Needed to start shaking the rust off the clubs. Beautiful hot sunny day had us scooping up a medium bucket of balls for me and my guy. This was going to be plenty. We spent a nice hour out on the driving range hitting a few totally awesome shots and more often semi ok shots with a few air balls thrown in for good measure. The course itself is fun to play for a municipal course. The problem is there is no marshal speeding up pace of play. Played on 8/15/26 at 3 p.m. with 103 degree temps and there was a 4-some of idiots in front of us pacing at 5.5+ hour round drinking, chatting it up at the t-box, giving each other lessons after finding their ball in the woods and hitting, etc. This was with my group and 5 others bunched up behind them and nobody in front of the group of idiots. read more

I play with a group of guys who have a skins game every Sunday. The greens are always great, fairways could use some help. What I really love is the pace of play! In probably 30 rounds, only once has it taken more than 4 hours. Love the Marshall's keeping everyone moving. Some public courses can take 6 hours to play on a Sunday. Not Mesquite!!! read more

My son and I got paired up with an older gentlemen that was playing from the front tees. Having tonolay from two boxes slowed us down a little. We were two minutes behind at the turn so the guy came out from the register to ask us we weren't keeping pace. When Inreminded him who we were paired with he just kept telling me we were behind. Also, clear all your dead brush and fix the errosion in every bunker. read more

Brought my 5 year old son with me to hang out and learn. Got paired up with one of the marshals who seemed nice at first. Had my son one put a couple holes and tee off a couple more, never taking more than one stroke (as not to slow the game down), by the 7th hole the gentleman who was the marshal at the course asked me not to let him hit anymore because it was slowing them down - I didn't argue. Immediately following that discussion he and his partner searched for a ball for 5 minutes despite people directly behind us. At this point I walked off the course. They won't be losing anything, but I won't be playing there again. Also, fairways need some serious work. read more

Oh mesquite golf course... when has it ever been normal for a foursome of average golfers to play 18 holes at a 3 hour pace.... Our tee time was at 9 and we finished at 1. 4 hours man... I thought that was a respectful time of play. We got stopped by 5 marshals all telling us to pick up the pace aggressively ... I think the problem was over booking. I've loved having a course close by but the course marshal army has turned me away from ever coming back or bringing any of my future clients. Worst golf course I've ever been to as far as course management goes. The marshal continued to yell at my party of 2 because of extremely small things that were happening. One was because I went around two other people going to opposite way on a cart only path. I was about 5 yards on the fairway and got right back on and the marshal yelled at us for not knowing what I was doing. I argued with him on that. Another one was because I was parked in front of the cart path line (so exactly how I should have been) and he asked if I had ever been on a golf course. I argued with him again saying I'm in front of the cart path only. If I was doing something "wrong" (which I wasn't), the marshal should have corrected us on it and told us to not let it happen again. But he didn't. He just threw a fit. I'm sure they won't care, but I won't be back to this course, nor do I recommend this course to anyone who's looking to play locally. Drive an extra 20-30min to a much better course. read more

It's a municipal course so it's not awesome but the greens where well kept. The staff hurried us cuz a large group was behind us. We let the one threesome play through at the turn and then were told that all 3 groups (2 foursomes behind them ) were " together and playing a game" and they were ALL playing thru and now 11 players were ahead of us and we should go play the front 9 again. If you play here you will be expected to play very FAST so I would take your foursomes to another course that doesn't let a large group play together as some sort of mini tournament and then dictate what you do with your game. read more

If I could give zero stars, I most definitely would. I've called ahead twice asking for a tee time. They claim to never have one available. Low class course with amateur (at best), golfers. Horrible experience. I've gone over to Town East since they're much nicer. read more

We had a threesome and a random fourth was playing with us. I had to ride in the cart with the fourth guy. When I asked for my own cart since I paid the cart fee they wanted me to pay an additional fee. Pretty lame. Putting green was closed. Cart also started dying on the back 9. Do not play this golf course. We paid for 18 and left on the 13th hole. You can play coyote ridge or buffalo creek for the same price with amenities. No beer girl's, no restrooms only portapotties. They pair you up because they pack the course so full but charge you the same price for a cart. We were on hour 5 before the guy that joined us just left. We left shortly after and passed 15 people still playing. For the treatment and the price we will go elsewhere. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

I am visiting from out of state, and figured i would try some winter golfing down here where the stars at night are big and bright. My wife suggested i try the city course, and booked me a tee time. As soon as i walked in, the guys in the pro shop talked to me like i had been golfing there for years. They are extremely friendly and helpful there. Went to the cafe and got a coffee , great quality for a golf course, and prepared for my round. I was paired with 3 other golfers and we had a blast! The course is very well maintained and the greens are extremely fast. I will absolutely be back next time we are down! read more

Course was in great shape for high 90s every day in Texas. Fun and challenging layout with good prices and safety policies.

Opened in 1964, this course received a well deserved face lift after more than 50 years of service. The greens roll true, the fairways are smooth, the bunkers have good sand that's free of aggregate. If you're lookin for a course with little to no difficulty then you've found a gem. I worked there in h.s. and I have to say the course was in much better shape then. Now its just sad. The tee boxes aren't cut well and almost always beaten to hell. The fairways are barely indistiguishable from the first cut or even out of bounds. The greens, at times, have been pretty good. The course itself is not very challenging. There are no sand traps and although there is water lining half the holes it hardly comes into play on most. The green fees have steadily risen while the quality of the course has declined. The marshalls there are supposed to help things move along, thats a cruel joke, but can rarely be seen. I know how it used to work for them. That job was for pure golf playing privileges so they have little to no pull on the course other than to phone home to the office to get instructions. I've played this course many many times not because I love it but because I wanted to feel good about my game. So to Mequite Municipal I say, It's over. read more

Mesquites Golf Course was far from challenging & prices were fair. I've seen courses in better shape but this one wasn't terrible. The greens were in decent conditions however the overall course had many rough patches. They just need to give it a little more tlc. read more

Forgiving layout but lightning greens. Great course for the average golfer with wide fairways, well mown and many elevated, super quick greens. Really enjoyed the first time experience here and would like to give it another go. Easily got around in 4 hours. Only lost one ball but found half a dozen spares. Soft fringe to the greens made it compulsory to lob onto the green. A chip and run was out of the question as the ball would run right across the green. Portable toilets here and there no big deal. Some great challenging holes here. looking forward to coming back. read more

Used to play here a lot since it is close to my place. Never again after today. Course was a mud pit and didn't even make it past #2. No rain checks regardless of course conditions which, according to the starter, we're not that bad. Seems to me that you really wouldn't have lost anything by offering a rain check. The course was nice for a relaxing day out, then we got back to our truck to find ours and about 5-7 other vehicles had been broken into. When we went inside to ask about cameras, they told us there were no cameras and that this happens frequently. I would highly recommend not going here for this reason. If the staff can't do anything better to help prevent theft on the property, they shouldn't be in business. No signs were posted. Not even a heads up. Thanks. read more

One of the best kept secrets near Dallas! I have played here several times and have never been disappointed. The golf course has always been in good condition since their renovation. The price is excellent for the course and staff is friendly. I was reluctant to review the course fearing the play would slow. The courses was in great shape, the greens were fast but consistent. Great golf for the price.

Had a tee time scheduled at 0810 on 8/26/14, arrived prior to the time and was notified I would need to wait until 0840 because we did not arrive 15 minutes prior to the tee time. When I mentioned there was no indication of this on the website the cashier stated it is an unwritten rule and that he had already given away my tee time. The customer service sucks! I ended up going to another golf course and had a much more pleasant time and paid $20 less. I won't be back to the Mesquite Golf Couse. read more
