked there. Found them watching TV, looked like maybe both employees there. Got my measurements by some kid who just kept watching TV and could care less about me. Well guess what, you got my measurements wrong. Thanks a lot. Will not return to one of these. I'll go to a higher end place where someone actually care and know what they are doing. read more

Walked in knowing nothing about suits and got told that the only suit worth buying was from Men's Wearhouse for $600. Once again, don't know much about suits so we told him that seems a bit high as we really don't need the suit more than once or twice. He said that he would send us to their competitors because they make cheap stuff and then he'll see us back in his store when that suit falls apart. Yeah, they won't be seeing us again based completely on the fact that the guy was a complete donkey. If you're looking for a suit and don't know much, I'd advise against this place as they seem unwilling to help. read more

We went here to get my boyfriend a suit for an upcoming wedding, the customer service was horrible. They didn't seem interested in helping us, once they did it was as if we were bothering them. We paid nearly 300 for a suit. I went to pick it up from being altered it had not been pressed and was handed to me without a bag. I asked for a bag and was told they were out! He once again didn't seem to care I was even there, the suit was also wrinkled and hadn't been pressed. My boyfriend called the store and was not happy and he was told they didn't know how I got out without a bag for the suit, denying that they had told me they didn't have one. We have a large wedding party in need of suits and they have lost our business! I would never go back or recommend them to anyone. read more

Just visited this store to pick up a shirt for my wedding. As soon as I waked in the door I was sarcastically mocked by a higher-up leaving the store. You would think they would have more professionalism but I'm not surprised. Any who, my parents purchased a suit for myself, my dad, and clothes for all of my groomsmen, probably around $2,000. So my mom received a $50 certificate to use in store. As I walked in the door to purchase a $100 shirt the higher up says "certificate shopper". Not being blind to sarcasm behind the remark I turned around to look at him. I was half tempted to walk right out. As I mentioned my parents already spent $1,000 themselves. If your annoyed by a customer using a certificate from the hundreds they've already spent maybe you shouldn't offer it. I'll do everything I can to avoid this men's warehouse in the future. read more

I had an issue with two of my husbands suits that were damaged while in the protective bag given to my by Men's Wearhouse. My husband was so sad about it. I called and explained the situation. I went in and met with the manager Jay and he took great care of me and exchanged both the suits and all I have to pay is the alterations. I was very pleased with the service I was given. The customer service here is horrible! My wife came to this location because she is in the line of a family members wedding. The first time she went in was to get fitted for the pants and a button up shirt she was requested by the bride to wear. The woman that helped her (I believe Katie) was very bothered by the fact that she is a female who was going to be wearing a men's pair of suit pants and a button up shirt at this event. Seriously! How is that any of your concern? Well she pushed hard to get my wife to reconsider and wear a woman's pant suit. Now, my wife is very clearly more of an Ellen DeGeneres type of lesbian NOT Portia de Rossi. So why Katie felt it her duty to keep commenting on how she should dress was beyond me. The second time around she had to go in to pick up the pants and shirt. Considering her last encounter, she was hoping to just get her things and go. Unfortunately, she got the displeasure of working with miss Katie yet again. She had my wife try on the pants to "make sure they fit". The pants did in fact fit but had minimal bunching at the pockets. Katie was frustrated and tried to loosen them until she finally said "that's what you get when you decide to wear men's clothing". Dear Katie - If that is your opinion then that is fine. Everyone is entitled to one but that doesn't mean you need to share it. Especially at a place you are getting paid for a very specific service which was in fact NOT fashion advice! By far, one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had in my life! We walked in and told them we were looking for a boy's suit and told that they were in a corner and that someone would help us... The entire 20 minutes we were there no one spoke to us once! And there was only one other customer in the place. When I told them as I was leaving that I was disappointed in the customer service, not one person would talk to me! I visited the Men's Wearhouse in Sandy a few weeks ago and had a wonderful experience! Although the store was pretty busy and there was all the hustle bustle of Christmas coming up the salesman who assisted me (named Mike Zee) made it an enjoyable experience. Now I'm not one who knows much about fashion much but my husband is quite the stylish type and enjoys fine clothing. My salesman was kind and patient with me as I asked many questions. He did not make me feel silly or dumb for not knowing much about the different suits and styles. He explained the makers and talked about the differences in the suits. He also remarked about the quality of the clothing. Mr. Zee was very attentive to me and helped me choose some nice "gifts" for my husband. He could not believe that I did so well! (thank you Mike). I will certainly be back again and would recommend this particular store to everybody! read more

When you receive as great as service as I have had, you are obligated to give the business a great rating and hopefully help others make a choice. It's a long story so bear with me. I think you'll learn something about these good folks and the sense of good business they have. I've been putting off buying a suit because my wife and I are on a weight loss program. I just couldn't put it off any longer. All of my suits were impossibly too small for me. I went to the store on a Friday evening to hopefully find the least expensive, but decent looking suit that would get me by for the next 6-8 months. This knowing that I'd like to buy a very nice suit in the future as a reward. Clara greeted with a pleasant smile took my criteria to heart. She was understanding and didn't try to up sell me at all. I did find a nice looking suit that fit perfectly but it was $50 more and she didn't try to dissuade me from my goal. So we kept looking. What a sweetheart! She was exhausted from a sleepless night before. (I learned later, a large part of that sleeplessness was her anxiety over all of the suit alterations that needed to be done and the commitments she'd made.) With the decent, "low budget" suit in hand Clara introduced me to Dianne, the tailor. Again, a very pleasant and understanding person (I was beginning to feel guilty about this much attention to this $150 suit.) No problem. Dianne/Clara give me a pickup date of 1 week on a Friday. I needed the suit for a meeting that next Saturday so it was just fine. She reminded me that from then on, any alterations they worked on could be taken in for no charge as I lost weight. About mid-week, Lee, the assistant manager, called to see if I would accept a delay of 1 day as they had a backlog of 50 person hours of tailoring to do. I told him "No problem...I can get by until Saturday night but then it becomes a hard and firm 'must have.'" It impressed me that he knew his team's work estimate and available person hours (that he gave me in minutes) that far in advance. Saturday night I went in at the appointed last hour and found that Dianne was still working on the suit. Lee explained that the other tailors during the week were not entirely sure of a measurement she'd made so they held off until she could be there. In short, Lee explained that "the suit is in pieces in the back" and, without a negative attitude, factually explained that "the tailors had already put about 3 hours into it." Now I really felt bad that it was a very inexpensive suit. I calculated that they had long ago lost their profit margin. But now the dilemma...Saturday night, 9 pm and closing time, suit in pieces and me with no alternative suit for church Sunday. Jim asked, "May I deliver it to you when she gets it done later tonight." Are you kidding me?! I explained that I live about 35 minutes away clear out in the South Jordan area. Unwavering, he got my address and told me he'd bring it to me. Sure enough...at 10:30 PM, Jim showed up at my door with a perfectly fitting suit. It looked great (on this not so great looking guy.) Again...not a hint of negative attitude with these great folks . And...where do you think I'll buy my "reward" suit! Absolutely NOT A QUESTION!!!
