I can't come up with a name right now, but it starts with an M and you'll know she's an older blonde lady and she looks for reasons to just make you time more miserable. And if you're an addict she will look for every reason she can to make you feel less than everybody else and she just makes so hard on you. I got kicked out twice because of her. The last time was I locked up to the front of the emergency room to say hi to my girlfriend dropping off belongings. She seriously had a security comment escort, and it was horrible for me because I was alread set up for transfer to Barnes and they were gonna be set up for rehab. I moved here form another state and asked my new GP if I could see a Endo in the fall because my endo I was seeing said I needed to be seen yearly and tested for nodules and T3T4 once a year. So, I get a voice mail with a message saying the Doctor doesn't feel they can help me so they're basically refusing to see me yearly to make sure I don't get cancer from the nodules. What a horrible place. Who does this? Far as I can tell by coming to warn people of their lack of compassion and ethics IMHO I can clearly see with the other reviews they're not a good place to go anyways. read more

This hospital seems appealing from the outside but once inside you realize the horrors within. Granted they do possess some great healthcare workers but as a whole it falls well short of expectations. I never realized how many methamphetamine cases were in Jefferson county until I came here for primary care. Several doctors don't listen to you at all, instead tell you what's going on with you without even asking questions or hearing you out. terrible cardiac services. Sent my husband home way to seen. I took him to Barnes with 43 pulse and they had to shock his heart.

Nobody likes going to the emergency room at 1am. But when you leave there at 4:30 am and you add up the fact that everything they did took one hour, is absolutely ridiculous. The fact the cafeteria wasn't open or the vending machine area was sparse and they LITERALLY HAD ZERO COFFEE in the whole hospital ! Very unprofessional I went in there for my ovarian cyst on my left side. They didn't even take a ultrasound to see why I was having sharp pain. All they did was test me for a UTI, which came back negative like I knew it would because it was not that and that's not why I went into the emergency room. Terrible care, Was kept here 22 days with no care plan, because they did not have a spine specialist. During this time I endured dirty conditions of feces left on equipment, Nurses yelling at me, sarcastically cruel Doctors, and lies lies lies.They did nothing to help what was later at another hospital was found to be a spinal cord injury. I was brushed off to a nursing home, which was just as low grade as Mercy, because they couldn't the numbness in my legs. While Dr. Hunt was amazing, he is the ONLY reason I see to ever send anyone to this E.R. Dr. Evans was our MD this evening. He would not look us in the eye while talking to us. Dismissed us almost from the beginning of our experience making mention that he was "getting through the list". NOT compassionate at all. The nurse told us that we were going to be discharged (without answers to my daughter's severe heart pain). FORTY-FIVE minutes later in a not-at-all busy ER, the doctor still did not come in to talk to us. Since my daughter's heart was still bothering her immensely, I went to find out what was going on, to ask questions about what we were supposed to do next. Dr. Evans accused my daughter of not being in pain because she was on her phone. UH. Perhaps to keep her mind off of her pain. When I expressed my frustration in returning to the ER twice in 2 days and being discharged without answers, I started crying. How would we know when her condition is serious enough to return? I can't afford the $300 co-pay every time her heart hurts to be turned away. "Well, you can come as often as you like." And my answer to that is, "Your lack of compassion and time in explaining is EXACTLY why this hospital has a bad reputation in this town. He replied with, "no we don't." Good one, doc. Yep. you do. They killed my grandma. They sent her home after she was having leg pain and they didn't even have a bed for her, so we had to stay in the emergency ward. They sent her home after they told her she was fine. But the night after she couldn't breath so we took her back. They didn't do anything and sent her to a nursing home. A few days after that she was unresponsive so we took her to another hospital. She went septic and then she died. So in conclusion don't go to this hospital they are evil. read more

Wow, where to start. First of all the nursing staff, aids, tech's, and others on the floor I was on were GREAT!!! Wish I could say the same for the ER. When my wife was finally able to find a wheel chair while I sat in the car fighting to stay conscious she couldn't find anyone to help. Once she was able to help me into the wheel chair and got me inside we were seen promptly by the receptionist and the triage nurse. I really don't think the triage nurse could have cared less if she had been dead. All the while the triage nurse was trying to take my information we were all but having to yell over an employee being berated by by another employee over some forms. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!! Find a conference room and work it out in private. The way the person on the receiving end was being treated by the superior, it would have been considered harassment and grounds for dismissal where I work. So I told triage nurse not to send me to the waiting room or i was going to pass out again. Did she listen... NOPE. So about the time my wife with a bad knee pushed me into the waiting room I promptly passed out AGAIN. After my wife and several other people that were in the waiting room were able to track down some help they propped me back up in the wheel chair and rolled me into a treatment room. I had an MRI at the hospital on June 28th. My past experience with MRIs left me rather fearful. A wonderful man met my husband and I and wheeled me back to prepare me for this medical procedure. I can't say enough about him. He did everything he could to relax me and help me through the process. The staff provided me with a warm blanket and headphones so I could listen to music during the MRI. The man who took me back treated me with such kindness and encouragement he made the whole thing so much easier. I wish I would have gotten his name, but I hope someone sees this and lets him know who much he is appreciated. Everyone was kind and the new part of the hospital is beautiful! And, btw, the MRI was open on both ends. Not like the machine I had to endure previously. Thanks, Mercy for treating me so well. read more

Never EVER come here if you are in agonizing pain!!!! EVVVVEEERRRRRRRR!!!!! I have been here three times now for a pain I get in my liver and my pancreas it's HORRIFIC a I am screaming crawling on the floor vomiting this time making myself vomit because no one one help me and the only thing that helped was releasing the pressure by vomiting then the ignorant nurse (so called nurse) comes in and says OKAY, your gonna have to stop making ur self vomit! I said, NO FUCKING WAY LADY IM IN SO MUCH PAIN! I WAS BALLING MY EYES OUT SCREAMING AND MOANING SO I TOLD HER I WILL CONTINUE TO MAKE MYSELF VOMIT SO I FEEL BETTER! Her rude ass remark I will NEVER EVER FORGET was it won't make me move any faster just so you know! So I said ok I'm going to continue to stick my finger in my throat JUST SO YOU KNOW! Why in the hell am I being treated like I'm a drug addict?! I have NEVER EVER EVER IN MY LIFE TOUCHED A DAMN DRUG EVERRRRRRR! I drank but as soon as this issue started I have never drank again to preserve my liver function bc I have in the past been told I have NASH actually by this hospital then one of the most recent physicians in the ER told me no I don't bc I never had a biopsy!!! Long story short they never do anything here I had to have my mother drive me to St.Anthonys hospital where the Dr was kind enough to ask what I wanted done and I told her I want to be checked for Hepatitis so she is so graciously doing that for me and is calling me tomorrow with the results! I can only hope while I'm waiting for my GI appt I don't have another attack and if I do this will be the last hospital I go to I will call a damn ambulance to take me to st.anthonys!! Also, another complaint I had my son in the night before he is 16months old i at the time of all of this have FLU B and my daughter had strep my son started running a fever so I took him in. After being checked in and letting them know of my sons current issue with his ALP being 3227 and possibly having the flu they triage us and sit us in the waiting room which was ok until a woman walks in and says My head hurts my friend is a physician here get him THIS LADY IS NOT IN PAIN SHES PERFECTLY FUCKING FINE can you believe this lady got her way and who ever the physician was let her skip everyone in the waiting room and they tried to cover it up until I confronted them and then was immediately brought back so I can be crawling on your god damn floor in pain needing emergency help can't get any and your physicians can have friends come in w the FLU (just like everyone else at the moment) and they get brought back immediately BULLLLLLL SHIT! Ever heard of patient profiling **** my liver enzymes were ALT 660 when I was sent to saint Anthony's and they re drew my labs after the attack! For people who do not know basically anything over 50 is high so to go in and have a liver enzymes ALT 669 and AST 440 ish (can't remember the exact ast) and ALP from 40-90 upper side of normal) I'm not a Dr but I'm really good at research and I would say it sounds like I have a biliary blockage and THE PATIENT IS NOT LIEING ABOUT HER PAIN*** and I am willing putting my med history on here bc I never want another person to deal with what I had to deal with! read more

Brought my wife down to have a ct scan, the appointment was originally suppose to be at 12:30, when we arrived they said her appointment wasn't until 1:00. When the appointment was made my wife had her phone on speaker and I wrote it down as 12:30 as we both heard the same thing. We are now still waiting for her to get into the ct scan and the time is 2:30. Two hours behind. This isn't the first time we have had long delays at this hospital. read more

They let my husband go septic, they overdosed him, had to give him narcan after I told them to (for my suspicions) twice, between going septic and overdosing, it messed with his heart, they put a pacemaker in him, all this is from him breaking his leg. This is a knock on a DR. in the ER that wrote my information on a napkin and then carelessly admitted me without listening to what I had to say. Their mental health sucks! Maybe it's all of missouri. A friend had her daughter committed. She really needs help but they let her out after 24 hours. No one talked with her no one did anything! She was supposed to be there for 76 hours and nothing! 24 lousy hours and no one will call the family back! this girl is a danger to herself and is in danger! Came to the hospital with chest pain was kept overnight for observation they took me to my room when it came time for me to get my medications I only received a few I was given pepcid instead of my prescribed zantac when ask why the reason given was that the hospital doesn't carry zantac then when asked about breathing treatments specifically why I wasn't given brovana which I am prescribed by my Dr I was told they don't order brovana because it is to expensive yet its not to expensive for me or any other patient being treated by a mercy doctor . I was given deuoneb every six hours instead brovana is a long acting medication duoneb is not I also take budesonide Dr did not order that for me either i threw a fit and my nurse called the dr and got the order for the budesonide needless to say I was very pissed off my experience with this hospital was not good at all and in the future I will go to another hospital this would be a last resort for me if you have breathing issues you probably wouldnt want to come here i have ibs and was not given medication for that either but they found it fit to order me a stool softner . All my Drs are mercy doctors except one I am seriously rethinking my choices. read more

My mom was complaining of chest pains and numbness in her arm today so she was sent to JMH via ambulance because it was the closest hospital. After several other aggrivating events the Dr had the nerve to recommend that we don't call her primary Dr because he knows that her primary would have her transferred. How can anyone with M.D. after their name recommend that a patient doesn't call their primary Dr? This is only the latest story of many. When you live in a semi rural community with limited options, the priority of an urgent care center should include urgency. This is not unusual for this site. It is quite common and unacceptable that someone could spend an hour in the general waiting room and an additional hour in a treatment room before concluding simple treatment and care. If they even cared, I'd suggest some quality improvement initiatives for them. read more

November 2019 our father was transported to festus mercy with a near fatal heart attack. On this day Dr. Rohkuz was on call and was with him and this was an emergency, he was Exceptional!! When he came out to talk to us as a family and explain what was taking place and made the decision to transport him to mercy south by helicopter he expressed to us this is what he had to do, & told us he would be thinking of us all as a family and thinking of my dad, as he would be facing surgery in just a matter of minutes once he was transported to mercy south. The vast decisions he had to make along with his team that worked with him as well was life saving to our father. Our family along with our dad, can not express enough how thankful we are that Dr. Rohkuz and his team was the staff that was there to help our father and us as well.... as this was not sugar coated to us... which we greatly appreciate... we could feel the power of not only medicine working but the prayers with everyone that worked with him. We are a spiritual family and strongly believe that with the technology that was preformed that day with the knowledge of the Dr. and the staff ... prayers were very important as well, We could still feel the presence of mercy festus with us and our father while we were at mercy south getting our dad ready to under go surgery of which the survival rate was slim to none. With this being said ... everything became a blur once we knew the severity of his condition, but the exceptional treatment that was given to our father and the exceptional way of explaining in detail as to what we were facing will never be forgotten! So a huge thank you to Dr. Rohkuz and his staff... We will never forget any of you. read more

The staff was friendly. The wait was ridiculous. It took two hours to do al of the necessary tests. We commented how quick of an emergency trip this will be - that was until we had to wait over another two hours for the doctor to talk to us for two minutes. I heard that the ER was full on a tuesday evening. If they would have adequate DR staff they wouldn't have people waiting over 4 hours and they wouldn't have patience in the hallways. read more

My son was taken there after a seizure. He was on a ventilator for 2 weeks, and was released a month later with a blood clot in his leg. We now have him at Barnes Hospital and the doctor has found out several reasons why he was confused and not responding, things that they should have known there at Jefferson Memorial. Hospital...would not call it that. Took my mother there 11:30 am got into er room at 12:30....saw doctor at 5:30. UNREAL.....doctor asked how she was feeling.....same!! How did the iv work for you....haha never got one yet!! Was ordered 12:390.......got it finally at 6pm....Needed to get chest x-ray....haha already had one 5 hours ago...they asked where it was done....haha, here! Asked to get urine sample...haha did it already....they asked where it was....are you kidding me, they lost it. Doctor said would look at bloodwork and be right back.....1 1/2 hours later.....need another x-ray, for what and why? Never came back again. 8pm still in er.....sleeping here.....still here 9am next day finally had to ask for some food...had nothing in 24 hours....it's noon now tray still in my lap....still in er room.....tried to give me wrong blood pressure meds when i gave a list of them to nurse.....my doctor came in this morning as asked how the breathing treatments were going that were ordered last night.....i have not had them as of 10am....haha! This is my 85 year old mother....shame on you mercy hospital in FESTUS....this is not a hospital at all.....one more thing my mother is blind and so week can't get up to go to bathroom by herself...last night the nurse said....you can go it's only an iv cart you have to pull....keep you posted, it's like the keystone cops in here......if you don't have to come, DON"T Ok it's 8:30 pm finally got room....took 32 hours.....she has gone through a lot....hope she get to felling better now....unreal! My daughter ended up here Friday, September 22nd due to severe stomach pain. She had a doctor's appointment in the same complex and was in so much pain he called an ambulance to take her to the ER. I was notified a couple of hours later that she was there but not why. I called her nurse who told me she would not talk to them or to registration, I replied that that was unlike her as she too had been in the medical field. When I got to the ER she was sitting there with a stint in her arm drinking a white soda. No one came in during that time and she said they hadn't been in for a long time. She was discharged due to lack of finding anything and I had to hold her up as she held onto the wall to get to the car. She lacked memory of everything that had happened. The next morning I had to call 911 and she was taken to St. Anthony's where numerous tests were taken as she was having unusual seizures. She was kept over night and additional tests were taken. During this time she had numerous seizures while I was there. My point is that she "could not" talk to the ER staff at Mercy JM because she was having a seizure and it was not that she "would not". If they had taken more care of her they might have figured that out.
