This place is great. The prices can't be beat, the service is friendly and fast, and I've never had a single issue after many visits here. The only negative I could possibly thing of is their simple waiting room, but it's still comfortable with a tv, restroom, and outlets. Called Merlin's about car air conditioner. Was told to bring the car in on a Monday. Was told that it would cost $160 to inspect the car to find out what the problem is. My car sat in the same spot for three days and then I was told that it was a part that could only be ordered through the dealership. Told them that we were coming to get the car and was told that we owed $160 for the inspection and an additional $100 something to find out what the problem was. Thought that was the same as an inspection. Don't go to this place they will beat you one way or the other. read more

I have a hard time believing the negative comments I have read here. I've been getting my oil changed there for the last couple years and have progressed to mechanic work because my confidence in them grew. The owner and his relatively new head mechanic definitely seem bent on good communications with their clients. I always wait so I get to see the interaction. There are times when they expose a major issue and convey that to the customer and explain the options available. I gotta belive that the bad stuff comes from competitors trolling them. read more

Spent over $400 at Merlin for new exhaust system and muffler a while ago. Got a warranty certificate. So now, when the exhaust system started making noise, I went back to Merlin. After a worker checked it out, the manager (Jason) showed me that a joint in the pipe had become disconnected and there was a small hole further up the pipe. The cost would be $150 to repair. I asked if it was covered under the warranty and was told that it was not. Since I was there already, I told them to go ahead with the repair. As I was waiting, I starting writing this review wondering about value of the Merlin warranty. Then the manager came over and told me that it would be an additional $75 to complete the repair (for a total of $225). Something seemed fishy to me. I told then to give me the car back and I would take it somewhere else. read more

Do not waste your time. If I could I would give a negative review. It's been a bit of time since I came in but I never did return. I took my Lexus in for brakes, and come to find out after spending around $600.00 for these brakes, my Lexus dealership told me that my brakes were never touched. Avoid this company at all costs. You will thank me later. read more

I have been going to Merlin for a couple of years now just for an oil change, but when I went there on Friday the new manager Jake told me so many more things that Merlin. Does for automobiles. I will for sure go back when I need breaks or tires or other things they offer at Merlin. Check them out and ask for Jake he is so nice. read more

My radiator fan broke when I was visiting Peoria and I had to go here because it was the closest open autoshop. They didn't inspect the car on the Saturday that I brought it in even though I brought it in right when they opened which meant that they didn't order the replacement part until Monday and couldn't complete the repair until Wednesday. I repeatedly stressed to them that I needed it urgently. The repair was fine but then I had a nightmare of a time trying to get them to fill out the insurance form I needed. I even went back to the shop twice and literally explained how to fill out the online form and gave them printed step by step instructions that my insurance company provided me and they still wouldn't do it. This is because they had ripped me off charging $1,370 for a $150 part. My insurance company valued the job at $400. Eventually I worked it out with my insurance company to pay my $500 deductible and they covered the rest. read more

Had them look a my journey for a leaking tire. They didn't know what was leaking so they took a chance and put a valve stem repair kit in. Didn't fix it. Not a problem it happens brought it back and it sat outside off the shop and DID NOT MOVE for the WHOLE DAY. Then when I went to pick it up the manager tried lying to my face saying that they don't know what is leaking after thoroughly checking it. With their "leak detection spray " (aka soap and water) yet they didn't even air it up to spec to check for a leak nor did the car move from the very position I parked it in. Then he tried telling me maybe the new tech did not know the pressure gauge was 10 psi off. Now he was fishing for excuses. It's one thing to not look at a car. I get it. It happens. Could have forgotten about it. But to lie to a Customers face ? Especially one that is a automotive technician of 20 years 16 of which were Mercedes Benz! Jacob the manager needs a lesson in morality. And his tech(s) need a lesson in basics. Everyone makes mistakes but no one should ever be lied to. read more
