On the way out of town and we needed a spot to stop and grab a quick bite to eat. Well we were the lucky ones today. The interior is really clean and decorated nicely. The service was spot on, you literally could not expect it to be any better. The chips were light and the red sauce was warm and perfectly seasoned. The queso was your typical fare. I had the #15 - Sealy Special: Bean chalupa, Crispy beef taco, Guacamole salad, and a Cheese enchilada. ($5.99) Everything was great and the price was super. My son had the #7 - Burrito: your choice of beef or chicken fajita wrapped in a flour tortilla and topped with chili gravy & cheese. Served with rice, beans and pico de gallo. This is more a "cafe" setting, But, my husband and I agree it's the best Mexican food we ever had! We had the tostadas. Everything was so fresh..the lettuce did NOT taste like it was in a bag! The white queso came with a dish of jalapeños. And the staff was nice, attentive, but not annoying. We are just passing through. I'm sorry we aren't here to go back!! read more

Best Mexican food we've had in a long, long time. My hubby and our two teens found this place on Yelp as we were headed home to Houston from San Antonio. So glad for all past positive reviews, we had an amazing experience! Welcoming atmosphere from the moment you walk in, little lanterns and decorations hung here and there, and it smelled heavenly. The menu wasn't overwhelming and had a good selection of items plus a great lunch specials list. A mix of out-of-towners but plenty of locals, as well, which is a testament to how good this place is. Warm salsa and always-fresh made chips on our table, the service here was impeccable. Our waiter was friendly and attentive without being on top of us all of the time. Food came out fast. We hardly spoke to one another when the food was brought out because it was all just that good. My son got a quesadilla with fajita beef and he said it's one of the best he's had. Our daughter ordered the taco salad which boasted a lot of fresh ingredients and tasty fajita beef on top. My husband ordered the verde chicken enchiladas which were delicious and I ordered the lunch special with the tamal and cheese enchilada. The tamal was honestly the best I've eaten since high school (ages ago) when my Dad's co-worker's wife would sell tamales she made from scratch by the pound for extra Christmas money. I didn't share the tamal with anyone because it was just that good ;) so we ordered a dozen tamales to go (along with the chili sauce and cheese on the side) so my family will actually get to try them when we got home. LOL... Even with the extra dozen tamales thrown in, this was a steal as far as price for the meal for 4 people. The least expensive and yet best meal we'd eaten on our whole trip. Needless to say, we plan to revisit this restaurant when we're headed back and forth to S.A. in the future and I'm looking forward to bringing my mom here when we travel to the Schulenberg area this spring. If you spend the majority of your time inside the 610 Loop, any venture beyond that realm qualifies as a "journey". I usually don't take that wild journey down I-10 to visit Sealy Texas but since I have a client out there... well, we do what we have to do to make a living. :) Since our last client meeting, my co-worker and I were determined not to waste an opportunity... we must find the best eats in sweet little Sealy, Texas. Thankfully our search led us to Mesquite Mexican Grill. Upon entering, the dining room looks like grandma's living room and smells like grandma just swabbed the whole place down with a gallon of Pine-sol. Oh well. At least you know it's clean! After a while the smell kind of dissipated which was good. Once the waiter brought the chips and insanely delicious warm salsa, it was as if someone had hit the memory eraser in my brain. Must consume more salsa... And then the food. It's oooooey, gooey, cheesy, caramelized onion deliciousness. It's not gourmet cuisine, it's comfort food... and who doesn't love some Tex-Mex on a beautiful spring day when you're wonderin around Sealy, Texas on an empty stomach. I ordered the grilled chicken breast smothered in cheese and spinach and topped with gorgeous, plump, butterflied shrimp -YUM - and the rice and beans that came with the meal were equally yummy. We stopped at this restaurant on the way from Austin to Houston right before thanksgiving. Ample seating and friendly service. Tableside guacamole for $4! The food everyone ordered was delicious - everything seemed homemade and made to order. They have tamales with some of their dishes and I highly recommend them. I'm not normally a tamale fan but these were the best I've ever had. My husband got the El Rey - skirt steak stuffed with shrimp topped with mushrooms. So tender and flavorful. We will definitely be stopping by again on one of our road trips between Austin and Houston. read more

Found this restaurant on Yelp. Definitely worth the diversion from I-10. The place was packed at 1:00 on a Sunday afternoon. We had the lunch special - the Combo (#5) with taco, beef chulapa, chili con queso and cheese enchilada was excellent. My husband had the #4 which was three chicken ranchero taco dinner with rice and beans. Also fresh and good. Only thing we would change is to thicken the queso a little and sauce on chicken tacos. The food here was good and was a decent portion for the price. The atmosphere was typical Mexican flare that one would find in any small Texas town. I was there a little before noon and the service was prompt and very attentive. Great little spot. We drive through the area on our way to La Grange and West Tx. The salsa was warm, the fajitas were tender, and the flour tortillas are fresh. Had I not read the reviews first, I would have not gone into this restaurant as it's curb appeal is lacking. So glad that we did as the staff was friendly and prompt. My beers were very cold. Let me start off by saying we they have great customer service especially from Luis the waiter. The food was delicious! I had the enchiladas with fajitas and my wife had the flautas. Next time we stop by I'm going to try the guacamole. I find it cool they make it in front of you. To end the meal we had their homemade tres leches cake. My favorite Mexican restaurant in Sealy. I am addicted to their tacos al carbon, but have tried other items on the menu and have enjoyed every one of them. My mother loves the beef quesadillas. During our last visit, my mom tried the lunch #8, which had beef fajita meat, 2 cheese enchiladas, rice, refried beans, guacamole, and pico de gallo for $5.99 and she thoroughly enjoyed it. I got my standard, lunch #12, which came with two beef tacos al carbon, rice, charro beans, guacamole, and pico de gallo for $6.99. Both of us had more than enough and took some home. Unlike most other places, THE LUNCH MENU IS AVAILABLE 7 DAYS PER WEEK and has full meals from $5.99. This is one of the two Mexican restaurants that is tops among the locals. The building is old (dating from probably the 1950s or 1960s), but is comfortable and pleasant.
