I've always heard of the legend that is Timmy The Tailor, and have gone to him for years for my dry cleaning and simple tailoring needs...until THIS experience- I discovered a beautiful custom baby-blue linen suit that I had created by a well-renowned designer in Harlem over 20 years ago, in a suit bag in the back of our guest room closet.. I probably fit a size 2XL back then, but in 2001, I had this suit made in a custom SIX-XL!! It was fly, the couple times that I pulled it out! Not wanting to donate something so unique (and expensive), I thought of Timmy! I brought the challenge to him, to resize the entire suit to fit my size XL 2024 style. MANY measurements later, Timmy told me to give him a few weeks.. I went to pick it up today, and it came out PERFECT!! Got me feeling like a modern day Ron O'Neal!! Thank you so much, Timmy! Timmy did a fantastic job on my wedding dress and my fiancé's suit. I was losing weight in the months approaching my wedding and he took in my dress probably five times, only charging me the price he originally quoted, nothing extra despite all the extra work for him. My dress also has a lace bodice and there was no upcharge for that. Prices are very reasonable and worth making the drive from Boston. For my fiancé's suit, Timmy was able to identify where and how to take it in to just look a little more fitted, and he made the pants a touch longer. Suit tailoring was slightly more expensive than other places but very worth it given his skill. read more

I called to check on the item before going to pick it up and was told it wasn't finished and to check back in one week. I went in to pick it up and it had not been repaired. MISSING COAT/OLD REPLACEMENT ITEM GIVEN - I have been going to Timmy the Tailor for a couple of years (since I moved back to the area) with no problems. I dropped off my winter coats for cleaning. One of the coats was a Hugo Boss black long wool/cashmere winter coat. I received the 3 other coats back but received a thin, small, wool vintage coat in place of the Hugo Boss coat. I spoke with Timmy about the issue and I returned the thin coat to him. He said he will find my Hugo Boss coat. He called me about an hour later and said the thin, small, vintage old coat is my coat (it is not my coat). Then he told me to look around because they gave me the Hugo Boss coat (I do not have and did not receive the Hugo Boss coat). OH TIMMY! Where do I begin. This man is the kindest and most generous person you'll meet in Randolph! He has given 100's of masks for FREE to all the Essential Workers to keep them safe! When Corona first hit MA and things were completely shut down Timmy was in his little shop working his little fingers making masks for all of us. I had to go to the ER one day and Timmy wasn't open. I had no masks and sent him a message and asked if he was opened! He came in early morning just to make sure I get a mask to stay safe. He really loves his customers! I also have had things dry cleaned and done perfectly! Always has a smile on his face and really is a people person! One day I received call from Timmy checking in to see how everything was going during Corona..on the other end was Timmy singing "WE ARE THE WORLD". He made my day and he shows what it really is to be a genuine, caring and loving person.. OH and his voice isn't that bad either.. Timmy is a life saver. I had to go to an Indian wedding in Randolph and hadn't thought through my outfit until the night before. I tried it on and the top was way too big. I had my fingers crossed that I'd find someone to take it in a bit before the wedding but wasn't sure that was going to happen. I actually had seen reviews of Timmy before we even flew out but my airbnb host suggested two other places first - I tried these two other places before Timmy and they were either not able to do it (no seamstress on site that day) or they were didn't have the time to also add the sleeves but could take in the sides (eep). So I trusted my gut to not just go with the "take in the sides" lady and went straight to Timmy and I was right. He was amazing. He has dealt a lot with Indian clothes (those other two places were clueless) so he knew exactly how to handle it and how easily the pieces go together (thank god). We got there around 4pm and he was able to let me try it on later that night, make some more adjustments, and let me try once more in the am. He even suggested I bring the bottom skirt so that it can be steamed before the event. He also steamed bae's suit. All for a reasonable price too. We tried to convince him to move to DC because he'd get so much business but I also realized that Saturday people in Randolph knew where to go for their tailoring because he pretty much had a line of folks waiting to give him business. Worst tailor i have ever used!!! The guy is so busy i don't think he even hemmed my sons pants!! Dropped a wedding dress and three suits for alteration literally went back nine times to either pick up but the suits weren't ready or for re alteration of the dress. The guys an idiot and has to much work and no help or incompetent help. I hate to bash the business but i paid over six hundred dollars for tailoring and the suits looked like they came out of a trash bag. He didn't even press or dry clean them and for over a hundred dollars to take up a pant leg three inches you should get better service. I'll never use this place again read more

Timmy is my go-to tailor whenever I have special events. Not only is he professional and friendly, but he's so funny too. He really takes the time to listen to how you want your garment to fit. He has altered many formal dresses for myself, as well as for my friends and family and always does it to perfection. The pictures attached are a dress he altered for me for my wedding day. It fit like a glove! For the amount of customers he has, my dresses are always ready in a reasonable amount of time. Husband and I came here on a whim as we needed tailoring for various pants. We were both impressed with how quickly Timmy identified and addressed the issues in our clothing. For example, I am curvy with most pants fitting loose around the waist, and in the past, I paid a lot of money for a different tailor to take in some jeans at the waist- he took them in at the back center which resulted in my jeans having a weird "bubble" effect. Needless to say, bringing my jeans to Jimmy's as a first time customer, I was worried. I was almost expecting him to try to take them in at the back center. Timmy did not. He immediately took them in at the sides and the jeans looked great with the pins in! We just left and I'm already leaving 5 stars as we both feel confident and in great hands with Timmy. Timmy is the man! And arguably the best tailor in all of south shore. My body type is tough to buy blazers or suits off the shelves. Broad shoulders, big arms and chest, so after all of the costs of buying it and have it altered, it would be all ready too outrageous. I wanted a customized blazer with a slim fit look for work and after a thorough research on yelp, I chose Tim based on the positive reviews. He even has fabric in stock so if you don't have a type of fabric picked out already, just come to the store, pick it out and have him measured you. He's taking care of everything from A to Z. He's very friendly and attentive to your requests and offered great recommendations based on his extensive experience in the business. I already asked him to contact me when he has new fabric coming so I can come back and order another blazer. Highly recommend Tim! He's busy though so I would recommend to give him some lead time if you need something by a certain date, although he's quite quite good with having a quick turnaround. read more

Timmy is the most amazing tailor. I've been going to Timmy since I was 16 (that would make it 15+ years) - from before he opened his own shop "Timmy the Taylor". I am really really small (under 5 feet and skinny). Yeah, yeah when you are done saying mentally that I need to shut my piehole about being too small...my point is I have to get everything tailored. Nothing fits me off the rack. Timmy works magic. There are no traces that the item had been tailored once he is done. The item just drapes on you like it was made for you. Over the years I've taken everything and anything to him from khakis to evening gowns, tank tops to suits. The best thing about Timmy - if he can't work it, he'll tell you if it isn't worth trying to tailor. But I can only think of 2x that he wasn't able to work with it. Timmy will remember if you consistently tell him that you like things a little looser fit, a little tighter fit. Or for example, I like my sleeves a little long. He remembers all that - make sure to tell him. And if by chance, it's not quite right when you pick it up - he'll fix it. Just tell him. The one thing I have not tried with Timmy is original hem on jeans. Basically, Timmy is a genius when it comes to clothing fit. He knows how things should fit and drape, but he'll totally take into account your preferences. read more

Since my new silk dress only had to be shortened and I needed a quick turnaround, I decided to take a chance with Timmy the Tailor based on the one review (and the fact that there were no other reviews for any other tailors in my area). The consultation was quick. I tried on the dress, he chalked it and I was done. After picking up the dress, I examined the hem and noticed there were a few spots that seemed to go astray and then recovered. But, for $12, I was satisfied overall with the job. Thinking my search for a local tailor that offers quality work at reasonable prices was finally over, I brought two other dresses in that had been sitting in my closet. To my dismay, the dresses were hacked. Seriously, any 8th grader taking a sewing class could have done a better job! Dress #1 - I got a great bargain on a gray cotton stretch summer dress at the Gap, so I didn't think twice about paying to get it hemmed for my vertically challenged build. Unfortunately, I am going to end up paying more to get it fixed than it cost me to buy the dress! What went wrong? 1. The original hem had a double over-edge type stitch; it was not folded up, so it had more of an unfinished look. When I got the dress back, he had changed the hem by folding it up and using a straight stitch. That was really annoying, but I was willing to live with it, BUT... 2. With the straight stitch, he didn't even fold in the fabric which is pretty standard since the fabric will begin to fray if you don't. 3. The hem was uneven so that it was slightly longer on one side. 4. The worse part was the fabric was stretched too much during the stitching that it created wrinkles because the stitch bunched up when it was draped. It's so horrible that I have to invest more money to bring it to another tailor to get it fixed. Dress #2 - I've had this double layer black sheer dress for years and have never worn it because it was too long. This dress was not hacked as bad. The quality of work was just not very good. He did not fold in the hem and the stitches were not consistent in length. So, I pretty much just paid someone twenty bucks to screw up two of my dresses so that I still can't wear them. What happened to the days when people actually cared and put effort into the work they do?? So, what do I do now? I'm going to buy my own sewing machine and learn how to do my own alterations. read more
