    Pecan Crusted Grouper
    Michelle G.

This hole in the wall is worth searching out! Prize fix menu ensures a three course meal for $35 - huge value! And worth it at twice the price. The restaurant is small so we chose two "to go" options out of an abundance of COVID caution - fried goat cheese salad with a mild balsamic vinaigrette on the side (for both of us), fish (pecan crusted grouper with a light red pepper sauce and fish of the day - Black Sea bass - with a white white caper vinaigrette) and tiramisu and flourless chocolate cake. Honestly, to go can cause havoc with a crispy fish (because they steam en route) but these both arrived with distinct crunch and fabulous flavor. The sides - mashed potatoes and perfectly cooked veg were remarkable! No photos of dessert BECAUSE WE HOOVERED THEM DOWN! One of our best Cape May meals of 2021!

    EXTRA DRY COBBLER

Man. This place used to be amazing. Used to be. No longer. What a shame. Medium rare lamb chops came out well done. When I asked about them, the server's response was showing me her handwritten ticket and saying, "I don't know. But I wrote medium rare. Don't know what happened in the kitchen." Blueberry cobbler was EXTRA dry. Disgusting. Couldn't finish it. Restaurant week or not. Get your act together. Here for an anniversary and a birthday and for a special occasion. Should have gone somewhere else. Never coming back here again.

Made to order meals, very tasty items on the regular menu and the huge chalkboards on the wall. All female staff provides great service in a professional way. The interior is very comfortable and relaxed. Over 20 yrs young and its a BYOB place.

Hole in the wall place, great food, very reasonable prices! BYOB. Specials are great and portions are just right. Prompt and attentive service. Best to make a reservation. My only critique would be that the mashed potatoes tasted like instant potatoes and not homemade.

This is Blueberry cobbler. The chef needs to change the recipe!

Backstreet Simply Delicious is an outstanding in all respects except one - the cobblers are not cobblers, they are flat muffins and are very disappointing. I ordered the blueberry cobbler. What came out was a blueberry muffin and not a very good one.

Onto the food: oh my God, what can I say? It was spectacular. The Spanish octopus was extraordinary. The tuna appetizer was a beautiful blend of taste and textures. The buratta melted in your mouth. The pork loin was so tender and delicious and the portion so large that even though we were sharing it, we couldn't finish it. The other entrées, the pork chop and the Seabass looked delicious even though I didn't taste them. While the desserts looked amazing, we were too full to eat anymore. We definitely will be back for another delicious dinner soon.

The menu was even better this time around too. We went for the prix fixe meal. We got: seared crab cake, yellow fin tuna poke, grilled octopus appetizer, rigatoni, Berkshire porkchop, strawberry panacotta, and dark chocolate tart. Everything was extraordinary. That grilled octopus was cooked to perfection. It was the perfect amount of charred without making the inside chewy in the slightest. The meat inside was still very tender. The yellow fin poke was an authentic dish with great portions. The entrees did not disappoint either. That rigatoni and the porkchop were both great main courses. The porkchop was easily my favorite dish of the night. Everything was perfect. The service was speedy, the food was delicious and in great portions. I would highly recommend visiting Grana.

I ordered the harvest salad with candied walnuts. I have no idea what candied walnuts are, so I wish the waiter asked if I had any allergies because they can SOMETIMES contain cinnamon in it and I am allergic to cinnamon. When the salad came out I started to eat the salad and noticed my throat starting to feel funny. I didn't mix the salad well so I just ate the arugula with the sauce and the chicken. Half way through I noticed there were walnuts and I took a bite of it and my throat immediately started to swell and I can feel my face and tongue getting itchy. Thank god I have my allergy medications on me, but what if the next person this happens to doesn't... We immediately told the server about my cinnamon allergy and the waiter looked at me like I was joking because I ate half of it and then asked me "So you're done with that?" and I said, "Yes I can't eat it anymore, I'm allergic to it and it's contaminated with everything else. I felt my throat starting to close up, but I am okay because I have my allergy medicine. " He asked if I wanted anything else and I said no just a hot tea to help with inflammation. I appreciate that the server was trying to help us out, but he still came back with the bill and said the owner is still going to charge me because it says candied walnuts on the menu, implying that it's my fault...I really expected this place to have better service, but looking at past reviews I can see how this place has overpriced underrated food and terrible service. They don't care about their customers and certainly just focused on making money. Hopefully after today they include that their candied walnuts have cinnamon in it! Or at the very least ask the customers if they have any allergies beforehand

The carrots it came with seemed boiled and again relatively flavorless. My husband had the sea bass but unless you got some of the very minimal sauce it was plated with, it was fairly bland. I didn't even sense salt and pepper. For the price point, I wouldn't rush back for dinner but might try another meal.

The odyssey to finding it was well worth the effort. We had dinner reservations but on a Monday in May, probably did not need them. We both loved our flounder almondine order, despite it being a Monday night (when one does not typically order fish and expect it to be fresh). This really was! Service was top-notch and super-friendly from Jared, who was deeply apologetic when the oyster appetizer we ordered failed to appear - he comped a beer without prompting (and insisted upon it). Even absent this gesture, his attitude and manner made our evening - the excellence of the entrees was a cherry on top. One note and not the fault of the restaurant at all - a number of families with small children were dining at other tables. This is not an especially well-suited restaurant for families with under-5 kids. Their collective noise and behavior was more akin to, well, a Chuck-E-Cheese or MacDonalds.
