We had waited way too late to get a reservation anywhere and this restaurant happily took us in. The locals were in full effect, with kids running all over the place, enjoying the cool summer night. We also ate outside- partaking of a few of the staff's recommended favorites. Our favorite was the tamale, our old stand-by. We just had lunch here. Fortunately it was a nice day so we could eat outside at one of their many shaded tables. It smelled funky inside. Chips weren't anything special, but they came with salsa and refried beans. Several employees helped us. All were friendly and fast. They let me order three different enchiladas instead of three of the same kind as listed on the menu. My favorite was the shredded chicken with suiza sauce. Hubby loved their shredded beef with mole' sauce. I was too full to eat more than one bite of the third enchilada which was supposed to be cheese but was actually carne asada. Tough meat and not much sauce. Their rice has corn, peas and carrots. All of the food could have been heated longer. My husband did not like his steak but the shrimp was okay. Their corn tortillas were delicious but small. We didn't have any leftovers which is unusual. Portions aren't huge. They gave a mechanical horse for kids to ride for $1 and there were two bounce houses in the back yard. I was surprised it wasn't busier on a Saturday of memorial weekend. Beautiful views! read more

Came in on a Tuesday night. The place was busy but the tables were spread apart. Our server was very friendly and helpful. It was Taco Tuesday so all tacos were $1. What a bargain. You get your tacos on a corn tortilla and then go over to the taco topping bar and add whatever you would like to it. There were so many toppings to choose from. One of them was guacamole and it was really good. When you first are seated you get a bowl of chips and a warm bean dip, as well as warm green sauce. The green sauce has a small amount of spice to it. My son and husband ordered burritos. My son got the Idaho Burrito and he said it was good. My husband ordered one that had french fries on it. I think he would forego the fries the next time. We also ordered take out for our daughter. She got the chicken enchiladas. The portion size was large. It was covered with green sauce. She loved the flavor but it was a bit spicy for her. We had a pleasant experience here. read more

Ordered take-out from here last week while we were staying at an Airbnb nearby. When I walked through the doors to pick up our grub, it felt like I was transported to a cantina in Mexico City: the place was dark and homey, and a few men were having beers and chatting in Spanish while watching a Liga MX game on TV. Obviously, that vision vanished the second I stepped back out into the snow, but I knew right then and there that we were in for an authentic meal. I got the Enchiladas Verdes, which did not represent the biggest portion size in the world, but about what I expected for $9. The rolled tortillas were short, but spongy and home-made. The tang of the green salsa and the creamy, luscious white cheese that was plentiful on top really hit the spot. The refried beans and rice tasted fresh and flavorful. They do it right. I ordered the asada fajitas. They came with flour tortillas which were served hot and came out first like they should. Fajitas were served on a sizzling skillet. Also rice and beans. Food was good. I had an ice cold Modelo Especial beer. read more

They charged extra for an extra bowl of chips without telling. It took forever to get our food. We had to walk up and go inside to get our water refilled. Needed another water refill but left without it. Didn't have a kids menu listed or with prices just mentioned what they may have. The food did taste good. They did have bounce houses for kids. Also it was very dirty. Inside was dirty, menus were dirty, ants on the table, asked to wipe the table off. read more

Stopped here to grab a bite with the kids and dog after exploring the area. We sat on the patio with the dog. They had a bounce house outside and a large grassy area for pup to explore--kids and pup happy! We were greeted with chips, salsa, and a bean dip. Yum! I ordered a Michilada. It was one of the best I've ever had! I also ordered carne asada and al pastor hard shell tacos. Both delicious. My husband ordered a 32oz beer and a carne asada burrito. He enjoyed his also. The worst service I have ever had in my life. Our waitress started off by telling us she was called into work and didn't want to be there. Gave us 2 menus for 10 people and told us it was taco Tuesday and a taco only menu. The tables around us where receiving full menu service. I went inside and asked our waitress why this was, and she replied with, she can't help what other servers are doing. Our order took over an hour and was completely wrong. The food was mediocre. The real concern was that we had 5 kids with us and it took an hour and half to make 4 dishes. I understand that it was Sunday and maybe they understaffed but an hour and a half to get two enchilada plates, a quesadilla, and a burrito is obnoxious. This is not Taco Bell, Taco John's, or even Taco Time--this is a taste if real Mexican cuisine and they feature dishes that you seldom find this far north of the border. Their food is not slathered in red sauce and cheese, but served authentically Mexican. Their entrees are all reasonably priced--you can easily get a nice lunch for under $8.00. Every meal begins with the traditional salsa, beans, and chips ... but with a twist. The salsa is served steaming hot (surprisingly different) and the chips are quite thick (very unique). My favorite item so far is the "chorizo con nopales" taco (Mexican sausage with cactus). This is so tasty--I can't believe I never had it before. The cactus is like a cross between green peppers and green beans. You know it's good because I often see the owner's family eating this when I come in. I also like the "mulitas" (a soft corn tortilla sandwich) with lengua (see below). They have a wide variety of dinner plates featuring steaks, pork chops, and even buffalo. I look forward to trying these soon. You can also choose from many familiar Mexican entrees (burritos, tortas, gordos, chimichangas, enchiladas, etc.). For each entree, you select one of 7 meat options: chicken, beef steak, sweet pork, spicy pork, lengua (tongue), tripe, and the aforementioned chorizo con nopales. Before you freak out on the tongue, you should try it. I was a little apprehensive at first, but loved it. It tastes like the juiciest, most tender pot roast I've ever had. It is especially good on the mulitas. This is a family owned and operated business, so expect to be served by the friendly owner or one of his daughters. They used to be located by the Subway, but moved here when Guadalajaras closed. On the down side, it does have a "divey" feel. Nevertheless, the chorizo con nopales will keep me coming back. read more

Excellent food! Visited for the first time on a Friday afternoon and the place wasn't busy. They have a sign asking for patience as all the food is prepared fresh as it is ordered. Complimentary chips salsa and bean dip were great. The classic marg was tasty and not made with sweet and sour mix. The guacamole was fresh and flavorful. I had the enchiladas molé and they were incredible. My wife had the chilaquiles and they were also excellent. Our server was very polite and checked on us enough to know he was there without being obtrusive. Highly recommend this place and will definitely visit it again. read more

Nothing about our experience was positive whatsoever. We were sat outside at a table that was dirty and covered in a sticky substance. We couldn't get anyone to clean it up and the others around it looked the same. I've never been to a Mexican place that gives you refried beans and green "salsa" (which is horrible) with chips at the beginning of the meal. Several tables around us were being waited on promptly, while ours took forever anytime we needed anything. Not surprising considering we were the English speaking people there. If the food was great we could excuse the poor service but our entrees were terrible as well. Our table had several ants crawling all over it and a couple ended up in my plate of food. We stopped here on our way to the Grand Tetons for a late lunch. It has a nice patio with umbrellas to eat outside. My husband and I were introduced to Mocajetes 2 and a half years ago at an excellent restaurant in San Miguel de Allende and fell in love with the stone bowl which is heated in the fire and filled with delicious grilled meat and vegetables which cook in the liquid that is boiling in the bowl. We haven't found it on a Mexican restaurant menu in California since. So here we were in Griggs, ID, trying to decide which of three Mexican restaurants we wanted to go to and we're so glad we picked this one. It is family owned and run and everyone was so polite and went out of their way to serve us. Their prices are very reasonable and they have a varied menu. We would definitely recommend stopping here to eat. read more

Service...if you're not Mexican or Hispanic, forget about it!!! We ordered to go, and had to wait more than an hour, depending on how many more Hispanics coming in for sit-in dining. Head waitress was rude and unwelcoming. Foods were good though, but tough steak. read more
