I had an outstanding experience at the Fairfield Work World. I needed five pairs of a particular style of scrub pants, but the Fairfield store only had two in stock. Instead of just telling me they were out, one of the employees went above and beyond by contacting and visiting multiple stores to collect the remaining pairs for me. That kind of customer service is rare these days. He was incredibly friendly, helpful, and made the whole process so easy. We even joked about me leaving him a tip because of all the extra work he put in! I honestly wish there was a way to do that because he absolutely deserved it. Thank you for going the extra mile. Well maintained store. Management very helpful and personable. I needed a new pair of boots and he assisted me with the pair I was eyeing and also brought out another pair that he said was a new color that I ended up really liking! Went to the Vacaville locations and the employees are awesome. They didn't have the size boot I needed, so we drove to Fairfield since they carried it. Got to Fairfield, the bald Mexican guy greeted us but never approached us to see if we needed help. He rung some people, then other people came in and he went up to them to see what they needed. We were ignored the entire time. I saw the boots I wanted, but I refuse to give my money where I'm ignored. We waited for a bit and nada. If we were there first, go up to us and see what we need. I've shopped here in the past. Previously, I've purchased coveralls and have had a pleasant experience. This time around, I came for some logger boots. I didn't know what the hell I was looking for, but the guys working there told me everything I needed to know. Unfortunately, they didn't have my shoe size in stock. On the bright side, I've left there with a little bit more of knowledge. They don't have much of a selection on logger boots, but they have tons of other types of work shoes. We waited in line for 20 mins. There were 3 different cashier changes while we waited in line. The bald little Mexican looking dude is rude as hell! He was helping a lady in front of us. She wanted to return some items and he told her that he needed to call the person, named on the receipt, he hung up the phone and said apparently you didn't pay your phone bill the call can't go through. That was uncalled for and very unprofessional! Used our business card to pay for our items & he said do you have an id with this name on it ? We said it our business card, he insisted on the I'd with a name of our business on it. He's a moron! While we were walking out he yelled at a man for not having his mask all the way on, which the man was putting it on while coming in. He needs to be let go or work on his CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I went to this store several years ago. I bought some work boots at the time. I haven't been back since, even though the boots were OK and lasted a long time. The reason I haven't fone back was the rather hostile attitude of the salesman I dealt with. He was way less than helpful and treated me like I was an idiot. His demeanor was bordering on hostile. Reading these more recent reviews by others who have been there in the interim, it would appear that my experience was not unusual, more like common. What a pity. They had some pretty nice stuff for work in stock and I might have gone back, but I really don't appreciate being mistreated. I don't want to be pandered to, but at least treated with civility! They either have found a durable market niche, or they have a dedicated population of customers whom they don't abuse. It would be interesting to see their customer demographics. My all time Favorite place to go get all my work gear! Great customer service and always willing to help find something your looking for or even make an order for you if they are out of stock. I give them a 2 star rating just because the composite toe shoes I was looking for were in stock in my size . With that said, I bought some timberland pros that began ungluing at the tip of the shoe in under 1 month! I took them in with the receipt on a Sunday and the first thing the young sales kid says is " yeah , this isn't a defect it's cosmetic". Really? Glue coming undone is cosmetic ... I say it's a poor glue job. I argued that point with him, referencing my days in retail where shoes were returned for defective glue jobs commonly... he was adamant that he couldn't return them without his boss present, because he 'didn't want to get in trouble' lol . He asked if I could come back on Monday when his boss would be in. I live in Oakland and stopped there on my way to visit my dad I thought it being a chain store I could spend my money there and feel secure in my purchase. Wish there was a option to put zero. when checking out, we were getting well over 200 dollars in product, asked to cashier if they do military discount. figured any dollar to save. He said "no". my husband, in a joking way, said "what? no love??!" and laughed. the cashier went on to say that "we signed up for the service, and got paid to do, not for the discounts. we shouldnt be allowed any discounts." I was completely taken aback by his comment, i had to walk away from the counter. My husband is a disabled veteran, with 2 purple hearts, and several metals, and to hear that kind of remark, from an american, was a slap in the face. i called corporate, which apologized, and had their store director call me. he also apologized. If this is the type of people they hire, it is a damn disgrace that they even work. We didnt care about the discount, it would've saved a few dollars, it was the way he acted. His complete disregard what the military does for our country. I will never shop at a work world again, and i have several friends that have said they will not either. read more

Today I visited this store which I shopped at in the past. I have never had a problem until today when a friend not mine was looking for a pair of steel toe work boots. There was a guy there who's tag read Assistant Manager. Immediately he came off as arrogant. Their women's shoe section was so small compared to the men's which wasn't my issue but when I asked this Assistant Manager why it was so small, he actually said it was because if you give give women too many choices they have a hard time choosing....WHAT??? Is that something to say out loud to a potential customer who is planning on spending at least $100 on good work boots? I am still so surprised at his response. This is the store where I have bought my shoes for the last few years and now I think I will buy my next pair somewhere else. Too bad that guy is part of management. This is the first store in california .. it's been here FOREVER!! This is a one stop shop for any working man or woman! Their expanding on their woman gear but at least they do have a section or two. They have boots,shirts, button up shirts, pants, shorts, hats, beanies, socks, raingear, belts everything a man or woman needs! They have scrubs, jackets, sweatshirts, shirts, shorts, pants for woman. The staff are always friendly and very knowlegeable about their products! Prices do vary... some are kind of expensive BUT the quality and their merchandize last forever so paying an extra buck or two isn't tOo bad if it last a bit longer! =) The store always looks great! everything seems to be in size order, easy to find and if you cannot find it a sales associate will find it for you quickly! Their brands include dickies, Carhartt, Wrangler, Levis, Wigwam socks, Columbia, wolverine, Timberland Pro boots.... Just a mass of differenet brands and prices. I know the columbia here is WAAAAYYY cheaper than buying columbia at a R.E.I or sports authority! That's a PLUS!! =) I love their beanies for winter too. I will be coming back! Went to Work World to buy some scrubs for work. They have a great selection of brands, colors, & sizes. Mark greeted me as soon as I walked in & pointed me in the right direction. He was very helpful & knowledgeable. I ended up purchasing 2 pairs of Dickies scrubs totaling $71.00. May seem a bit pricey, but I had checked other locations & this seems to be the average. Plus they look & feel of good quality. The store was very organized, neat, & clean. I will definitely be coming back in the future! read more

The store environment is clean and they sell nice work attires and shoes. The only thing questionable is the customer service. I went for a particular pair of shoes that was a good deal and it had the features it needed. I felt the comfort was okay on those and I simply asked a worker if I get a cushion in these shoes should I buy a half size bigger? Worker said yes but disagreed that I shouldn't do that and recommended a pair of Lugz he picked out off a wall to let me try it. I complied respectfully and tried it of course. Yes the Lugz felt fine but I later found out it's too expensive so I backed out on that deal and went with what I initially wanted. But When I said it's too expensive, I think that set him off. He then basically said that I should ignore the price and go high quality for longer use. I get what he's saying and it makes sense but he has no idea where I work at. I work at a place where any kind of shoes, even high quality ones, cannot last long because my job involves chemicals. I didn't get the chance to inform him about my story because he was talking for so long about his opinion, telling me I should buy high quality shoes. I felt he got riled up about it, simply because I said the Lugz is expensive. Anyway, I'm not sure if I got him upset or maybe he was trying to hustle me which I didn't mind but what made me uncomfortable was he talked to me in a loud tone. His loud tone of voice actually made other customers and his co-workers looked at me, like I had caused a scene or something. That felt embarrassing and awkward. Oh and here's another: Whether if it's right or wrong, the seller should always respect a customer's choice of whatever item he/she wants to buy. That worker did not respect my choice and would rather stick to his own opinions. Instead, the worker tried to make me feel wrong for what item I planned to buy. He had no idea it was either I was going to buy the shoes I wanted or he ends up selling nothing. Because of bad customer service, this will probably be my last time going there. read more
