Live music and seafood. You sit outside along the water. The place is enormous. Parking is everywhere. Tables everywhere. No clue how they keep track. Got a smoked fish dip for starters. Never had anything like this before. It's served with ritz crackers and small slices of jalapeño. It was absolutely delicious. Is this something that's at other places? Really never saw it before. For my main course I got the lemon herb salmon salad. Really didn't need the starter. This was plenty filling. Very good. Salmon had some bone in it so be careful. I was surprised by two pieces and one I accidentally swallowed. The avocado in the salad was not ripe at all. I had to pull it out. Couldn't stab my fork into it. Staff is awesome. Super friendly. Went to the Crab House because they have an all you can eat blue crab special. They have indoor and outdoor seating, with views of the surrounding wetlands. We ended up sitting outside because their was a long wait for the indoor seating. I ordered the all you can eat blue crab special, and the waitress explained she would be bringing my food out first, since the process of eating crabs would take longer. They started me off with about 2 dozen medium sized blue crabs. They were all male, seasoned heavily with Old Bay, cooked well, and easy to break down. It also came with an ear of corn and fries. Our waitress kept our drinks filled and checked in on us frequently. This was probably my favorite meal during my trip to Wildwood. read more

We visit the Crab House atleast once everytime we visit the region. We love their backside seating along Jarvis Sound. The views are pretty spectacular and we like watching all the boats come in to dock. Crowd levels can vary during peak season and sunny weather so plan ahead. The restaurant has plenty of seating and parking but it still gets busy in their large gravel lot. Especially when they have live music playing -- which is fun! It's an open aired environment with picnic tables so it's best when the weather cooperates. They do have the option to tent the restaurant in to close it off. Service has been okay over the years as they are more of a seasonal restaurant (I'm guessing). On our recent visit we opted for crab cakes which were good. Our son got the all you can eat blue crab. Most dishes range from $15-25 with the all you can eat based on market at around $40-60. After a few drinks the bill can easily crest $150 here for our party of 3. It's worth a visit more for the atmosphere than anything else! read more

We had 2 seafood samplers priced at $22.50 each! The samplers consisted of 4 small crab fingers, 3 small shrimp, 3 very small oysters and 3 little neck clams that were so small that they weren't worth eating! PATHETIC!!! read more

July 27, 2024 - 8 for dinner We came by boat/dingy docked off the US Coast Guard facility. SEATED IMMEDIATELY and got a sunset water view table!!!!! I have been going to Stone Harbor, Avalon, SIC, Townsend Inlet and of course Cape May and Childwood since the 1960s. (lifeguard, sailing, fishing etc) Loved the old Zaberers in the 1970s. Never knew about this place.!!! WOW, stunning size and massive dining operation!!! And yet, the service, the food and the attitude of EVERY person working there and on the faces of the patrons was 'electric' and happy??? No food pictures as we were eating, conversing, and socializing with friends old and new. All the food was fantastic. Service was EXCEPTIONAL. Side note: We changed our plans and met friends HERE @ The Crab House after STANDING in the sun at Port Side Marina for over an hour on a TWO and a HALF hour projected wait for TWO 4 tops not together for our group of 8 table!!! We decided on dinner here last night (Friday evening week before Memorial Day weekend). None of us had been here before. The restaurant is huge and very well maintained! We were seated at an indoor window table. It was so nice! How did they know we were VIP? Lol Our server, Sam, was great and we will ask for her when we are down here again! We ordered a bunch of food-I enjoyed the seared scallops entree that comes with a side salad, veggie of the day, roll and potato. My boyfriend wound up ordering crab fries (real crab with cheese and sauce in the oven), fried clam strips, hush puppies and clam chowder. On a weekend trip with my daughter. This place was recommended by a colleague of hers who comes to Cape May often. What a great spot for our first lunch. We sat in the casual Bar area looking out on the bay on the lower deck. Wonderful breeze. The raw oysters were soo fresh and the crab cake was delicious, fresh and sweet.Add a glass of wine or a Crush drink and you're relaxed in the best way! Sorry no pics we were hungry! Once seated, we tried the oysters, crab cakes, and fried fish -- all pretty forgettable and lacking in flavor. If you like crabs this is a must visit stop! The place is large but there is normally a wait. There are a few different bars you can to and have a drink while you wait. We had a nice large picnic table for our group of 7. They had live music which is always have a plus. Our waitress said it was her 4th day but you would have never known, she was great. For apps, my favorite is the crab stuffed pretzel. It is so delicious! For dinner I had the crabs that you have to break open, which is messy but also fun. This is a great family spot and a must for us every time we are vacationing in the area. read more

Came with a friend during Wildwood's Restaurant Week in September. We loved their $40 Prix Fixe menu! I ended up doing Firecracker Popcorn Shrimp, Salad, and the Tuna Poke Bowl. My friend got the Fried Clam Strips, Cup of Soup, and the 2 Mile Stuffed Chicken. There was some initial confusion as to what the chicken was stuffed with, because it apparently is different day to day. Also a little confusion as to what the soup of the day was. Not a big deal but thought the server would've known that by the 2nd time we asked about it. That aside, everything was amazing! Since it was a Prix Fixe meal, we were expecting small sampler sizes for every part of the meal. That couldn't have been farther from the truth. The appetizer portions alone probably could've served as entire meals! The firecracker shrimps were delicious, it reminded me of General Tso's Chicken but had shrimp instead. There was so much I had to (happily) take leftovers. The tuna poke bowl was also seasoned incredibly well with good sauce. The coconut rice that came with it gave it a very interesting flavor. However, I think my favorite was the stuffed chicken which had prosciutto inside! Sadly, my friend and I were running late for plans after dinner so we were unable to get the dessert which was part of the meal (that was in no way the restaurant's fault). But the choices were Chocolate Mousse and Bread Pudding. If their restaurant week menu is any indication, I would whole heartedly recommend eating here. Despite being a busy day during peak hours, service was pretty decent. This place also has a pretty picture perfect view of the bay. You should visit during sunset. read more

I think the 3 stars is mostly based on receiving a table that was mostly sunny on a hot, humid day. Just detracted from my meal enjoyment. Perhaps I should have asked to move. Granted, they did seat us right away despite it being quite busy. There were people everywhere! Between the 5 of us we tried quite a bit: -crab balls (mostly cheese) -oysters on half shell - GREAT! -shrimp & scallop ceviche - (very little scallop & chips were so so -blackened mahi mahi tacos - big pineapple chunks -catch of the day (swordfish) - tasty -fried scallop meal - good! -NJ peach burrata - wish peaches were fresh, but otherwise delicious salad -mahi mahi sandwich - so so and came with bag of Cape Cod chips - son was expecting otherwise Glad we checked out this popular spot. With a few ingredient upgrades and an umbrella that can be tilted for better shade, it could be really great. read more

(This is part of my year end sausage extruder series. I was here at some points(s) during the year (June in this case). What I remember is questionable and what may have changed is unquantifiable.) Overall, a fairly regrettable experience here. Cold and frigid June weeknight and most places in Wildwood were crazy packed. We got a tip from another restaurant in town (Jersey Girl) that had a huge wait that if we drove out here, we would be seated right away. More or less that's what happened with one minor exception. That exception would be the weather. All seating was outside and as I mentioned in the beginning, it was cold and raining sideways. Nothing like those June Jersey nights in the 50's or 40's. Orange Crush - Basically $12 watered down OJ. Nothing to it. Crab & Corn Chowder - 100% perfect. Crab Attack Fries - Not a lot of crab but tons of cheese. Cali Chicken Sandwich - Fairly flavorless chicken. Not really blackened. Single Crab Cake - Decent version but the side of Spanish Rice might as well have been Uncle Ben's right out of the microwave pouch. Admittedly sitting outside (no inside options were available) being wet and cold is always going to make you a little grumbly, but at the end of the day while the service was good enough, the food was very, very average aside from the chowder. My family of 8 went last week. We used to love it here. My husband got a crab boil and they smothered it with garlic. The menu said garlic butter not tons of fresh garlic. They put 3 big potatoes in the pot to make it look like a bunch of food but was not. I got the surf and turf and my lobster was a little mushy and my steak was tough. My baked potato was black burnt . You don't serve burnt food, toss it out sorry your loss don't serve to a guest!! I ordered appetizer of scallops with bacon and it was 4 medium scallops for $21!! That's crazy! They served the drinks in disposable plastic cups for the prices they charge you should get glass or hard plastic. We were very disappointed to say the least and don't have to go back. It's a nice tourist attraction and you can get some really great photos at the dock overlooking the water. Great atmosphere with outdoor and indoor seating. At times they have live music bands at no additional charge. It gets pretty loud so if you're looking for a quiet lunch or dinner your might not get that here. As for the food, overall it's just "ok." I've read a few bad reviews on the lobster roll but I wanted to try it for myself and I should have listened to the general consensus. I never had a lobster roll this bad in my life. The meat was tough, chewy, lacked seasoning/flavor, whatever little bit of sauce they used for it was extremely watered down. The meat taste like it was full of water! And for the first time in all the lobster rolls I've ever eaten, this was my first time biting into one and almost cracking my tooth on a piece of lobster shell!! The best dish to write home about is their homemade zucchini bread. I had never had zucchini bread before but I taste similar to banana bread. It was so fluffy, warm and moist and served with whipped butter. I could have made a meal out of it alone. Fried flounder was good and not heavily breaded which was great. Smoked fish dip was VERY smokey, fishy and dry. The chips it was served with were good, but I wasn't a fan of this dish. But if you like smokey and an extra fishy taste you might like it! Blackened mahi mahi was good and not over or under cooked. Well seasoned. The fried cauliflower was ok but ab little to heavy on the breading. She crab bisque didn't taste like it was made from scratch. It taste very basic or commercial, like something you can buy from the grocery store/market. It was a nice family outing with a great view. But definitely not a place I need to revisit. Unless I'm just going for the drinks and live music. read more

While visiting Cape May with my sons, I wanted to find a seafood restaurant overlooking the water. We found The Crab House. We opted for the 3 courses for $25 early dinner special and it was the best choice! The food was prepared fresh so we didn't mind the longer wait time. The service was awesome as well! 9/20/21 Mehhh pretty mediocre experience tonight & I was really looking forward to it. Our server Merc was polite and attentive but I found the food to be kind of disappointing. I ordered the broiled seafood platter at 35$, and for that price it should be perfect. I was not a fan of the crab cake at all. It had a strong old bay taste which I don't care for. The flounder was dry and tasteless. I know it's a mild fish but- no- just no. I liked the scallops the best, and the shrimp. The salad we got was delicious and delivered with a crusty hot roll and butter. When the server came by I had just tasted the scallop and told him it was delicious- and the scallops were! I would go back again maybe some other year and try an appetizer. I'm kicking myself now that I didn't try the poke bowls they had. read more

Normally my family and I are obsessed with this place and have even driven two hours on Mother's Day for the all you can eat blue crab. However, I am extremely disappointed at my last visit. We ordered the snow crab clusters, since there was only all you can eat blue crab claws, which have no meat. The snow crab clusters cost $56 for 3. They were the scrawniest clusters. I expect that kind of quality at a China buffet where I'm paying around $30 for all you can eat snow crab legs. When you are charging people $56, please make sure you put nice meaty portions. It was not worth it at all. Hopefully this was just an off day and not indicative of future performance. read more

Wonderful atmosphere, they had multiple live music performers while we were there (the restaurant is too big for just one- it sprawls across and down the whole marina). Although our table was in the center of the restaurant, we had great views on both sides. Everyone we passed on the way to the table seemed to be having the all you can eat blue claw crabs. Menu had a great selection, it was hard to choose- but went with the steamed crab pot which had multiple different crabs, corn and potatoes and comes with clarified butter. The crab pot was delicious, but crabs can take a while to eat and even through the server was gracious I did feel a little bit rushed towards the end to finish up- hubby stepped in to help me crack. Everybody enjoyed their meals and my margarita was quite good as well. I also like that they don't take reservations, just walk up and wait, old school. The only downsides we had were 1: the service wasn't the best, took hubby flagging someone down to get an initial touch base. If everyone's decided on their entrees and nobody's been to the table to even greet you, it's been too long. 2: the upcharge to use a credit card- at least they had a working ATM on site. Overall would return and even recommend. It's pricey but not wildly overpriced for what it is - nice seafood in a scenic waterfront spot. I loved my food and atmosphere (I bet it's beautiful at sunset) but service was a little lacking. read more

Food there was delicious ~ Crabby Tots were a hit! The salmon was cooked just right w nice fresh vegetables on side, YUM! I didn't have much room left but got the KEY LIME PIE to go.... OMG it was soooooo good!!! One of the best I've ever had! Our server was great, she was friendly & attentive:) Another server (Anthony) came over to our table and gave my little son a little shark and was so sweet. Have been coming here the past few summers but this will likely be our last. The server was friendly but they have too many tables so they hardly checked in to see if we needed anything. Be aware that if you get anything fried it will come sitting on a pool of grease. They also charge 3% to use a credit card. They are a large enough business that this is not needed. read more

The Crab House has been a 3-4 nights a week staple in my family for our vacation for over 12 years. Unfortunately, the food has taken a turn the past two seasons. We went earlier this week, my seafood broil was cold. Felt like it had been sitting out for an hour. We go back for a "redemption meal" because maybe that was an off-night. Ordered the exact same thing. Cold again. We were really nice about it and the server took it back to be warmed up at least. This is just one example of the food issues. In speaking with the server, from what I can gather, the menu is way too large for that quantity of guests coming in and the kitchen is suffering. Maybe dial back the menu, take out a few of the tables randomly shoved in the aisle and see if we can get our amazing Crab House back to its glory. 5-stars go to the servers and kitchen for being so nice considering they're being overworked at full speed. read more
