I'm especially directing this review towards the hospice team that came into my patents's home to provide hands on care. We were very fortunate to have Alyssa, Trey, and La Sarita help us out. They were excellent communicators and very caring and competent. They exhibited great teamwork. They addressed our questions without making us feel like we were wasting their time. An additional note. After my Dad passed, just 13 days after entering hospice, my Mom did not want to sleep in her bedroom alone. Gracious Care Hospice made arrangements so we could keep my Dad's rented hospital bed so I could sleep next to her and hold her hand as she grieved the loss of her husband of 68 years. That act was outside of the hospice routine, but was a key to helping my Mom pass peacefully, 17 days later. Thank you, Gracious Care Hospice.

They not only helped us with the physical care of my husband's mother but the caregivers were wonderful as emotional support for my husband when they came into the house. They were so easy to work with and did a great job of preparing us for the progression of her disease and what we could expect. The company is small enough that the management, nursing and caretaker team work together, are cohesive and informed of what's going on with my folks, and keep us informed when needed. They are accommodating, very responsive, easy to reach and work with, and deeply care about their clients. It really shows. My folks aren't easy to please, but they really like their caregivers, because Caring Heart does a great job of choosing caregivers who have compatibility with them, and who truly enjoy being caregivers and it's their career - not a side job or temporary contract. Even better, we will have the same caregivers for as long as we need them, which is so reassuring and makes it so much easier on our family and gives us great peace of mind. I've learned in this process that what really matters, is the quality, consistency and genuine caring of the caregivers and the management team, and Caring Heart has that heart. They are dedicated to providing the best care with the same caregivers week to week, who are very reliable. Even better, they are run by nurses, and the Dir of Nursing has been intimately involved in assessing what my step dad needed for care when he came home from the hospital, helped us get prepared for him, and oversees their caregivers. They immediately called us and said that they were increasing their service and RN Theresa and Michelle were there for us. SW - Gwen came by to make sure Mom and the family had the necessary support we needed during this trying time. Nurse Aide Leanna came by to give Mom her very much comforting sponge bath. And of course RN Devon made the necessary trek here even in inclement weather. Their services and care are not the standard run of the mill, 8a to 4p hours. Each one of them made the added effort to insure we didn't get lost and fall between the cracks. They were definitely working as a team. Their agency wasn't only saying it as a sales pitch but were truly doing it. They weren't only talking it, they were walking it. I have worked in State government for 33 years and after retiring, worked for 10 years with two non-profit agencies, so believe me when I say, you don't have to look any further, Gentiva Hospice Care is the real McCoy. I know that God's got their backs because they have Mom and our backs. She received her Last Rites and will be transitioning soon. I was able o get in touch with the sweetest, most comforting & knowledgeable on-call hospice nurse I've ever come across at 10:30pm! Her name, I think, was Sonia. As comforting as our conversation was it was also educational. She reassured me that picking a hospice is like buying a car. If you don't like it you move on to the next until you find one to suit your needs. She empowered me & encouraged me--SO wasn't expecting it to be such an uplifting call. I can tell with this short encounter that my grandfather will be in the hands of some amazing & smart angel nurses & loving care I doubt I could find anywhere else. My grandpa also is not English speaking & she told me they have some nurses available that do speak our language & are familiar with our culture. I wish she could be my personal nurse every day to speak encouraging things to me every day! We haven't even entered with their program & I love it it already. Before searching anywhere else for hospice--coming from an anxious & worried granddaughter-- please give Comfort Hospice a call first. They literally answer your call at ungodly hours like I called & they don't even mind.

They expedited paperwork and got him comfortable immediately. They offered counseling and a volunteer to watch him so that my mom could have some respite.
