Merced pools is the worst in the valley. I had come out and replace my filter, pump and pool light along with fixing a spot where rebar was making a drain on the pkaster surface. $10,000 later my pool light doesn't work and the stain area is back. I requested several times for them to fix it and nothing has ever been addressed by them. This was the worst experience and quality of work I e ever experienced Zero stars for them!!! I gave this company 1 star. Reason being, when I relocated last September from San Jose to Merced. I purchased a stock tank to make it a pool; at my new home. I went to this company last Oct or Nov. I spoke with Angie the office manager who told me it wouldn't be a problem. It was something they could do & there hourly charge was $85.00. She provided me a business card w/Angie name, the tech name and the fee cost. I sent an email earlier this year. No response. I contacted them last week. And Angie e-mailed me an apologized, stating it was a miss understanding/miss communication. I call Bull Shit & I told her that. Mark Torrence of Merced Pools was the only contractor who worked on in ground vinyl lined pools in the Central Valley after our liner sprung a leak at the start of the Covid pandemic in 2020 & after Pool Kingdom, who did vinyl lined pools in Clovis, found out they incorrectly measured our pool after supply chain issues which took them over 1.5 years to get the wrong liner which they found out after trying to install it. Pool Kingdom said they would come to remeasure & reorder but never did then we found out in January 2023 that they went out of business so I called multiple places but most vinyl liner companies were either in the Bay Area or Southern California & I was fortunate enough to find Mark as he considered the distance, explained the cost as life after the pandemic is different & I told him our home owners insurance was going to cancel us by 9/25/2023 due to the pool not being filled. Mark came to Clovis, started working on our pool right away without us signing the contract until later which is how much he trusts people & wants to help. He informed us via phone & text about who was coming to our house & when, what they were going to be doing, the progress of the liner fabrication which came from New York & when it finally arrived, Mark gave us a timeline of 4 days in which his crew was to finish & they did it in 2 days, coming early & the last gentleman stayed late, about 6:00 pm, to ensure everything was done correctly & in working order. The pool was completed on 9/19/2023. Anyone with a vinyl lined pool would be very fortunate to have Merced Pools work with them & we thank Mark for coming so far to help us out! read more

Mark promptly returned all phone calls and was great working with me in lining my pool and was on schedule as promised. After, Mark helped me get a great working pool vacuum and tinkering with my pool pump and equipment to get optimal use. I ultimately used Merced Pools for my weekly pool service and Kyle did a great job - washing the pool walls, cleaning out the skimmer, testing the water and putting in the appropriate chemicals. Our pump went out in the heat and a service request was processed through our home warranty. We use American Home Shield. Processed the request late Friday received a call Monday afternoon with an appointment Tuesday. The technician was extremely professional introduced himself and the other gentlemen with him. Was a quick appointment and explained all of my options thoroughly. A replacement pump was ordered and the install was scheduled quickly. The original technician came today (a week later) and quickly replaced and made the necessary adjustments to get it running! Excellent customer service!! And we're swimming! read more

I read the reviews here and I was hesitant to call Merced Pools, so i called a couple other companies. One never returned my call, the other was over priced and never came back with answers to my questions. When I called Merced Pools, Mark worked with our schedule. Had follow up answers by 9 am the next morning. Everyone one that came was very nice and hard working, the mess was cleaned up every night. I didn't encounter any hidden fees, everything was laid out in writing. I appreciate the work everyone did and professionalism we received. If we decide to have someone maintain the pool we will have Merced Pools. FYI, Mark never once pushed us for monthly service contract, he understands that we are do it yourself people. read more

Very unhappy.....I called the store asking to purchase a gasket. I was told that they come to my area and would suggest that I have them take a look at it before, to make sure there weren't any other issues. I agreed to have them come and when they did, I was told that I needed a new Valve and that the gasket couldn't be replaced. I called the factory and they told me this wasn't true. They charged me $275 for this valve that literally cost $110. and was there a total of 20 minutes to remove the old and put the new part on. read more

Buyer beware!!... called under warranty to have a repair done after I had done a leak detection. Don't know if they repaired or replaced the valve to prime pool to work. Tech never called me back after he went to do the work, may have called someone else. After 2nd day of calling. I spoke to the owner. He wasn't very informative or helpful in resolving the problem. He tried to sell me a service I had already done. As I tried to work with him as to problem solving, he got upset and hung up. Problem is not solved and I have no idea what was done? Try another company! The cleaning crew are unprofessional. Pool owner needs to be on top of things. During winter time they let my pool walls go brown and they did not tell me. When things broke, such as parts in the vac pool cleaner, they did not tell me, so I was not aware that I needed to buy replacements. I pay them 90 $ per month to take care of the pool and they only add chlorine. The woman in the office is extremely rude and in general all the crew are very rude. They entered into my property when I was not there, without my consent,  to replace a motor when I only asked for an estimate. They claimed later I ordered the motor. They just wanted to charge me for the motor when I already told them I was looking into different options. It is unbelievable.... read more

I have a gunite pool that had a bad case of mustard algae and an old filter in poor condition. I was trying to do a home refi to take care of some things around the home but the loan company wanted my pool cleaned and clear first. Soooo Angie from Merced Pools came to the rescue! Service for one year never on time always late. Pool not sanitized with sufficient chlorine! Pool constantly dirty algae n calcium build up ... Dismissed so many times n cleaned up ourselves n shocked pool weekly assuming they really busy. Called several times no answer n finally got ahold of a person named Angie and was very rude didn't completely listen to our concerns I was really kind n patient not upset n she listened not even 2 min when she said that's fine u we are canceling it yelling n hung up on me!! HORRIBLE ! RUN RUN RUN !! We are elderly on a limited income. Facts: We purchased a Home Warranty (American Home Shield Home Warranty) one of the Sub-Contractors was Merced Pools. Our pool light was out of our in-ground pool. A technician was sent out to install the pool light--(he was nice) Within 2 weeks the light was OUT of the Socket again---I contacted American. The owner of Merced Pools called, followed by coming checking out the pool light. The owner is RUDE and made a Huge deal how he would get wet and he would need to drain the pool a little bit.---It was obvious he just did not want to do the job---yet he had already received payment from us. The owner called American Shield and did not tell the truth on the pool light being installed. WARNING: STAY AWAY---DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY You will be charged but if the problem is not resolved the owner will not make things right. read more

I was warned not to hire Merced Pool for my weekly/monthly pool service but decided to give them a try anyway. It began okay but, as time passed, I began to notice problems. The person servicing my pool, Judy, arrived with an attitude and complained a lot. Most of the time she was on her phone the entire time she was servicing my pool and she ignored me when I tried to ask any questions. She was upset that the gardeners got grass in the pool and that she had to skim it off. I asked the gardeners to be more careful and had an automatic pool cover installed. She told me that my filter needed to be taken apart and cleaned, I asked her to backwash it instead. I have a D. E. filter and you need to add 2 cups of D.E. to the skimmer when you backwash the system. She told me that they don't do that and that she doesn't even carry D.E. in her truck. I was paying $100/month for full service maintenance, which is supposed to include backwashing. I finally convinced her to backwash it but I had to add my own D.E. myself. A couple of months later I agreed to pay the $65 to have the filter cleaned, which is something that only needs to be done once per year, and I was fine with that. Two months later she wanted me to pay to have them clean the filter again, then she informed me that my service day would be changing from Friday to Thursday, the day my gardeners come. I asked my gardeners to come earlier, to accommodate her, which they did and asked her to come around 4pm. She arrived at 3:30 and a friend of mine overheard her complaining about the gardeners still being there and that they were in her way and that she should just leave etc. This is totally inappropriate and unprofessional behavior. She was angry that I asked her to backwash the system (for only the 2nd time in 7 months), told me that she couldn't guarantee what time she would arrive and that she "would get here when she gets here". I pointed out that the leaf catcher had been closed improperly the week before and air was being sucked in. She would not take responsibility and insisted that someone else must have touched it or that it needed a new gasket.....neither of which was true. The following day I received a call from someone in their office asking about the "incident" that occurred the day before. I was unaware that our conversation was considered an incident but I did feel that Judy was trying to cover her ass, for her behavior, in case I called to complain. I was even told that Judy was a supervisor. If this is the type of person that is representing this company, it is no wonder that they have such negative reviews. Let me start by saying I am not a picky person, but my experience with Merced Pools was the worse customer service. My pool cleaning company sold to Merced Pools, so I stuck with them. A few months into the service I noticed the pool kid was not sweeping my pool including my steps. I ignored it the first couple of times as he was busy or it slipped his mind and I took care of it my self. After multiple times I finally called in and expressed my concern. They were very nice over the phone and offered me a free half-month of service. I advised I was not interested in the credit but rather the issue be taken care of. About a month or so later I swapped out my pool sweep and the new one had an inline filter. I quickly realized they were not cleaning it. I over looked it the first few weeks and handled it myself. Finally I got upset because they still were not cleaning as well as discovering they were not cleaning my pump filter. Again I called in and expressed my concern and again they were very friendly issuing a credit and advising they would handle the issue. During that conversation I advised I also saw two small spots of black algae and advised where they were. They said no worry they would take car of it. Two services went by, and I came home after spending five days in the hospital. I came home one day after their service. My filters had not been cleaned, the black algae was out of control and I had mustard algae. I called and asked if a supervisor could call me they advised one would call first thing the next morning. The next morning I had to call them around 10 am after not receiving a call. I asked if a supervisor would come out and take care of the issues. I was advised by someone representing herself as the owner, they could not come out till Monday. I stated that was unacceptable and I needed someone out today. The owner stated, "If you do not like it you can cancel your service". Needless to say I canceled it right then. The worse customer service I have ever had by far. I highly do not recommend doing service with this company. read more
