No reservations, seated immediately. 1.5 hours before closing Cory was our server and was outstanding. Cory made suggestions and knew the menu well. My sister ordered the broiled seafood combo and I ordered the bacon horseradish scallops with a side of spaghetti. For appetizers, we split a wedge salad and shared a calamari. Salad was fresh and was constructed as most wedges are. Calamari was breaded nicely , but the marinara was delicious as I have ever had . Prices were fair . The decor was a taste of each decade(5) they have been in business, cluttered but I enjoy this style. Both entrees were prepared flawlessly, although my sisters meal was a step above mine When I am back in the area , I will definitely be back to try more of the menu . read more

I finally got a reservation to the Haunted Dining Experience after hearing about it for many years. We loved the decorations and was pleasantly surprised to find the entire dining room was in theme as well. We had some time to kill while waiting for our table so we went through the dining room to check out the decorations. We loved that the whole room was lit using black lights and enjoyed the small animatronics. After checking out the decorations, we still had quite a while to go before our table was ready. I think it might've been 45 minutes after our set reservation time? Aside from that, the rest of the night went without a hitch. For dinner, we got chicken francese and flounder francese. Both were really delicious and cooked perfectly. There was a generous serving of both the main dish as well as the pasta and other sides. I also ordered an Apple Pie martini and loved it. The rim was coated in sugar instead of salt which I thought was neat. It really did taste like apple cider. When asking for the dessert menu, we were pleasantly surprised when our server came out with a plate of desserts. She explained what each one was and I liked being able to see exactly what we were getting. They could use a little more variety in the dessert department though, I don't recall seeing or hearing anything other than cakes. We did end up ultimately choosing the white and dark chocolate cake which was the perfect amount of sweet. We were very pleased with our dinner and the Halloween experience. The Haunted Dining experience was fun, but I honestly wouldn't say it's a "must do". I'll definitely be back when they open for the next season, they seem to have some interesting other decor that I couldn't see well under the black lighting. I always love going to Menz! Our most recent visit we had the fried tomatoes and calamari. Both were really good! I also got a watermelon sangria that they make with fresh watermelon and it was sooo good! My go to is usually the crab imperial stuffed shrimp and I paired it with their Mac and cheese and zucchini. All of it was delicious! I need to especially point out that their Mac and cheese is amazing, not every place gets Mac and cheese right, but Menz has it down for sure! I'm also a sucker for the blueberry muffins that come in the bread basket. The service is always great, you can tell they all work together to help each other. The atmosphere is definitely unique and a little haunted mansion type vibes in some parts but I enjoy eating at places that are different and not just one note. Would love to come back when they do their Halloween stuff! Looking forward to my next meal here. read more

I've been coming to the shore for 30 years. I've always loved coming to Menz. A few years ago I had their scallops with bacon dish. It was so good. I couldn't wait to go back and get it this summer. Well I did a few weeks ago and it was almost inedible. I did pick out the scallops and eat them but the bacon was nothing but uncooked fat. My kids love it there so we have it another shot and I got something else. My husband got the chicken parm and it was terrible. Weird breading that was falling off the chicken. My kids got the pasta and both said it was disgusting. I got the stuffed shrimp this time and it was okay but nothing to write home about, especially for the price. So sad because I really did always love coming here. There are much better places at the shore to eat at. read more

5/19/24. Go for the interesting decor alone! Friends recommended Menz as a really unique dining experience. The restaurant is filled with antiques and ghosts of the past. Very interesting surroundings. When you go, be sure to mosey around and look at the interesting items that abound. I learned that most were donated. I loved the authentic stained glass windows- gorgeous. I ordered the coconut shrimp for 29.99. There were five huge butterflied shrimp served with delicious plumb sauce. The side I chose was macaroni and cheese. The macaroni was over cooked and mushy and it didn't have much flavor. I was very happy with the shrimp. Before the entree I had a salad- it was fresh and generous. Each entree cones with 2 sides and a salad is considered a side. Bobby Jo was our server. She was delightful and attentive. It is likely I would go back if I were in the area. Luckily we went before the crazy seasonal rush so no trouble getting a table. Call for reservations- they are not on Open Table. Our meal came with blueberry muffins in a basket and sesame seed bread. Yummy! read more

Oct 1, 2023 - Best meal we've had in a while! Came upon Menz Restaurant & Bar during our RV camping weekend. The crab soup was fabulous, bursting with flavor! We decided to just eat dinner at the bar area. Everyone was so nice & friendly. It was like a dinner party! For dinner we had crab stuffed shrimp, chicken franchaise, steamed clam appetizer. All fabulous, cooked perfectly. Baked potato with dinner was fresh, not hours old! Even the the green beans almondine tasty, perfect, not over cooked. Atmosphere was rustic but tastefully done. Loved it. Live music guitar player/singer. Enjoyed it. We will definitely be back!! 4th Generation family owner was there. We give our dining experience A+. First time at this place. Cozy atmosphere with an eclectic "mountain" feel. Has a Cracker Barrel type atmosphere. The waitress Melissa was nice and helpful. She was upbeat. The food was vey good. The crab chowder was hot, hearty and tasted fresh. The oysters were definitely freshly harvested. The entree the crab island surrounded by scallops was excellent. The salad was local and fresh. I ordered the flounder Francese and when all the food came out they gave me chicken francese. I told them that I ordered flounder not chicken. Waitress kept telling me that it wasn't on the menu. I kept saying well I didn't just make it up. So I showed her it on the menu and the manager came out and told me that they ran out of the flounder. I'm only mad because I waited over an hour for our reservations, then I came to this seafood place and wanted seafood and they gave me chicken. Been coming here for years! The last three years we experienced the racist picture taker there . she passed by our table this time as always ! This time I had enough! First off my husband is Italian and I am Puerto Rican both of us born and raised in Jersey . Our kids and grandkids are our world . The manager came to the table to apologize However it wasn't her fault. My husband and I ordered takeout from this restaurant. I do not eat meat, so I was pretty much limited to an eggplant Parm, and he got a chicken Parm. This eggplant Parm was absolutely wonderful! It tasted great, and I felt like there was a lot of eggplant in the dish. The only thing that I wasn't excited about was how small the sides are. But they give you a few pieces of bread, and we even got two blueberry muffins for dessert (the muffins are definitely not homemade, from the store, but it was a cute touch) Our food was also not ready when we got there and they were pretty busy, so my husband asked if he could wait in the car and they said that he could and they will call us when it's ready. We will definitely come here again, but only if I'm craving the one dish. read more

What a cool old time place. They were set up for Halloween which we didn't do the haunted dining but we did get to walk through. The service here is excellent! The inside of this place is really cool and there is definitely a lot of history. It's like dining in a time capsule. I ordered the scampi with shrimp and crab it for sure was a grand slam. After dinner we sat at the bar to watch the Phillies win and the service there was great too. There was live acoustic music which was also great. Parking was easy and the place was generally clean. We will definitely be back. The staff all talked and treated each other like family it was a good vibe. My wife and I felt like friends of the family even tho this was our first time here. Almost forgot not sure who's idea it was to serve those little baby blueberry muffins with our bread. Who does that? Why would you do that? Great dinner for our last night in town! Wendy was our waitress and she was fantastic! Pleasant, attentive, had some witty jokes and was full of energy. Food was great but is definitely on the pricier side. We always love the blueberry muffins served with the bread. Others at the table enjoyed the crab and clam chowders. I enjoyed the broiled shrimp stuffed with crab imperial. Stuffing was delightful. Comes with two sides which was very filling. I've been here enough times that I think I can go ahead and throw a review out there. The food is a 3.5. It's very pricey for what it is. This time I got the fried shrimp. $29 for 6 fried shrimp, a small amount of fries, and a small amount of cole slaw. The shrimp was a little overcooked. To me that isn't a $30 plate. The menu also says one refill on sodas. BUT the Halloween dining experience is a 10/10. So much fun! Definitely worth the experience. The lobby has a really nice selection of candy and merchandise at reasonable prices. The restaurant is an explosion of Halloween decor. You need to get a reservation early for the Halloween dining. It books up fast! One negative on the Halloween dining is the seating area is tight!! We had 4 at a very small booth that we just fit into. There are pretty nice few menu options, and they do try to keep things interesting with different specials and a fun museum as a part of the restaurant explaining its history. Fantastic 1st time visit. 2 adults (mom and dad) and one kid (7). I grew up coming to the Jersey Shore (wildwood crest) . It's been 12 years since our last visit. Menz restaurant I had never heard of until I found it on Facebook, while searching for a family friendly, not SUPER touristy with quality food - preferably seafood. Made reservations (recommended) and were seated quick. Highly recommend Menz for a family outing. I had some fish and my wife the crab cakes. The kids meal on the frisbee was a hit. Not to mention the deserts which we still talk about. They give the kids a credit to get candy from their cool little store too. Bonus: bring quarters, they have claw machines. read more

Menz Restaurant & Bar was a family favorite growing up, and recently I finally made my way back after a 20+ year hiatus. The menu has plenty of options, with a focus on meat and seafood. I'm a personal fan filet minion and mashed potatoes. Additionally, they have one of the best bread baskets around - who knew blueberry muffins were a much needed dinner companion? Menz is also totally family friendly. The restaurant itself has sooo much to look at, and a candy shop! The kids menu has a variety of options and is served either in buckets or on frisbees. We had the BEST dinner as a family! Our son got spaghetti and meatballs on a frisbee, what?! So cool. The bread, blueberry muffins were a fantastic start. The chilled wine, coconut shrimp, and New England clam chowder was seriously the best we have ever had - and we've had PLENTY. The Maryland crab cakes are superb and the flounder was also excellent! Don't even get me started on the desserts - all made in-house. I can't recommend the salted caramel cake enough, but wish we had ordered them all! :) Our server was super attentive, friendly and fun! The ambiance is eccentric, interesting and unique. Everyone around us was just simply having a good time and enjoying great food! Family location - not for vegetarians. The stuffed animal heads are certainly a taxidermists vacation fund! The ambiance is a hunters dream. The food was delicious starting from the asparagus cream soup, fresh calamari and salad. The Buffalo chicken cutlets tasted like they were out of a bag. Well oiled machine. Excellent fresh local fish, blackened swordfish & flounder. Busy busy but attentive service. Our son loved the peach daiquiri. Terrible wines by the glass thankful they had good old Kendall Jackson chardonnay, cheap red wines. I think they could do better on the bread basket. The bread wasn't great blueberry muffins, not my style. The Caesar salad was good, dressing, cold & crisp. Terrible Clams Casino.
