When the check engine light on my Fiat 500x went on, I tried not to panic. In my head, I thought...great here's another trip to the closest dealer (in Reno) and another $1500. I also thought, it might not be that bad since I had just hit 90,000 miles and it could be a light for routine maintenance. It's all guess work for me, since I'm no mechanic! I had done some research before and got the names of a few local mechanics that work on foreign vehicles. When I attempted to schedule appointments though, most places would not work on Fiats. Meritage was my knight in shining armor. The gal on the phone explained they were booked up for two weeks, but they could set me up with an appointment. I rented a car and decided to wait it out. It was the best decision I could have made. The staff was super friendly, and took the time to send information along with photos describing the issues going on with my car. Rey asked permission to do any work and gave a detailed estimate of each repair, which was at a reasonable price. They made a stressful situation as easy as possible. I brought my Mercedes in to be repaired as I am selling it. I had heard about Meritage thru a friend who spoke highly of Ray, the owner. I wish I had discovered Meritage a long time ago. I was so impressed with the service as well as the price. Other euro shops in Auburn have been such a disappointment with service as well as price.Carissa at the front desk is amazing. She has given me so much advice with selling my car, even calling places when I'm there to find out information for me. Carissa is knowledgeable personable and fun to work with. Ray overhearing my conversation with her offered site unseen to buy my daughters car, knowing the repairs needed. My daughter recently passed away and I couldn't deal with the paperwork and repair. My grief becomes overwhelming when I try to address this issue. He stepped in said I'll buy her car, no problem. I cannot tell you how much this helped me get thru this. I rarely write reviews but I have to recommend Meritage Euro Auto care. My daughter and I were traveling to Tahoe when the engine light went on and it looked bad. We pulled into Meritage and received excellent help. The owner even called ahead for us to alert the Euro Auto ( they have two shops) that we were driving over. They took care of us immediately and conducted a diagnostic. They discovered the problem, let us know that it was safe to drive to Tahoe but to take to the BMW delership to replace the turbo which should still be under warrantry but most people didn't realize that and it costs about 2 grand to replace. They refused to get paid for their diagnostic work and time. We were back on the road in about 20 minutes top! I really appreciate how quickly they helped us, their excellent work and honesty assessment of the problem. I would highly recommend this honest and personable auto repair shop. I wish they worked in San Francisco because I would bring all my work to them! You won't be sorry if you use their services! read more

Called to ask about a funny noise my car was making. Front desk guy told me to come on down. Nice guy, but none of his techs would even come out to listen to my car. They insisted on putting it on the lift for a full diagnostic. The Black Forest mechanic was able to come out with his stethoscope and help me with a diagnosis in 2 minutes. I drive an old Mercedes. Ray, Tyler and the crew at Meritage Euro have been spectacular in their service for my SLK350 Mercedes. I have an extended warranty, and they were able to get many things taken care of under warranty with very little hassle. The local tire shop I use recommends them highly for four wheel alignment service, and I have used them before for that. I am at the shop right now having the new tires I just put on aligned. I am very satisfied with the professionalism and service levels I get from this group. I highly recommend them. read more

I bought my BMW, oh I think about 8 years ago, from the old Meritage Sales. Ray was the mechanic there. So he has been a friend for all these years. That's just the kind of guy he is. Honest, and caring. He has taken my car in when I have had an emergency, and has taken care of it immediately, , and has always been honest whit what my car needs repaired. I would never take it anywhere else. At this point in time I am actually thinking about bringing it down from Washington State, where Im moving to, just to have him service it. I have been taking my Mercedes 350 ML to him for many years, and he is the only one who can fix all the problems, from the simplest to the most complex. He is most accommodating and will always see me - lots of times the same day I call since I make numerous trips to the Bay Area. His staff is knowledgable and highly trained and I would highly recommend taking your car here as opposed to the dealership. I had bought a 2000 VW Beetle less than a year before I moved to Auburn in 2013. In June 2014 I wanted to have my car maintenance checked and had called a couple places that asked if there was a check engine light on, I said no, so I was told they would check under the hood. I had read in the local paper about Meritage Auto and decided to give them a call. Best decision I made regarding my car! The friendly staff, clean office/waiting area, service area not only impressed me, but also when I was shown what needed to be done on my car. And not just from under the hood, but under the car as well. The service tech was very knowledgeable, and again like all the staff, friendly. He explained to me about each repair/replacement that was needed, jotted each down and also gave me some very helpful advise and also explained why certain parts that needed replacing got that way. I have never left an auto repair with such assurance that I was actually getting work done on my car that I knew would be done honestly and with quality. Meritage is so caring, that if they don't have a loaner car available, one of the staff will drive you home or pick you up when your car is ready. I was so happy when I picked up my car...just knowing my car had been serviced with experts, that I totally didn't notice that my car had been washed! I don't know if that is common for auto repair shops to wash the customer's car here in Auburn, but this was a first for me. I couldn't stop talking about what a great place Meritage is....I highly recommend Meritage for repairs and maintenance. I know I will be using them for all my work on my VW bug, even oil changes. I've been taking my vehicles to Ray at Meritage for the last 9 years. They have serviced for me 3 Lexus', and a VW. Every time the service was great and the prices were more than fair for the repair. I never hesitate to drop my vehicles at Meritage. There is always good communication and great advice. The staff is friendly and more than helpful. Its a lovely and comfortable environment where you can relax without interruption if that is your need. Two of my vehicles have well over 200,000 miles and are still running great. I feel compelled to add a review to what is mostly good here. For a while I would have agreed as Meritage worked on all of our cars plus our referrals, we alone own 4 Euros from Porsche to multiple Mercedes. Their biggest problem is breaking parts while working on cars, for a while they owned up but then when working on my daughter's ML they "glued" broken parts back in place after MIS DIAGNOSING a water leak. After spending well over $1K, my daughter took off only to have her floorboard flood again. Ray the owner did eventually get it right but glued all the parts back together. As they continued to fall off, I gave up and bought her a newer model ML from ANOTHER dealer. It's a shame as we spent thousands of dollars with this establishment and the thank you for your business we received was butchering my cars engine covers on everything from my wife's SLK to my E350 and several parts on my daughters ML. NEVER again will my tires roll over their driveway. The second star was only because Tyler, the service writer is a STAND UP guy. read more
