Overall quality of the repair looks great. My problem is I was told $75 at time of drop off for the repairs needed to my boots. I just went to pick up and it was $85. When questioned their response was that it was due to the double stitch. When questioned about being quoted $75 at time of drop off they couldn't care any less. He asked the lady if it was her hand writing and she said yes. He just told her, its $85 due to double stitch. I would not have cared one bit if the quoted price was $85. Stick to the quoted price and have better customer service!! read more

I have never had to get a shoe repair so I researched tons of places. Messina's had excellent reviews so I didn't mind driving out of my way to visit this place. The employees were SUPER friendly just as I heard on the reviews. They were a bit backed up on repairs and they given me a 2 week completion date. I received a text they were ready for pick up in a couple of days so that was a nice surprise. I was very happy with the repair and I will definitely use them again in the future. Top notch repair at reasonable prices.

I took some shoes in that had a fabric covered block heel in a non-standard color. I knew it was iffy if they could fix the deep nicks, or not. I was told it would be three weeks, which I understood, they're a busy place. I came in a few days after the date promised and when the bag was retrieved with my shoes, it had a note in it that , unfortunately, they were not able to do anything to fix the heels. I completely understand that, but it's poor customer service to not have phoned me and just tell me that as soon as that was the diagnosis. I don't know if the cobbler didn't say anything to the front desk staff or if someone just didn't bother to call. But, I was expecting to wear those shoes soon and I would have purchased a replacement pair had I known. I'm not sure if I'll be back. read more

I have been coming to mesinas since I was 4... My dad always came here for his shoe and boot repair needs. Needless to say 24 years later my family still trust them with all our foot wear repair needs! I love the smell of leather and dust mesina has! And they now even sale candles! So smart!!! The girls at the front are very sweet and helpful! They take the same care for my $600 pair of gucci pumps as they do for my $30 plastic boots!!!! This place is a must for anyone looking to maintain their favorite shoes before sacrificing them to the charity of Salvation Army bell ringers and to the donations of Goodwill Super Stores. Seriously though-good shoes are an investment and Messina's is just the place to seal leather, to retouch color, to redo heels, and to fit shoes with new liner. The next best thing to the quality of their workmanship is that it's super cheap (and very practical might I add). Been coming here since 1998. Wouldn't think of going anywhere else! When I lived in Highland Park I used Dino's-2 times only. Once because everyone said it was great. I didn't think so and I was shocked at how crazy expensive. I walked away wishing I had put my shoes into the Salvation Army bin and just bough new shoes instead. seriously. I was very disappointed and frustrated with my most recent visit to Messina's Shoe and Boot Repair. I had three pairs of mens shoes re-soled and was charged over $236.00. I was charged for the full amount prior to service provided and charged a $10 fee for using a debit card. When I picked up the shoes,(within 2 days of scheduled pick-up) I attempted to use a 10% off coupon that I had received in the mail the same day. They would not honor the coupon, and their reasoning was that I had already paid for the service. It was frustrating and ridiculous! Usually, a customer would be charged upon pickup, not drop off, and why send out coupons to the public if you won't accept or honor them? I won't be returning. I was very unimpressed. read more

Wow I am impressed! I brought in a nice pair of Gucci Men's Loafers that Gucci in Dallas quoted an extreme amount just to replace the sole. I wish I had a before and after photo but these were definitely shot and absolutely shocked at how they brought them back to life. Also, brought in a colored leather jacket that was torn in the shoulder and they were able to match it and make it barely even noticeable. read more

Messina's is top notch, and can repair nearly anything. Kelly is super and knows what she is talking about. My daughter, who lives in California, had several pair of expensive boots that had cat pee on them (bad cat!) and none of the shoe repair shops near her could do anything helpful. She brought them here when she came to visit and Messina's went out of their way, trying several processes, to clean her boots. They got almost all of the odor out of the leather and suede! They have repaired shoes and boots for us, replaced straps on a purse and stretched several pair of shoes. I highly recommend them. read more

Took in pair of BLUE Michael Kors flats for a polish. Returned them as BLACK shoes. THEY said they did not change the color. 5/3 Update. The store manager, Kim, called me this morning and apologized on behalf of Kelly and the man yelled at me (who is the owner/artist, Sam Messina). The work is actually already completed and she only charged half price. So, big kudos to Kim for making it right. Thing is, I wasn't even dissatisfied with the time it was taking and I'm confident their work is excellent. Whole thing was avoidable had someone listened to me. Even though I do appreciate Kim and her efforts, I think it's best for both parties that I not go back. (I'm still shocked the owner spoke to me like he did...) Based on their reputation for excellent leather repair, I took my old leather backpack to see if they could make some repairs because my daughter has been using it. A young man at the counter said someone would have to look at it and they'd call me. I got a message on Saturday 4/15 saying they could do some repairs and clean it up. I called on 4/17 to approve the work and was told, "I can't find the order, but I'll call you if I can't find it." And I was fine with that. So now it's been 2 weeks and I called to get a status update. The girl who answered the phone told me, "we told you we'll call you when it's done." To which I replied, "no one told me that." She was exasperated and irritated when I tried to explain, "No One Told Me" and she said, "They had to have! That's how it works!". I tried to tell her that when I originally dropped it off, the guy who helped me seemed pretty young and did not tell me anything other than someone would call me. The girl then repeated herself that the bag needs lots of work and it could take a couple weeks. I replied that it's been a couple weeks, but she interrupted before I could ask how much longer. She continued to refuse to listen or even say, "I'm sorry no one explained the process" or anything. Finally I was able to ask, "do you mean 2 more weeks from now?" and she said "Yes!!" Why didn't she say that to begin with? Instead, she yelled at me. She said, "You're wasting my time, I'm busy, I have customers." and she hung up on me. I called back, she didn't even say hello. She just said, "here's my manager". He said I was the one arguing, did not even ask what happened, and said I can pick up my bag. I was told they were in the middle of working on it. I'm interested to see if that was even true. I will tell everyone my experience and they're better off finding another leather repair shop. read more

I brought my boots here to have new rubber put on the heel which they said would cost about $17. When I came back they had resoled my boots and charged me $54 to get them back because they said they wouldn't have done it if they didn't need it and they couldn't just give the work away. I'm so sad because they do good work and the lady at the front was so nice, but I can't afford to pay an extra $37 for their mistake again. Horrible customer service!! Avoid this place like the plague! I went to pick up the shoes on the day they were supposed to be ready and they told me they hadn't started on them. They misplaced a bucket of shoes and it would be another week. I asked I'd be getting a discount and they said yes. Then a few days later I received a message that said they would be charging me 3x the original quote. When I called to politely discuss how ridiculous this was since they lost my shoes and didn't have them ready when they were supposed to be ready in the first place. They may be friendly, but don't count on them keeping their promise when your repairs will be done. This is the third and final time I will use them. Every time they promise a date, it takes days to weeks longer to get your repair done. The quality is certainly not what you pay for in my opinion. They charge a proud price for average work. I took my favorite heels in to have the heel tips replaced. I wasn't able to remove the tip on my own and my friend loves this place. I went in and was greeted by a super friendly woman. The process was quite painless, she offered to fix the toe of my shoe since it was scuffed. We agreed on a time to pick up the shoes and I went on my way. I had read some scathing reviews, so I was pleased about the process so far. Clearly the problems happen when you go to collect your belongings... When I went to pick up my shoes there was a line out the door, so I waited patiently behind about 10 people. While waiting I noticed a sign high on the wall (I do stress... HIGH... meaning you have to look towards the celing to notice this sign) that said if you didn't have your ticket there would be a $5 charge. I frantically looked for my ticket in vain since I had recently switched purses. I was slightly irritated that I didn't notice the sign when I dropped my shoes off and the girl didn't mention it to me, but I certainly wasn't going to drive all the way back home only to fight the crowds on Main St Grapevine one more time. When it was finally my turn I told the girl that I didn't have my ticket. She was visibly irritated and asked my name. I gave her all the details and she huffed and said "I'm going to get to you later and wait on someone that has a ticket!" This is poor customer service in my opinion. You are already going to charge me $5 for your inconvenience, but now you're going to put me at the back of the line?? Since it was crowded I stepped aside, not wanting to make a scene. She helped the next person in line who also did not have a ticket. To my shock she did not make the next customer go to the back of the line. She actually helped him, while I stood there. I was livid. Thankfully another girl came and helped me. She found my shoes on the first try without issue. She was very sweet and had zero attitude problem like the other girl. Customer service issues aside... It doesn't take a genius to replace heel tips. They did a fine job. No complaints there. I will complain about the toe 'repair'. All they did was take a marker to the toe of my shoe... and charge me $10! I could have done that. She made it seem like they were going to actually REPAIR the toe. I might go back for simple heel tip replacement. The attitude of the staff is certainly a turn off. Also, don't lose your ticket! read more

Took a pair of boots in to get stains removed from the leather, turned into a disaster. First off, I came to pick up my boots the first time and they said they weren't ready. Second time around, they try to hand me my boots back with *literally* nothing done to them and charge me. Finally when I come back, again, they decided to color my boots to cover up the stains as opposed to cleaning like I asked. All they did was get rude and defensive about how "they do quality work" even though I wasn't attacking their work, rather expressing frustration that they changed the color of my boot. (Not to mention, they only applied the coloring to one boot) So after dropping the ball on their deadlines, trying to charge me for nothing, then modifying my boots in a way I did not want, they offered me nothing but rudeness and demanded payment. read more

Very poor customer service I got two pairs of shoes repaired at this location. When I picked them up today after two weeks, one pair of shoes had not been repaired. I asked to speak to a manager/owner and I was told he wasn't there. I spoke to Samantha who repaired my shoes, but only after I asked to get it done now. Her response is "that things get overlooked". She never apologized for the job not getting done. I paid my bill and left the shop, knowing that I would not be doing business again with them due to the poor customer service. However, 5 minutes later, I received a phone call from an employee telling me that I was "banned" from visiting their shop. He then hung up on me. When I called back to actually talk to the owner, I was told again by Samantha that she was a Messina, so I didn't need to talk to the owner. I have never experienced such poor customer service in Grapevine. I'm appalled at the lack of professionalism from their staff. I too run a family business and I know it's only as good as your reputation. If I was a Messina family member, I would be embarrassed at how this customer was treated. The owner took such great care of us and helped us figure out exactly which sole he needed. He ended up with a crape sole. He double stitched the soul on - they are fantastic!! He went to a lot of trouble just to find the right sole. You just can't find that service very much - but this place has it. They also fixed a traveling bag for me. Messina's is so successful that they forget that the reason of their success is their customer base. Recently I took over 9 pairs of shoes, expecting for them to receive me with open arms (I am bringing good business!). What I got was a roll of the eyes and bad attitude from the young lady at the counter. When I asked why she seemed bothered, she just said.. 'it is just too much... it never stops!'. She never spoke with me again and kept making grunt noises as she was classifying the shoes. She gave me a pile of papers and never thank me for my business. When I got the shoes... they just forcefully put as many shoes as possible in two plastic bags... that ripped before I got to the door. The young lady saw this and didn't offer a new bag. This place is fantastic! I was a little hesistant to take my purse in to be fixed after the two terrible reviews on here, but every co-worker I asked where to take it all said the same thing. Messina's. I thought my purse was a gonner, I mean it had a GIANT grease stain on the front of it. I wanted to cry. Yeah it took longer than I could stand, (To be honest, I hadn't had the purse very long before it's untimely demise, so it was my issue, not Messina's) but I can honestly say that it looks like it never happened. I am so relieved, especially since this is not a purse that I can just go out and replace. While their work is top-notch, their customer service is lacking. I have taken shoes to be repaired and purses to be cleaned and both times the customer service was terrible. With the shoes, we brought them in to have the sole replaced because because of a hole. The woman at the counter didn't write down our order correctly and we got a call a week later saying they couldn't go any further with the repair because their was a hole in the sole. I told the woman that was why we brought it to them in the first place and she said "oh, it wasn't on the ticket." This time I brought two purses to be cleaned and the woman told me they'd be done by Friday. When I called on Saturday to see if they were done I commented on the fact that no one had called and the lady on the phone said "we don't call when stuff is done." It would have been nice to know that up front. Then she wouldn't even take my ticket numbers to make sure if my purses were done she told me "well there are no pending jobs that are just cleanings so I guess they are done." How hard is it to check my ticket numbers so I don't have to drive all the way from Keller just to see if my purses are done? While their work is great, they customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I think I will be finding a new repair store. read more
