I had high hopes for this place when I walked in, but after my time here I didn't feel very welcomed. Though many of the items in the store are unique and fun, I felt that the owner seemed a little overbearing. We were followed with glaring eyes throughout the entire store. Cute shop. Purchased several things. The clerk was adamant about not accepting Samsung pay despite my assurances that it would work. I asked him to humor me and bam (basically I did not give him a choice), it did work (which really seemed to fluster him). He said the owner doesnt trust it. The owner needs to get with the times. Such technology is actually more secure than my actual card, for both purchaser and seller. We have used Samsung pay for over 4 yr now. Apple pay does not work many places. But if a store takes credit cards by swipe or chip eith a card reader or even a square, then Samsung pay does indeed work. read more

Very rude owner. Had gone in to purchase and Troll bead for a gift and I had little to no help, when I told the lady I wanted a sparkly bead, she picked the most expensive one and I had said it's out of my price range she wanted nothing to do with me after that! Another time I was in the store I had asked if she was doing any of the sales the Troll bead store in Tampa was doing she lashed out and told me they wanted her to buy that store and how she's better then them. Great store with lots of unique gifts and art created by mostly local crafters. My husband lost his credit card on the floor and they went to great lengths to track him down through a purchase made by our shopping companions. A great LOCAL business with very friendly and helpful staff. read more

I went into the store with my family and my sister was yelled at for smelling a soap bottle. My mother bought it to be polite all the while the worker argued about how rude it was of US to open it and smell the soap. She then proceeded to try to not give us the discount it was supposed to have, so my mother had to remind her to let us have it. Worst customer service i have ever experienced. read more

While this store had a few unique items I liked, the two women working in the store were very rude. My two adult daughters and I were not greeted as we entered. Then, we were followed, very closely, as we tried to shop. I mentioned this to one of the women who responded that "it was their policy".  Even with cameras in clear view AND signs alerting customers of the cameras, they still behaved in this offensive manner. I was surprised at their lack of customer service skills. Greeting us would have been a great start. They could have asked if we needed any assistance... Wow! Have they never received customer service training? Ladies, my recommendation is that you seek training in this area.  You lost a huge sale, especially with my daughter. We left the store unhappy and with no plans to return. read more

I enjoy the store, the unique items, and purchasing from local artists from Dunedin, Florida. Some prices are high and some are a fair price. I've bought several Sue Gentry items, jewelry, mermaids, in-stock plaques, and other unique items in the last 8 months. My son loves Wolves so on 3/16/20 I ordered him a special order sign with a Wolf Head and paid $59.99 plus tax in cash. In addition, I purchased a Sue Gentry fan pull for $22 plus cash, which I left with that day. The man and woman said the sign would take 2 weeks. As of 5/8/2020, I haven't heard from them and their phone goes to voicemail with the mailbox full. As a result, I can't leave a message. I understand there may be a wait due to COVID-19 closings, but this is a small specialty store in which the owner could review messages and mail box remain clear for new messages. A courtesy call would be nice to keep me and anyone else with open special orders updated as to status. Another suggestion would be to update their telephone message and give a projected date they'll open again. I'll update the review if I get the custom Wolf sign once they announce they are open again. read more

We first visited Mermaid's Secret Garden last year when visiting the area. Even if you are not a "mermaid" fan but maybe have a love for the coastal area you will love this place. I think the prices are very reasonable and the staff very pleasant. I had purchased 3 metal fish chimes hanging on a rope, very unique and recently needed a gift for someone but I am out of state. So I called them and had them send one to my friend. They were very helpful and I was excited to be able to do this as I know the person will love this item as I do. Just wish this store was closer to me! read more

I recently moved to Dunedin and have made a few purchases here already from my wish list here. Would say no stars but won't let me post without at least one. My mother already posted here but we left this store so upset I felt it necessary to leave a review. The two ladies working on 2/18/17 were horrible. Neither greeted us. They did however greet older couples. So I'm thinking that because we looked younger we were treated this way. The items in the store were decent. Nothing super original, but I probably would have bought something had they stopped following me. I tried to make eye contact with the lady that was following me and ended up being so upset that I turned it around on her and followed her as she faked shopped and faked fixed items placement. She never made eye contact with me. Not even at the check out counter when my mom purchased 50 dollars worth of items. My mom walked back in after her purchase and told them they behaved rudely and the only response she got was that it was their store policy. My sister (who was with us), myself and my mother have all worked retail and we know how to customer service as well as trying to upsale when you suspect shoplifting. There's a smart way to make sure your products don't get stolen and then there's an offensive, completely stupid way and that's the way they went with. Will never return here. read more

So, I love this store. My only complaint is that they have people literally follow you around the store making it very uncomfortable to shop. I understand that they have probably had shoplifters in the past, but that gives no excuse to treat everyone as such. They literally have a man, and sometimes a woman, in casual clothing standing 3 feet away from you when you shop. It was hard to tell if they worked there or not since there was no professional clothing or name tag. Just creepy and rude. At least the woman would pretend to be looking at clothing and peak through the structures to make it a little less weird. Again, I do love this store, so many cute things I can't help but buy at least 1 thing every time I go there. I've lived in Dunedin for years and frequent this location. I hope they see this and hope they make some changes. Maybe an alarm system with special tags or stickers if you're that worried? read more
