I recently purchased a 1999 Mercedes Benz SLK230 that needed a lot of little things fixed, and then some more major items like the hydraulic pump/headliner and air conditioning. After reading the reviews of Ray and team, I knew I would feel comfortable going to these guys and be supporting a local, family owned business. Well, it turns out they have exceeded my expectations and are just really wonderful people. The car runs great now, and Ray is meticulous about getting the really tricky things done, and charging beyond fair rates for his time and expertise. My first experience at this shop was exceptional. Great work, timelines met, very reasonable pricing, and a spotless shop. The owner clearly knows foreign cars -- my 2015 Jaguar was in excellent hands. I recommended this place to everyone. Unfortunately, the repeat visit was the opposite. The owner wasn't there, and we dealt only with employees. The car was kept for weeks, forcing me to rent a vehicle because I was never told to expect such a delay. The jaguar mechanic only worked several days/week. Several routine maintenance items we requested weren't completed (and while we weren't charged, they simply weren't done). When we picked up the car, the door alarm mechanisms no longer worked and new parts had to be ordered. One of the original reasons for the visit was a window mechanisms issue. The car needs to go back. The level of service, communication, and attention to detail was nowhere near what we experienced when working directly with the owner. It was a night‑and‑day difference. Honest shop,they did a thorough diagnostic to see what was wrong and didn't feel like they tried to upsell me anything. Repair was a fair price and quickly done. I dont take very good care of my car honestly and they did a great job educating me on some things and recommended a timeline for things be done down the line. I broke down right around the corner and David and Hasti took my car in minutes before closing and helped to cam my stressful situation. They ordered parts right them just to make sure they'd be there in the morning. They were right, alternator. They got me fixed up next day. Best part was that Hasti arranged for a rental car for me, drive me to the rental car place (after closing), walked me in and didn't leave until she was sure I had a car. She knows her stuff and makes sure her customers are taken care of. David at the front kept great communication with me, and thoroughly went over some recommendations, without trying to pressure me. I had bought a truck for work that had an overwhelming amount of repairs that needed fixing . They're the best hands down! I moved up the hill years ago so I've had local mechanics work on my car in the interest of time and travel. Never again...new AC.. bad.. new tires.. a years worth of bad!! oil change.. bad! Sheared studs, others pounded in through the hubs with a sledge hammer! Someone lost the plug to my oil pan, replaced it with a smaller one and used silicone to keep it in there!! Cost me a new oil pan. None of these shops said a word about it and sent me out the door! Meritage found all the broken bs, repaired and replaced it everything perfectly! Many thanks to Meritage for their honesty, knowledge and integrity! I'll never go anywhere else, it's more than worth the drive! I'd like to commend David for his willingness to take on a difficult situation. We where on our way to Tahoe when my Honda CRV suddenly started to loose power and the check engine light turned on. With two small kids in the car and a brutal 1.5 hours left in our drive we got off at the next exit and found this mechanic shop. After desperately explaining what was happening the Hasti came right out to check out our car. Around 30 min later our car was fixed and good to go! I was driving back to the Kansas City, KS/ MO area after taking care of some business in the San Francisco area. My Chevy pickup's oil pump went out and after pulling off of the road I called Meritage to explain my situation. The man in the office, I think his name was Richard, recommended a good tow service, All American Towing, and they showed up in less than thirty minutes. After getting towed in to Meritage, a lady named Hasti worked with me on getting my repairs arranged along with Richard. I was told it could take about a week. Hasti was nice enough to drive me, during her lunch break, to a couple of different hotels. The first one was booked up so she took me to another one. I felt bad that she was doing this instead of going to lunch. She was a pleasant person to talk to and was good at explaining things to me and answering all my questions. She also called me a few days later to go into more detail about my repairs and on the day I was able to get my vehicle back she came by my hotel to give me a ride back to the shop. I liked the way the shop looked very clean and organized. To me, that is a reflection of the quality of work that they do. There was no oil slopped all over everything as a lot of shops have a tendency to do, no parts left off and no fasteners laying loose under the hood. They must have washed my truck also because it was covered in bugs when I had it towed in and those were no longer on there. They seem very meticulous about the work they do and were eager to make sure things were right before I left. I would highly recommend Meritage for any and all service on your vehicle. read more

I am currently in the market I for a used Diesel truck. After weeks of searching for the right vehicle I thought that I had found the right truck here at Meritage. I took a day off work to drive to Auburn (from Reno, NV) to make an offer on a duramax that that was posted online. When I arrived at the shop there was no one in the sales office. I asked someone in the mechanic shop for help and they contacted the sales person for me. After a short wait I was given the opportunity to test drive this particular vehicle. After the test drive I agreed that the asking price was reasonable and was willing to pay what they were asking. I was curious how many offers they had on this particular vehicle because it was very popular and in demand, the sales person informed me that they had inquiries but no serious offers. After agreeing to pay the their asking price the sales person wrote my contact information on a piece of scratch paper and told me that they would have to contact a notary public in Reno and that they would be required to transfer the vehicle to Reno (which seemed understandable until I did some research), The sales person informed me that he would stay in contact with me when they contested their notary in Reno. After patiently waiting three days I called to check up on the progress of the sale and the sales person informed me that they had forgotten about a previous offer they had received and that they would let me know the outcome of the sale. Another three days go by and I call to check in on the vehicle, I leave a voicemail and write and email. Weeks later this have not received a call, email, or text about the status of this vehicle (and, the posting remains online). After reading many Meritage reviews I thought that I was in good hands but I was misled by the reviews of this shop. The sales department at Meritage is very unprofessional and unreliable. Don't go out of our way to purchase a vehicle from them like I did. read more

My parents needed their brakes fixed when visiting us and had forgotten their credit card at home. Ray told them to Just send the payment to him or drop it off the next time they were in town. Who does that these days? Also didn't gouge them. Way cheaper then the chain stores. We've taken our autos there for various ailments and he's always been very honest. He could have told us our older Ford Expedition needed a way more expensive fix but knowing it was older and we weren't going to keep it for much longer, suggested we do the cheaper yet still effective fix. I've told several friends about Meritage and they vow to never go anywhere else. Meritage specializes in European and high end autos but will take just as much care of your Honda. Use them! I don't usually write reviews, but this auto repair facility is the best I have ever been to. A major front wheel bearing failure on I-80 40 miles east of Auburn left my truck not drivable. After a tow and dropping the car off on a Sunday night, Hasti was the right person to assure me the would take care of the situation and get me back on the road. They worked hard to complete the repairs that Monday and were successful. Haste's confidence is well supported by her competence. Repairs done right and on time at what I consider very reasonable prices. I would not hesitate to bring my car back, even though I live 2.5 hours away. read more

I had car trouble on the way to Tahoe. My VW sounded like a motorbike, with no warning sensors. I took the car to Meritage Motors, they inspected and found that my Catalytic converter was broken. The owner actually called VW to see if it was covered under warranty. It was - upto 80k, my car had 73k miles. He recommended that I take it to a VW dealer and didn't charge me a dime!! An update since my last review: Upon reading my review, Meritage called to discuss it. They offered to refund the cost of my original oil change and have another technician look at my vehicle. I passed on the technician, as I'd already gone elsewhere to have everything checked and had to pay to have the engine cleaned and oil changed properly. I did take my refund and appreciate that they offered. A lot of places wouldn't have even bothered to try and make things right. So I'll give them a couple more stars for that. read more

I purchased my BMW from Meritage back in May and it was such a great experience that I will be bringing my car to meritage for any and all work. A few days after purchasing my car I had some trouble w the windows not rolling up in the back. I called and they told me to bring it in right away. When I dropped it off they told me they would have to order the parts and keep it overnight. I had my son w me and they immediately brought me another car to loan for the night. I wasn't charged at all bc I had just bought the car and they really went out of their way to make sure I got the best customer service possible.
