I've been coming to Toast for years and they never disappoint. Parking isn't the greatest but luckily it's toward the end of Bloomfield Ave so you can usually catch something on the street or on the next side street. Also, they don't take reservations which is a little bit of a bummer but today (Saturday 6/13 at 9:30 am) we were able to get a table for 5 adults and 2 children right away. The place has a cool vibe and an extensive menu. I got an iced vanilla latte, my sister got an iced french toast latte, and others got regular coffee. All selections were wonderful. As far as meals, the kids got the silver dollar pancakes and the french toast with a scrambled egg. They were also provided waters in plastic, lidded cups. No complaints from them. I personally got bananas foster French toast which was to die for. My mom got the two carrot cake pancakes which came with cream cheese icing and she loved them. My husband got the Southwest Breakfast bowl which was also a winner. If anything, he probably would've wanted an additional egg to have a little more liquid. My sister got the morning protein wrap and she liked that too. My brother in law is allergic to eggs and lactose intolerant so he opted for a build your own burger with onions and avocado. Toast is a staple brunch spot. BYOB with a large selection of juices, creative coffees, and so much more! I had the stuffed French toast, it was cooked perfectly, I do wish the cream cheese filling was a little thicker, but great flavor. If you're undecided go with the pancake flight so you can have all the delicious options! Service is friendly, but sometimes the wait staff are handling so many tables they get overwhelmed. The restaurant has two levels of seating, and at first glance it gives off a vintage, almost mountain-side restaurant feel. Since we were with a baby, we chose to sit on the first level. About the booth seating -- maybe it was just me, but getting into the booth felt a bit tight. The table was so close it almost felt like it was touching my chest. Food-wise, they have some really good breakfast options, and I was honestly confused about what to order. In such situations, I usually ask the server or check google for best sellers. I went with the Southwest Breakfast Bowl: it comes with grilled potatoes, corn, avocado, egg, mayo and cheese. It was really good and I ended up craving more, but hey it was brunch, not lunch , hahaha... Wife went with the pancakes, which turned out to be a great choice. It's a nice option if you want to taste different flavors. The pancakes were small, fluffy, and tasted amazing -- no syrup needed at all! I tried their drink: Unicorn tears: its milk-based drink with some syrup. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it. Portion size was Just right. Enough to satisfy your hunger, but not the oversized, heavy portions you get at some chain restaurants. Service was good as well. We had lunch at Toast in Montclair today. What a disappointment. I ordered a Greek salad which I have had there many times before and now the size of this salad has diminished by about half in size. What I was served was a side salad not a lunch salad. My daughter ordered the broccoli and cheddar scramble with a side of French fries. What she received was a small pile of crumbly eggs next to a pile of cold and stale French fries. When I mentioned the food portions and quality to our server he shrugged and said he would send our feedback to the kitchen and that was about it. We left after about 15-20 min leaving half of our food untouched. We will not be going back to this restaurant. What a disappointment that wonderful Uncle Momo's left and this low level establishment remains. read more

Ate here a while back; am catching up on review writing! Overall, I'd say the food was just fine. There was a kind of deconstructed huevos rancheros that was pretty much a mess. One person in our group got a cheeseburger that he enjoyed but it was too high to fit into any human's mouth, so a bit of a pain to eat. Grilled chicken wrap came with a sauce we didn't love; the person who had eggs benedict was happy with his dish. The fries that came with our dishes were fine but didn't stay warm long. We recently had brunch at toast and they did a great job with everything. We had a large party with young kids, but they provided good service and were very patient. I liked the lunch items but the breakfast entrees looked fantastic. We didn't have to wait long to be seated, and our beverages were refilled frequently. 4.5 stars! This was my first time going to Toast! I had full intentions of getting a sweet breakfast but the crab hash caught my eye. I got it with poached eggs and sourdough as my bread choice. It tasted very yummy!! I think it needed a little more spice, I did have to put a lot of the provided hot sauce on it to give it a bit more flavor. The space has a cute and cozy vibe, so we were happily surprised when we walked in. We were sat in a booth, a few tables away from the door on the first floor. Even with that, most people had their jackets or hats or scarves on since the door opened every few minutes so you felt a cold rush of air which was not ideal. Staff was nice and food came after a bit. The coffee took longer than the food, but we were told when our food came that the bar was backed up so the coffee would take a bit. We ordered the Heuvos Rancheros and the Smoked Salmon benny. The Huevos Rancheros tasted pretty good, and the Smoked Salmon benny was alright. The bread in the english muffin was kinda tough. We sat on the second level and we were towards the back. The space was quite tight, but we made it work. I normally had the crab hash, which is my favorite dish, but everything else is really good from the pancakes to the waffles. Service is normally really fast. This is such a cute place and I came here recently with my family when visiting Montclair. We came here for their wonderful selection of vegan options and fun cutesy vibe. The service was friendly and helpful. I opted for their special latte which was a sugar cookie latte. I love festive drinks, so this sounded like perfection. I ordered it with oat milk to make it non dairy. My drink came out after everyone else's at the table and unfortunately was made using real whipped cream on top. I had no idea that it came with this, as it wasn't specified on the drink menu. After telling the waitress that I'm unable to have dairy, she took the drink back and had it remade for me. Despite this error, the drink itself was magical and I loved the sweetness with a hint of spice. It was creamy, luscious and decadent and warming in my throat. For my entree I got the tofu scramble. I had ordered it with air fried sweet potato fries, but the waitress seemed to have misunderstood me and instead replaced the potatoes it came with with the fries. It wasn't the biggest deal, I just ended up with a little less food than I was anticipating. Both the tofu scramble and fries were very flavorful and well seasoned. I came here for brunch. I liked their cappuccino and cob salad, their sausage and peppers omelette was yummy as well. Our food arrived to the table pretty quickly which I loved that fact since we had just done a yoga class and I was feeling hungry. The service was great no complaints whatsoever. I've been coming to Toast for years - it is one of my go-to brunch spots around here. I came last week around 12:30 and there was about a 20-minute wait which flew by. I always prefer the ambiance upstairs too whenever I request a table. The service was a little slow but it was also a holiday weekend so we didn't mind it. The servers were still super kind and friendly. We ordered the yogurt & granola bowl, huevos rancheros, Bella nutella french toast, the new crispy chicken sandwich, and a side of breakfast potatoes. The yogurt in the yogurt & granola bowl was extremely thick - to the point where it tasted like we were eating slabs of cream cheese. It was bearable with the fruit and granola but would definitely not order it again. I love the huevos rancheros here! It's the perfect portion with tons of flavor. The French toast with the Nutella and strawberries is always a great choice as well. As for the new item - a crispy chicken sandwich -, it was pretty good! Raw bread, the "foster" was not even heated to the point wherethe sugar had solidified and made the whole thing GRITTY and ruined the texture and the Bananas were ice cold. My fiance ordered a lavender lemonade and there was no lavender...only lemonade with the vague taste of bathroom hand soap. I can't think of a worse way to start your day than what I've experienced today. (And to top it all off, if you come into a restaurant and can't parent properly to the point you put BABY Shark on for your kid ans play it at FULL VOLUME in a confined space, you gotta reevaluate yourself cuz you ain't the center of the world). This place is legendary for having long waits. My Love and I hit it just right this past Sunday and we were seated immediately. Righteous! Toast has two seating levels. We found the upstairs area to be a little warmer, atmospherically speaking. We were comfortably spaced away from other patrons. Good social distancing. The food comes out lightning-fast here. He enjoyed his Brie and Bacon Omelette and I was happy with my Irish Benedict. The corned beef hash (made in-house) was a little drier than I typically like, but I prefer that over a grease-bomb. The side of potatoes were nice and crispy and plentiful. And Toast makes their own hot sauce! Parking in this area is a general PITA, but patience is virtue.
