(finally) looking up their menu, i saw off of the first page alone in the menu/breakfast section that i knew this would be an automatic visit. when i first walked in, there were tickets being taken at the door, which pretty much gives you an idea how busy they are/can be. i came at the perfect time, there were maybe 2 people in front of me. i got the cherry cake donut, cinnamon crunch donut & the applesauce donut. they went 3/3. all 3 were not too sweet, my favorite out of the 3 was a close one between the cherry cake & applesauce donuts. they have the best cake donuts. the prices are very reasonable, the employees there were super nice & attentive. i see they had a lot of cakes on display, all of them looked good. they serve sandwiches & such outside of that as well, they basically have it all. top 5 bakery in the city. read more

I have been going here since I was a kid and always have been a fan. Buy a cookie or a donut or a cupcake - you know you want to!! Their decorating skills are top notch!! I have purchased many cakes and cupcakes - placing special orders and even grabbing a dozen cupcakes on a whim. They also can print on the edible sugar sheet, so any design is possible! I love their Cuban meat pies - similar to an empanada - flaky, buttery pie dough stuffed with ground beef, bits of onion and olives and spices. Seasonal fruit tartlets are amazing - fresh fruit with a vanilla pudding/tart filling and a buttery cookie tart shell. You really can't go wrong with anything you choose. During Chinese New Year, they made special cookies - a buttery cookie imprinted with a Chinese coin filled with red bean paste. I've never been a fan of red bean paste in any dessert but somehow, Merritt's created the perfect combination!! My granddaughter and daughter ordered a gender reveal cake. It looked so cute on the outside, but when the cake was cut to reveal the gender, there was chocolate cake, but a very thin line of icing that was blue. It was very confusing to my grandson and granddaughter, because they really didn't know what they were having at first. They really had to look. I was under the impression, that the whole cake would've been either blue or pink. My grandson even said he thought the whole inside of the cake would have been blue or pink, too. Putting a thin colored line of icing in between the two tiers doesn't make sense. I guess when you order a gender reveal cake, you need to be very specific on how you want it done. the cake itself was OK, it was moist and tasty, but in my opinion, not up to your standards. read more

While they offer three locations now! We call the midtown location home. Near by and always having friendly staff. I like to imagine them being a little competitive for some reason amongst their locations. I for sure would vote for my midtown. On any given day I could drive in for a sweet treat. While they offer a little for everyone to enjoy, I love the orange cake, the old fashion regular cookies and macaroons lemon and strawberry. I could go on and on but I will spare your cravings since they are closed on Sunday's. This location allows for call ahead and it is always very neat and presentable when I go in. The tables are always cleared and cleaned once a customer has left. If you are looking for a home bakery, look no further just let your nose lead the way. read more

Frustrated! I went online to order from Merritt's Bakery. I used the door dash option for a delivery method. When the driver showed up not only did I unknowingly carry in a box full of allergic anaphylaxis, I had the wrong order. I have serious allergic reactions to nuts. Ok so the driver made a mistake and picked up the wrong boxes.. it happens right? No..I Called the store to find out they didn't have what I'd ordered so the store decided to change my order(without a call)and send me what they had. This order had 3 out of the 11 actual items I'd originally selected including a huge nut and chocolate donut dead center in the box. My initial total was 29.00. The total they had after they made the change to my order was 24.00. The manager told me she'd replace the order but I'd have to wait until the next morning and I'd have to come pick it up. The 29.00 I was charged will not be refunded to my account for 5-7 business days. It's Friday. It could be two weeks before I see money back and I'm praying I don't have to jab self in the leg with a needle or pay an extra fee for an emergency room visit. This was my first time trying Merritt's but $29.00 and one health risk later, I didn't get the chance. This sort of defeat feels like a rip off. I suggest if you're planning to visit this location.. you'll have to go in to make certain you'll receive what you'd ordered. Update: after reading management response I'll reply here, Yes, I ordered through the Merritt bakery website and chose a delivery option(there are two options door dash and grub hub.) Yes, I was told by the manager " I can remake your order tomorrow but you'll have to come pick it up." When I'd called door dash the first time, I couldn't see an invoice for the charge nor an order because I had completed it through your website. The second time I called them they explained the money would take 5-7 business days to refund. In regard to the shop or driver calling me. Per the words of Debbie in your office " the manager said she tried to reach out to you to let you know but there was no answer." This is untrue. Debbie was able to contact me, leave a message and I called right back. Debbie also stated the owners were "out of pocket" and she couldn't reach them. So I'm not quite sure how you able to respond so quickly to leave a follow Yelp comment as you have yet to call me to rectify the situation. read more

I called 2 weeks before a birthday party to see if they could do a gluten-free cake. I was told they could. I called back a week later to order the cake. I spoke to 2 different ladies on the phone who took my order on 15th Street. They said that they could make a small gluten-free cake but that their facility wasn't gluten-free. No problem. We picked the cake up the day of the party and it was HUGE so then my next question was is this gluten-free. This is when I was told by "management" and the person on the phone that they don't make gluten-fee cakes. So disappointing. Shocking I spoke to 3 people who said they did and 2 that didn't. We returned the $50+ dollar cake... Good thing Trader Joes saved the day with GF cupcakes. One star for bad customer service. If you're not gluten free, I'm sure their bakery is fantastic. read more

Merritt's comes highly recommended by a local Tulsan. I arrived in the late afternoon and was expecting a lot of the goodies to be out or not fresh. That was not the case. We pretty much picked up both sweet and savory options. My favorite was the sweet buns and the white cake slice that came with our lunch salad. The employee was very patient with us and provided great recommendations on what to get. There was plenty of parking in the front and staff members were all smiles. I am glad to see a local business continuing to thrive. I will certainly be back the next time I'm in Tulsa. You guys need to open a location in Oklahoma City! read more

It was hard not to be immediately impressed by easy peasy parking led by one of the largest displays of treats in Tulsa I've seen + short wait time with lots of friendly staff! Sweets range from doughnuts to cookies to cake to most everything in between. They do have some savory menu items but my expertise here lies in my sweet tooth. Every experience I've had here has been ace, but today took the cake... I mean doughnut. My little guy turns two tomorrow, and he's really not into any sweet except DOUGHNUTS. (Insert all of the motherly heart eye emojis here.) I got 3 dozen doughnut holes for his daycare class tomorrow, 1 dozen assorted other full size to put together a doughnut cake, and an apple fritter for the road ;) All for under $22! Holla! My boss orders his staff cookies, cakes and breakfast from Merritt's on 15th often. Today he order 3 sausage sliders, 3 sausage rolls, and a birthday cake. The food was delivered by Grubhub. The food was delivered on time. All the sausage rolls was almost frozen, one of the 3 sausage sliders had hair in it, and the 2nd sausage slider was not cooked all the way. My boss emailed the owner to give a head up that he has lost customers due to finding hair in their food and asking that he encourage his staff to wear hair nets and gloves to avoid any more food contamination. The owner emailed a weak apology and discussed his woes of having to work the counter on Riverside due to Covid 19. Unfortunately, C. I fail to see how so many people love Merritt's. As part of a bakery crawl not too long ago, I had the pleasure(?) of having the following. (No, I did not fall into a sugar coma OR gain 50 pounds.) We split EVERYTHING and rated it all from 1 to 5: 1 being ucky, 5 being scrumptious. The brownie (no nuts) had good texture, but tasted too sweet, not chocolaty enough, and slightly artificial. 2 out of 5. The chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting was dry, again not chocolaty enough, and the frosting tasted of shortening. 2 of 5. The chocolate chip cookie was too plain and lacking in flavor; it left a film in the mouth. 0 of 5. The snickerdoodle had strange texture, the spice tasted a bit odd, and again left a film in the mouth. 0 of 5. The peanut butter cookie was way too sweet, and the flavor didn't taste like GOOD peanut butter. 0 of 5. The plain sugar cookie was too hard and coated with way too much raw sugar. The aftertaste was okay, but Pillsbury is better. 0 of 5. The turtle cookie was chewy, a plus, but I couldn't taste any caramel at all, nor were they very chocolaty. 2.5 of 5. The crinkles were chewy and not dry, but they again were not very chocolaty. Also, they had nuts in them-- not necessarily a bad thing, but I was not expecting them. 3 of 5. Overall, I will not be visiting Merritt's again. Every time I go, I get my hopes up because it all looks so good, and then I taste the food and am disappointed. read more

It looks like the owner reads these so I'm hopeful this will be useful. The last two times I have ordered a cake from Merritt's the customer service was lacking. First, I had to ask that they let me see the cake before I paid. I was glad I did because they had not written anything on the cake as per my instructions. Secondly, when asked to correct, it took FOREVER. Third, the last time as I was waiting for them, a young man came in the door. There was only myself and one other lady there speaking with another employee about an order. 3 of the employees walked from the back to where the registers are and not ONE of them asked the young man if he had been helped. It was very uncomfortable. If that had been myself, I would have left. The gentleman finally was helped from the employee who was helping the other lady. Too bad. This bakery has been around for some time. I would hate for them to continue to lose service based on this type of behavior. read more

It's hit or miss with their cash registers actually working to take credit/debit cards so make sure you have some $$ on hand just in case. The ladies behind the counter are friendly enough but they seem a bit robotic. They ask me how I'm doing today and don't wait for a response - just move on to the next dilemma they have going on behind the counter. The prices? Good actually. The coffee? Not so good, reallly. Absolutely HATE powdered creamer and took me a minute to actually find the little tiny creamer cups that have real cream in them (or so I'd like to think). The coffee is bland and weak but, hey, a lot of people really like it that way. Not a very comfortable place to sit and eat. No "ahhhhhhh" factor at all here. The decor is tired. read more

And when you go to this location in particular, you will see sweet, rich old oil ladies sitting around eating pasties and sipping coffee. I go here all the time for breakfast, lunch, or sweets. It's where a Sweet Tooth like myself goes to drool. When this location is busy, it's imperative that you take a number as soon as you walk in. Things can get a little crazy, with several people taking customers orders. Just be patient, and your taste buds will be rewarded. For breakfast, I love their bagels or sausage rolls. You wouldn't think of Merritt's as a lunch place, but they have great soups and sandwiches, and it's all incredibly reasonably priced. And need I go into the baked goods? This IS the place to order a cake for any season or occasion ... or cake balls, cupcakes, pastries, cookies ... I could go on and on. The staff is always extremely friendly and helpful. If I could just quit my job and work at Merritt's instead, I totally would. And then I would probably gain 50 pounds. But the world would be a happier place. read more

Everything was delicious and the only way to improve would be to upgrade their drink selection (without impeding on the quality of their baked goods). Their drink selection consists of twinings, six coffee buns, and a fountain machine with the basics. Coffee is medicore and I suggest going to a different place for coffee. Walking into Merritt's is like a fat kid's dream....or maybe just mine The smells are sweet, sugary, and sinful and an abundant amount of staff are just waiting to make your every decadent wish come true. Stopped off here with a local and got a m&m cookie, sticky bun, and donut holes. I would have gotten more, but then how would I have room for all the other foodie highlights of Tulsa ?! The cookie was chewy, not too sweet and just the perfect amount of chocolate treats. Unfortunately, the donut holes were the least impressive. They tasted only of dough and the glaze was either not thick enough or was put on before they had cooled and therefore didn't adhere at all. My friend ate most of her sticky bun but I had the pleasure of enjoying a bite and let me just say - I'll be on the hunt to taste another as gooey, fresh, and mouthwatering as this one. ---I think we fought over the last glazed pecans on the bottom of the bag. What a neat little bakery! They had a huge selection of seasonal delicacies (St. Patrick's Day) which were fun to choose between. They have everything ranging from cookies of every shape and color to cakes and donuts and other pastries. Much fun and calorie consumption could be had here if you're not careful! I had an iced sugar cookie (looked like a leprechaun!), thumbprint cookie, and a few Mexican wedding cookies. Without rehashing the negative, I am very happy to report that the ownership of Merritt's has proved to be quite responsive to my concerns and has vowed to make changes that will further its position as a bakery interested in serving the very best to all Tulsans. Merritt's is by far my favorite bakery in Tulsa. Everything, and I mean everything, is wonderful and made perfectly. My go to at Merritt's are their breakfast sandwiches. What used to be a childhood tradition with my mom has continued into adulthood, mostly due to the fact that Merritt's makes the cheesiest, warmest breakfast croissants in Tulsa. Pretty decent pastries and a huge variety to choose from. Merritt's definitely has a few great hits to offer, but also has a couple of stinkers on the menu too. The creme brulee had a good texture and flavor but for $3.50 I expect something bigger than a 2x3 inch tin tray. I would also pass on the peanut butter cookies. It was chewy, but lacked the real peanut taste. The napoleons were probably my favorite. Good in size and quality. The richness of the cream compliments well with the buttery and flaky crust, it's a must try. All in all, a good place if you are in the neighborhood, but not sure if it's worth telling your friends about. read more
