Merrell outlet store is one of the stores in Vacaville Premium Outlets. I love to check them out when I'm here. They carry good quality clothing and shoes. The prices are also cheaper than I can find in the retail sports stores. They also have a better selection here compared to the sports stores. Disappointed in Merrell's Quantum Grip - Bravada Edge Paloma hiking shoes. This review is not about a particular store or service, it's about a particular Merrell shoe which I purchased at Sportchek. I am a fit 59 year old woman and purchased these hiking shoes mainly for their comfort, appearance and especially for the quantum grip technology. While wearing these attractive, expensive new hiking shoes, I slipped and fell and hurt my back on a sloping driveway. It had been raining and the surface was wet but rough textured. My 79 year old sister confidently walking ahead of me in her brand of sneakers, had no problems with slipping at all. In fact she helped me up and pushed me back up the driveway because I was slipping and sliding in my Quantum Grip Merrell shoes. The tread looks like it would grip well but it does not. Perhaps it's the material that the sole is made of that doesn't hold on a wet, textured surface. My sister was sure-footed wearing less expensive brand shoes that gripped 100% on the same surface and conditions. Be careful out there and do not assume anything about the ability of the shoes you are wearing. Merrell designers, please review the gripping technology on this range of shoes, test thoroughly on a diverse range of surfaces and conditions, and make necessary changes. There's a problem and it needs to be remedied before more people are seriously hurt. read more

I found a pair of trail shoes, my friend found a pair of sandals. The store was running a Buy One, Get One 50% off special on many of the shoes. Both our chosen shoes were the same price so we both went to the counter together and asked if they were part of the BOGO deal. They were so I told my friend that I would pay for both and have her transfer money to me. The sales clerk heard our conversation and said that he could ring them both up, apply the 50% off the second pair (for 25% off each) and then split the transaction between our two credit cards. He even was able to print out a duplicate receipt so we each had one. When I got home I decided to look up if I saved money on my shoes. With the 25% off I did but the "sale" price (as opposed to the original inflated regular price) is available everywhere, such as Amazon. I've got to remember to check prices while I'm in stores, after all, what are smart phones for if not that. read more

So after a few days of pseudo hiking and making mental notes about finding hiking/camping senseis my friend decided to introduce me to Merrell. Actually she was on the lookout for a specific shoe she found in a travel magazine and I tagged along with absolutely no intention of buying anything. After perusing the general merchandise, a friendly staff member (wish I remembered his name because he was super knowledgeable) asked us what we were looking for. My friend went and described the shoe and tried to find the pic on the internet for him. While she was doing so, I decided to ask him about the shoes since they piqued my interest. After describing in detail the material, the different styles, that they were waterproof, which were the best sellers, I decided to invest in a pair. Usually I'm ok with my sneakers but talking shop with this guy and how my friend said her boots came in handy during a rainy trip to Europe, made me buy a pair. Finally after my friend showed him the picture, he said they would be available by the end of this week. Unfortunately my friend was going home the following day but he still went to look up some stores in SoCal for her where they were close by. He also found the men's version of the boot for her to try so if she decided to buy them through the web, she'd know which fit best. Definitely would come back to this place. read more

Today I received excellent service from two men. One was named Jowan and I am sorry I did not get the name of the other man. I knew what I wanted since I brought a couple of pairs Five Months ago and I wanted some back ups. It is hard for me to find shoes that fit. It took me Two Years to find a Hiking Boot that fit me. The Merrell Shoes I purchased are one of the few closed toed shoes that I do not use an insert. They are comfortable and were quick to break in. They measured my foot with a scanner and the size was different from the Merrell Shoes I have. Weird, but I tried the suggested size but it was not a good fit. So they tried a 1/2 Size Up to account for the water proof materials used in the shoe, but it wasn't a good fit. So I was asked when I had brought my shoes and I told them. They went ahead and brought me a pair with the size I told them I thought I am. He had me try them on and checked the fit and told me I was right. I appreciate the fact the he listened to me, he did not judge my opinion, and he helped until we got the right fit. He said he will have the scanner calibration checked. I did not buy a pair today because I did not like the color of the shoes. They have unique (ok, strange) color combinations. So I told him I will check their website for their offering. Jowan told me he would help me and grabbed an tablet. He showed me the colors of shoes and told me if I ordered them online the shipping was free. I did check later and the website offers free returns. You may receive 10% off of your first order when you join their email list. They expedite orders over $120. I appreciate the great service and could not be any happier with my experience today. Jowan made me feel like a valued customer. I will stop by anytime I am in the area. I am a fan of their product and am now a fan of their customer service. Tip: This is an outlet store. If you do not know, not all stores in the Outlet Mall are really outlets. I needed to purchase 2 pairs of shoes today, one for work and one for hiking. After a very disappointing experience at Skechers where I left without finding any shoes for work, I stopped in at the Merrell Store. I've always loved Merrell hiking shoes and boots for both the quality and comfortable fit. I was immediately greeted upon entering and Jowan introduced himself and offered his assistance. I casually mentioned that I'd been looking for work shoes elsewhere, not expecting to find them at Merrell, but was really hoping to find some cute, lightweight hiking shoes for an upcoming vacation. Jowan immediately cued in on "work shoes" and asked what kind of work I did. When I replied that I was a nurse, he suggested the Jungle Mocs. They were exactly what I needed and hadn't expected to find at Merrell. He also helped me to find a very comfortable and super lightweight pair of cute hiking shoes. If a tree falls in the forest, does it make a sound? If you stand in a store long enough, will someone acknowledge you? Rarely do I ever write one-star reviews -- in fact, this is my first one. Rarely am I ever so against a place but my experience here made me feel more invisible than I ever had. I went with two friends trying to find a gift for someone. We briefly researched hiking shoes and decided that heading directly to a store -- especially one that has such a great rating -- would help us ensure that we are buying the best gift possible. We were all dressed relatively nicely. Since we were out for the day, we didn't wear workout clothes or anything. It's not like we looked liked we were homeless or anything. Walked into the store, no greeting. Spent five minutes in front of the one shoe we were researching, no acknowledgement. Let's be clear about the size of this store. You can see everyone and everything from standing at any point in the store. It's that small. We get the box of shoes and move over to about two meters away from the counter. We try to get the attention of the only girl on the floor... but she's "busy". The girl working spent all her time in front of the computer and then only helped a guy that looked like he spent a lot of time outdoors. (Sorry, I don't lace up my hiking bookt and flannels every time I leave the house.) And by help, I mean she stood in front of that computer and said something about the items being out of stock. When the guy left, she went right back to her computer. Did not look at us, did not speak to us. I'm pretty sure three people standing right in front of you, staring you down, trying to ask you a question means that they need help. Maybe we should have complained to the manager? Oh wait, she did make a two second appearance. She answered another customer's question and just went straight into the back. And then there we were... Three people standing in the front, holding a box of shoes, for twenty minutes without any acknowledgement. Um, no. Not okay. At that point, we left. Verdict: I would rather pay more/full price for the same Merrell product than have to deal with this store and customer service. Take your money to REI or basically any other carrier. Seriously. After surgery and an enlarged foot WITH compression bandages which enlarged the surgical foot even more, I could not find a shoestore or footwear online to fit this foot. I was so discouraged, UNTIL I stepped into Merrell Vacaville, and Chris Palmer immediately took an interest in my frustrated plight. He immediately tried everything in his store without luck, but he didn't stop there. He started making calls at another store - where he knew a shoe that would probably work. With more concern for MY needs, he told the manager of the other store what I needed, and sent me over ASAP. The shoes worked!! I was so impressed with the lengths that Chris Palmer went to help me achieve success with my desperate need to find a shoe after surgery. What an incredible employee Merrell Vacaville has. This was one of the most attenentive stores I've ever been to. There was about a dozen shoppers when I stopped by Tuseday around 2pm. I was greated at the door and asked what I was looking for this afternoon. Shoes, my dog had just dragged me through the mud, I was unable to get home and the mud was already seaping into my shoe . The sales clerk informed me of all the sales they were currently running on footwear, pointed me in the right direction, then checked up on me to insure I was finding my size alright. I was able to find a very versatile pair of black flats, they were a little pricey, but Marrells usually last me about five years. The woman at the counter was preoccupied when I walked up, but still managed to greet me right away while quickly wrapping up what ever she was working on. The cashier was friendly, and informed me of the promotion they were running to win free shoes. Her multitasking was very effective and I was out the door within minutes. read more

TERRIBLE experience with the assistant store manager Atousa. We spoke with the store manager and received instructions to return the merchandise in store. After an hour drive to the store, Atousa, the acting store manager, disregarded the store manager's agreement with us, and refused to process the return. Atousa was rude, loud, and unreasonable. She should not work with customers. My 3-year-old daughter was terrified of how Atousa behaved and left the store in shock. That's a look on a child's face a mother will never forget. I am beyond angry with Atousa and with Merrell. PLEASE avoid this store if you can. read more

I also purchased super pricey inserts, but I think worth every penny it's like walking on clouds. While shopping here, I had an inquiry regarding the duration of a warranty on an existing Merrell item that I had purchased. The manager, a woman with a septum piercing, rudely informed me that it was no longer valid. However, when I called Merrell customer support directly, they informed me that her answer was incorrect and they would honor the warranty. They were also kind enough to apologize for her lack of knowledge and they even mentioned that an employee should have this basic understanding of company guidelines. The female manager (at this location) has off putting demeanor and will misinform you about the products. The company should be ashamed for hiring employees like her to work with their customers and misrepresent their brand. read more

Totally legit in-season and out-of-season shoes appear to be discounted 10% to 50% (most newer items are in the modest 10%-20% discount range). Even a few of the barefoot-style running shoes are in-store. There are also a few racks of men's and women's clothing, including the outerwear collections. While you'll likely score a better discount using a third party shopping website, you'll at least appreciate this store if instant gratification is more your style. read more

YES YES YES! My experience here was great due in a big way to the help we received from Jowan (sp). We greeted us as we walked into the store even though the place was filled with customers. While I found a pair of boots to try on I was amazed at how well he handled the room - talking to customers, explaining sizing and quality, making suggestions, and finding the right size or a better alternative. Merrell shoes/ boots are great and it was a good way to end the day finding incredible service on products I really like - and at good prices. Other stores in this area would do well to imitative Jowan's service and I really hope Merrell's recognizes what an asset they have in this young man. My fiancé and I were looking for some work shoes that I've read some great reviews about. Not once did those two older ladies ask if we needed help or assistance. The entire time we were there not once did they leave from behind the counter. I've had Jungle Mocs rolling around on my wish list for too long, and every time I go to REI looking for them, they're not there. A real surprise, since used to be a huge seller at REI. I don't like buying clothing/shoes online. Have to try them on. Got Keens at REI last Friday and they KILLED my feet, which felt like they were 90 years old. Sore, stiff and painful, and it didn't get better. Five days of excruciating pain. Ow. So today I finally, finally, finally decided to bite the financial bullet and stop suffering. I went to Merrell at the Premium Outlets in Vacaville. Buy one, get the second one at half price! There's a sale there this week! So the awesome salesman brought me numerous pairs of a few choices before I found just the right Jungle Mocs (they fit, and no pain!) in black and another pair in brown. I wore the brown pair home because they were so comfortable I didn't want to take them off. How quickly they worked! My feet aren't sore and they're flexible, not painful and stiff. Just from a pair of shoes! So I'm thinking I should go back soon for a pair of "outdoor slippers", which are like slip ons I can use to take my dog out or slip on when I get out of bed, and maybe to drive in. And some other pair of something else at the same time, since I can get them for half price. I can't afford not to, since tonight's purchase was my first pair of non-painful shoes in too long. The sale ends on Memorial weekend Monday. Got a bunch of shoes to get rid of now. The Jungle Mocs are the gold standard. Thank you, Merrill. I hear you had doctors design these shoes.
