Ordered the 3-egg breakfast burrito. Sorry, I've prepared 3-egg breakfasts for myself nearly everyday for 15 years on the Slow Carb Diet and this was probably 2 small eggs. 2 pieces of green pepper. I picked up my order at the counter. Wrapped in paper, on a paper plate with plastic fork and paper napkin. With the foam cup and plastic lid, the disposable trash pile was almost as big as the burrito. I asked for a metal fork. Nope. Go to the Sunrise Cafe. Mervis' Cafe feeds a growing population of Latin cuisine lovers. They've been in the downtown Ft Pierce area for a number of years and there are loyal return customers. My recent visit was not bad. Just not outstanding. I beat the lunch crowd to the counter service and ordered the roast pork platter ($14.72). It came with a large fountain drink/tea and was served with yellow rice, plantains and a small cup of black beans. The pork and onions were good. Moist and a good helping. The yellow rice was nothing special. But it wasn't dry. Plantains were, again, ok. And the black beans had nice seasoning. All served on a Dixie paper plate with plastic utensils. Quick and efficient. There is plenty of seating, all in an open dining area. No privacy. And it's okay if you bring your mail or a package to be shipped. Low Quality, Apathetic and Rude....my 4 year old could make a better sandwich. Horrible. I was so confused by what they served me (a $9 Turkey Club) with burnt bacon and one single slice of turkey so hidden I couldn't see it. The presentation was so strange it turned me off entirely and they couldn't have cared amy less. Been coming here since I was a kid. Super easy to order and all the staff is nice even when they're super busy. One of the best cuban sandwich places around. As a recent transplant from the Miami - Fort Lauderdale area, I came across Mervis' Cafe quite by accident. Seek out the United States Post Office and you will find this authentic Cuban cafe tucked inside. They share the same building. One Media Noche and a grande Cafe con' Leche for me. Eat in, rather than take out. I had almost an hour to burn before picking up my kids from school. Why not spend it at Mervis'? Great sandwich with all the right ingredients and pressed just right, pickle on the side. As for the Cafe' con Leche, the 16 ounce cup contains about 4 ounces of straight espresso. Not too sweet and a decent cup of java. Fast and polite service. They have plenty of seating and parking, along with an extensive menu that includes breakfast. Recent renovations have been done and everything seems new. Mervis' Cafe also has free Wi-Fi. I would definitely visit again for that "Cuban" experience. No issues whatsoever. William E. I've been coming here for an iced cafe con leche for months and it is honestly the best in town. It's strong how I like it and at a good price. I'm pretty sure I wait less than a minute for it every time. I recently (finally) ordered some food and I was not disappointed at all. I got the palomilla steak with rice and beans and substituted the maduros for tostones for an extra $0.89. It was delicious and fresh. The way they marinate the onions and steak is very savory and the rice and beans also tasted very flavorful. The tostones were fresh and hot.
