Very well trained and knowledgable staff and honest !! My name is Gene Statler, and I own and operate Genes 24 Hour Road Service in Taft ca. Since August of 2002. Call me I'll tell you !! 661 703 3701 Highly recommend.

About a week after having my rear axle seals and brakes done at this shop, I was driving 60mph…read moredown a windy, narrow road and my brakes started locking up on me. I tried to get them unstuck and drove a bit further but then lost all brake pressure and could barely stop. After an uncomfortably long distance I made it to a stop and was stranded in the middle of nowhere with no phone reception and had to hitchhike to the nearest town just to be able to call a friend to pick me up. When I had the mechanics take a look I found that multiple mistakes and inattention to detail were made at the shop, completely causing my brakes to fail. 1) they didn't clean the gear oil out of my drums which had been leaking from the axle seals. The entire reason to replace my shoes was the fact that the gear oil contaminates the brakes. Thanks to them, those brand new pads were instantly contaminated and now squeal at every stop. 2)My driver side brake wasn't assembled properly and pieces were laying in the drum itself!! The retainer clip and spring were mangled and not attached, causing the entire brake assembly to be crooked and loose!! The mechanics at this shop miss the important details of finishing a job correctly. I will NEVER trust my car to be worked on at this shop again and STRONGLY DISCOURAGE anyone to have work done at San Joaquin Automotive. It might be worth mentioning, shortly after my experience I found out that there were several cases of problems encountered by coworkers who took vehicles to this shop. One of the most notable examples: my colleague had his fuel injectors and pump replaced ($2500+ job) a couple days after my work had been done. The mechanic broke a fuel hose without noticing and when driving away from the shop diesel was literally pouring from the engine leaving a solid trail of fuel in the road. Somehow the shop didn't notice this on their test drive??!!!?! DO NOT TRUST YOUR CAR OR TRUCK AT THIS SHOP!!!

It has taken them 2 months to fix the things that were messed up from the break in. 2 long months. And guess what? It still isn't completed. 2. They will drive your car all over town when it is finally road ready to finish getting parts, lunch, dinner, who knows what else. My car was full of gas- as I had just filled it up the morning of the break in-- and it when we picked it up, it was on Empty. 3. They still had not taken the window to be put in while they were running it all over town. Seriously it took less than 30 minutes for them to replace this window at the glass shop considering it had been ordered and sitting on a shelf rack for these two months. 4. It is overheating, making noises and basically running like crap. And let us not forget about the missing radiator cap that we found out was gone. (and the missing knobs for the radio) 5. I went to put some groceries in the trunk this afternoon and realized my full size spare tire was gone. Trust me, it was a full size tire and rim that I had been complaining about being in the way the morning of the break in so I know it was there when it got towed. So what, it just walked off??! I am still waiting on them to finish the work and cannot even get the car smogged until they fix the final part they are waiting on. Yeah, so when I go purchase the new tags, I have to get a smog extension (which who knows how much that will cost) while my car overheats and makes noises while they are content in knowing that they already cashed the check from the insurance. They might have been a good company back in the early days, but now that shop has been run into the ground.

Second was a 2002 Yukon Denali, needed a transfer case rebuild. Just recently my wife's Dodge Durango had been giving us problems. Turns out it wasn't the transmission, but the TCM solenoid. With Angel's honesty, attention to detail, and great work ethic, I've had all repairs done correctly, with minimal downtime, and not being ripped off. This is basically the 2nd worst thing that could happen to a vehicle IMO The job did take time but I made it work with getting around. Angel and his team did have to do some trouble shooting because this specific transmission requires the valve body to be primed on the bench prior to installation. He rebuilt the entire core and also changed out the engine rear main seal. Now, the transmission feels better than ever. I had to give him a little bit of a hard time about not having Zelle which he ended up getting after. Overall I would say, he really does care about taking care of his customers and will make sure the job is done correctly.
