She also came to each appointment with us and jumped in appropriately to ask owners questions that she knew we needed answers to. She also provided us with a basic questionnaire form so that we had a list of some good questions to ask each owner. We assumed Touchmark was simply putting its very best foot forward by having someone like her lead prospective families through the process. What we've learned since my father moved in is that Veronica wasn't the exception--she exemplifies Touchmark's culture. Every staff member we've met has shown such kindness, respect, and genuine interest and care. Touchmark's marketing materials talk about being a friend, an ally, and a giver. In our experience, they absolutely walk the walk. My dad tells people often, "This place employs every kind of person, but they all have one thing in common: they're NICE. And not fake, plastic nice." Knowing my father is surrounded by people who treat him with such warmth and dignity has given us enormous peace of mind. When I toured I witnessed the director ignoring residents and being oblivious to the loud, cold and chaotic atmosphere. The two large common rooms are under furnished and sparse in warmth and decor. The large TV on one wall was turned up so loud that we had to try and talk over it and again, the director Eugene, was oblivious. I watched the director Eugene ignore a resident complaint and turn away from him in a dismissive manner without care or concern or a plan of action. I saw a resident holding onto a wall rail in need of a Walker because it was too painful to walk unassisted and there was no staff available to help her. The environment was chaotic and felt dangerous and neglectful. I ended my tour abruptly and will be filing a formal complaint with the state. It is clear this company operates for profit with no knowledge of how to run a safe and effective Memory Care facility. Horrible. facility!!!

My family and I took a tour and were immediately impressed with the care team's friendliness, knowledge and ability to provide 24-hour skilled (and loving) care. Heritage House is located on a quiet, tree-lined street in a residential neighborhood. It's cozy and clean --full of plants and light, with a loving small dog and cat who like to check in on residents. Sadly my mom passed away a few nights ago (in her bed at Heritage House). This home was for my father, and it was our 4th attempt at finding somewhere that would meet the standards of care we had for him. The home itself is inviting and welcoming with a large backyard where we could sit in the sun with my dad and a very safe neighborhood to go for walks in as well. The food quality was far and above any other home and they made each of the meals themselves. It always felt more like a family than someone taking care of my dad. Jamie, Leo and Amanda were incredible with my dad and I always felt so peaceful knowing he was being well cared for, never being left unattended or neglected. The kindness they all showed not only to my dad in their everyday interactions with him, but also to my mom, sister and I as we went through the painful process of watching him die, was amazing. At the very end of his life, he didn't wake or eat for 7 days, and if there was a moment we weren't by his side, they were right there. Jamie personally stayed with him through the nights singing to him and holding his hand. I can't describe the peace we felt knowing that while we went home to try to rest to regain strength, he was never alone. Jamie, Val and their staff operate with the utmost integrity, kindness and love for everyone who walks through their door-both the patients and the family. Losing my dad was the hardest thing we've ever gone through, and having him get the best care possible made that journey just a bit more bearable. Farmington's highly skilled and compassionate caregivers and staff provided outstanding care for my…read moremom until the end of her life. She came to live at Farmington after a difficult period. She had been in the hospital and then a rehabilitation center after suffering a hip fracture at a retirement community's memory unit in Portland's West Hills. That community looked like a high end hotel and was considered the best in the Portland area. It was expensive but I assumed it meant my mom would be receiving high quality care and that was extremely important to me. I quickly learned that a beautiful facility and high fees do not translate to good care. The staff were pleasant but did not seem connected to the residents and took care of their needs in a perfunctory manner. They were also unskilled when it came to working with memory impaired individuals. When I called to check in, they seemed to have no idea how my mom was doing and my mom was rarely bathed. This concerned me and so I ended up paying extra for personal caregivers several times a week. It was at this facility that my mom was intentionally pushed over by an 18 year-old unskilled caregiver and suffered a extremely painful and debilitating hip fracture. After rehabilitation, my mom arrived at Farmington Square. She was crying and clinging on to me as this was her third transition within a span of 2 months. I was not able to accompany her inside as Farmington was abiding by strict COVID protocols. The staff there went out of their way to help my mom feel at ease and helped her get to know other residents. They also reassured me. Whenever I called to check in on her, they clearly seemed to know and care about her and provided detailed updates. When I spoke with her on the phone, she seemed happy. Once limited visits were allowed, they were very accommodating. In June of 2021, my mom's health declined and she was placed in hospice. Initially, I was going to bring her to my home, but I realized her needs exceeded my capabilities. I felt like I was letting her down but after spending time at Farmington with her, I quickly realized that she had wonderful relationships with the residents and caregivers and it was home to her. My sisters and I stayed with my mom 24/7 during the last weeks of her life and we were able to observe the consistent high quality care that my mom as well as all the other residents received. These outstanding caregivers were all emotionally mature individuals who were naturally compassionate people. They were attuned to my mom's needs and she was receptive to their caregiving because they were well-trained and had developed a trusting relationship with her. The staff and administrators even took care of me and my sisters. They brought in trays with coffee, ice water, and snacks and sat beside us as we struggled to say goodbye to our mom. Through these experiences I have seen the very worst and the very best of care for a loved one. Farmington exemplifies the very best by focusing their efforts on hiring extraordinary caregivers, which meant that my mom was always clean and comfortable and experienced the joy of meaningful relationships and feeling loved at the end of her life.

Ok as a place to live, terrible as a place to work…read more The facility is kept clean and sanitary. The buildings are well lit and modern looking. The food is decent. The residents are bathed often and have clean clothing and hair is combed. The downside for them is that the staff is treated badly and so there is high turnover, so they may be cared for by people who do not know them very well. The pay here is barely above minimum wage. The managers treat their employees like they are in middle school not actual adults. They "reprimand" for things that the employees were never actually taught. People like to be treated respectfully, and if they are not, they will leave. It's a vicious cycle which seems to explain the constant revolving door. It's a shame because most of the residents are nice and deserve to have caring people looking after them. Contacting Radiant Human Resources is a complete waste of time. They only pretend to care about you as a publicity stunt. I can assure you that they do not and are totally dismissive and will make up feeble excuses to justify how badly you are treated and try to convince you that it is perfectly normal and does not qualify as creating a toxic work environment. Fortunately you are not under any contract to stay there and have the freedom to run quickly in the opposite direction.
