Came here for dinner with my family the other night. Definitely lives up to the Tex Mex status. Wait time wasn't bad, waited less than 5 min for a table. Service was so so. The waiter checked on us occasionally but there was not good communication between the servers. Another one gave us our check and the original came over asking us to pay... The food was so-so. Chips and salsa were standard, nothing to write home about. I had veggie fajitas and wasn't overly thrilled with the veggies. Have never had a Mexican veggie fajita with broccoli and squash in it. Was very bland and the tortillas served with it weren't great. The toppings served on the side were also mediocre. The cheese looked like they bought it from the store. Interesting wall paintings of pigs in famous depictions, amusing. They brought us mild salsa and chips. We asked for hot sauce, we were given the chili de Arbol sauce, it's hotter, just not a lot of flavor is the thing. The mild salsa is so-so. The corn chips are light and crispy and good. We also ordered the chipotle salsa, it was warm and tasted okay, not as Smokey as were hoping. Had the texture and tartness of tomatillo. Each salsa is $2 each. The side of refried beans were good, made in house. Each side is $3. We ordered 4 kickin chicken and two chipotle battered mahi mahi street tacos and a large guacamole with jalapeños and two sides of refried beans with no cheese. Added two salsas to the order, the chili Arbol and chipotle salsa is $56.18. The guacamole is nice and fresh, better with the fresh jalapeños. We both liked the chipotle battered mahi mahi street tacos better than the kickin chicken, which was just chicken with poblano peppers. It didn't have as much kick as we were thinking. The chipotle battered mahi mahi was crunchy and crispy. The kickin chicken is rather skimpy as far as the chicken meat, barely fills half the tortilla and the other portion is mostly poblano peppers. read more

Great place! We had the chicken and carne fajitas and gobbled them down! The staff is attentive but not intrusive.

Service was fantastic. The staff was so friendly. The vibe is immaculate. The spicy huckleberry margaritas were delicious. My friend ordered the steak tacos and I ordered the birria tacos. We went for lunch during a busy time, but they were able to seat the four of us immediately. They gave us complementary chips/salsa which were both very good (salsa was more like pico...chunky and not hot, while the chips were thin, hot and oily). We fell into the trap of eating too much (we asked for another bowl) before the main courses came. I really liked their nachos. It had both shredded cheese that had been put under the broiler AND nacho cheese sauce, along with a 'healthy' dallop of guacamole and sour cream (again on those same addictive chips). The fajitas were a good portion and they gave us plenty of condiments (lettuce, salsa, cheese) in large quantities to dress up the fajitas. The chicken was tender, and the beef were decent cuts (not much fat, sliced thin enough). And they did a nice job of julienning the vegetables in a very flavorful cooking sauce. There was plenty of everything here. The seafood tostados were a bit of a disappointment. Next time, we should probably order a taco salad and ask for the meat to be fish. Service was friendly, albeit somewhat slow which is seemingly the thing nowadays. Once our order was placed, we did get the food pretty quickly. Chips were ok, salsa was very good. Everyone got street tacos of differing varieties. They came with rice, beans, fresh lime wedges, and a scoop of guacamole. The tacos were decent. The rice and beans were average. Perhaps if we'd gone in with no pre-existing expectations or if we'd gotten something different or had any of the margaritas we would have thought more of the experience. Unsure if it's racially motivated or just plain bad luck for us. Sat next to the restrooms with the loud slamming door. Really enjoyed my meal here. We started off with chips and salsa and queso. My friend thought the queso was velvetta or something but I didn't care, I think I had an entire bowl of salsa, half the bowl of queso, and extra side of queso that they accidentally gave me with my meal, and 2-3 baskets of chips. I am a fatty fat mcfatterson. Lunch was the veggie burrito bowl with chicken added and their red ranchero sauce or something similar. So very good. Great portion and lots of taste but I don't know if I would have said that if I hadn't poured the red sauce all over it and maybe mixed in a spoonful or 10 of queso. Again. Fat. Finally, I had their spicy huckleberry margarita which was fantastic. Only reason to go 4 stars was that the bowl needed the sauce and queso to be spectacular. Pretty decent food. Sat at the bar. Bartender spoke more to her friends than gave customers attention. Gave us the wrong type of beer in our pitcher, yet we ignored it. Did not pour any of it, so the first bit spilled and had to wait a while for her to notice we needed a clean up (which I had to ask for). All the guys that worked there were terrific. Okay, I was gonna give this place 5 stars but then I realized that 5 stars should mean absolutely exceptional, best ever. So I am changing it to 4 stars. But it's a high 4 stars. First off, the piglet theme- so cute. Second off, multiple vegan/gf options with minimal alterations. I got the veggie burrito bowl without cheese, and it was so good. Very high quality veggies, good quantity, and they weren't stingy on the avocado which is rare. Server Bri U was so great. Food came out in reasonable time. Salsa was really nice. Would def come here over Kika. Really really reasonably priced for being in JAC- my entree was $14. read more

Got in there 10 minutes before close and I love that they allowed us to sit down and be served without being rushed. Ordered the chicken tortilla soup which was a bit on the thick side with kind of a mushy texture. Not a fan. We had a free basket of chips and salsa but the chips didn't have a lot of flavor. Also ordered the fajitas but the chicken was overcooked and chewy. All of the vegetables are great and it was served with beans lettuce cheese and Pico. Advertised as "Mountain Mexican food" since we are in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Hesitant since we are dyed in the wool Texans and have access to the best TexMex in the world. It's right on the town square so we walked from the hotel and were seated right away. Nicely decorated in paintings with color and pigs represented well. Large bar and multiple seating areas throughout. The menu is a little non traditional since it was only one page front and back, but all the favorites were represented. I chose the two street taco plate giving you choice of shredded beef, pork, ground beef, fish, and shrimp. I chose the shredded beef birria taco and a carne asada taco. The plate comes with some very good refried beans and some decent rice. The birria was fried with melted cheese all around the edge of the tortilla, Lucious shredded beef. Plenty of quesadilla cheese, cilantro, tiny minced two lime quarters in the side. The birria sauce was a little oily but flavor was good. The taco was superb as the melted cheese on the edge of the tortilla acted as a flavor enhancer. A really great touch. Carne asada was pretty routine but good. The star besides the taco was the salsa which was very good. One caution though, there is little heat in anything but they do have several sauces you can use. Good choice for lunch or dinner. read more

After a day of hiking in Grand Teton National Park, we were in the mood for Tex-Mex and found ourselves at The Merry Piglets. The menu offers classic American Mexican dishes that are really well done, with the carne asada being particularly tasty. Prices are reasonable too. We were seated in the back of the dining room, which was a bit warm, but the food was fantastic regardless. We'll definitely return next time we're in Jackson. read more

We asked server and got "out soon". This continued and eventually we learned from our server that the kitchen had "made a mistake". Delightful spot in Jackson. Food is quite good with the restaurant's own little spin on traditional dishes found in Mexican restaurants in the US. The ambience is so cute and the service is always good. We always eat at this restaurant when we are in Jackson because it's so good. On our most recent visit, they made a mistake on my order, and even though they offered to rectify the situation (which I declined) and they checked back several times to make sure I was happy, they still credited me most of my meal. I told them I didn't expect that at all but they insisted. The server was great and the manager (young man) was so friendly and helpful. We came in based on the reviews. I'm so glad we did. We came in early and were promptly seated. But I could see how it could be a very busy place. This was easily our best meal of our week of eating out most nights. You can scan a code and pull up the menu on your smart phone. Our server brought us water and chips and salsa as soon as she came over. The chips and salsa were really good and the bowl of salsa she brought us was huge. Our server was super friendly and checked on us often. Five star service for sure. A manager also came by and made sure that our meal was great. I ordered a strawberry margarita and my husband and daughter ordered regular ones on the rocks. Mine was so very good. Sweet and not overly strong. There were four of us. Two of us ordered the rice bowl with steak and my husband and son ordered the carne asada burrito. The rice bowl looked great and tasted even better. The steak was plentiful and the flavor of the steak was really good. We couldn't eat it all. My guys thoroughly enjoyed their burritos also.
