I can't express how impressed I am by the staff at the Messy Art Lab (Garden Studio). The ladies went way above and beyond for my son's 5th birthday party. All the children had such a fun time and the parents thought the event had purpose. We had 12 kids and their parents as our guests. The new outdoor space is perfect especially during covid. Masks are still encouraged even outdoors, which made our guests feel safe. I met with Lindsay for a tour of the new location space and booked it immediately a few months prior to the party date. Lindsay was helpful with answering all my questions via email. They set up so many art and sensory stations that the kids didn't even get to do all of them. There was a good variety of different activities, something for everyone. We added an add on activity to the birthday package which was an instructor led project. Originally, my son picked potions but after Yoissy inquired about my son's interest, she came up with an intricate volcano project. She was so engaging and taught the kids/parents how to make a volcano with mixed media and then do the science experiment. It was so creative and fun! We even went over our time limit for a whole hour. Thank you Yoissy and staff for your extra time and patience with the kiddos! We also brought our own decorations and snacks/cupcakes. However, if you want to use their decorations, it's really cute if you don't have a specific theme. The staff was also super helpful the entire day. I could not be happier with how well the party went and highly recommend having a toddler's birthday here! Please note that the new location is on 1371 9th Avenue, not Judah. Parking is limited in the Inner Sunset, but it's nice that there's a loading zone in front of the Messy Art Lab. read more

My daughter recently attended a birthday party at Messy Art lab, and our family had the best time. There were so many wonderful craft and activity stations, and the kids had a blast exploring the wonderful indoor space and backyard, which was all set up for kids to exercise those creative juices and get messy! The teachers were all amazing and wonderful with the kids, especially Michael, who was equally playful and patient with them ;-). My daughter loved her experience and wants to have her own birthday party there someday, too! Highly recommend. read more

I love Messy Art Lab! My 1.5 year old loves it too. Teacher Betty is great. She is super kind, organized and patient with the group in the big group settings. I love the free play accompanied with the activity at the end of class. We're looking forward to when classes open back up after the summer. We love the Messy Art lab for their classes and summer camps, but I also wanted to say this is my absolute favorite place to hold a kids birthday party. We've celebrated our kids birthdays here and they are the best. They really do it all- set up, plan activities and lead the group during the event. I'd like to recommend an amazing art class in SF, that my little one fell in love with recently. It is a WOC-owned, free play, multiple art stations (kinetic sand, slime-making, playdough-making, paint plastic animals with squeeze bottles, painted rice play in a tent, glow-in-the-dark room, water bead water table, and more) art lab. I mention these two things, ownership and their free play approach, because they're both so important to us as a family. This place is magic. There are 4 classes left in the summer series. We reserved the larger outdoor Garden studio from Messy Art Lab for my daughter's 5th birthday on October 8th and it was magical! The space is very large and we had a party with 20 kids and 20 adults. Yoissi, Laena, Delia and Angela were so accommodating with the entire process. They set everything up, even helped me set up the food station, kept the party on track and the activities fun, and were such professionals. We recently had Messy Art Lab host a guided art activity for a small group of children next to Glen Park Playground. They were amazing at setting everything up prior to the kids' arrival, including their own cute picnic table! Yoissy and another teacher did such a lovely job guiding multiple activities with children ranging from 3 years old all the way to 9 years old. The activities spanned a couple hours total, and each child seemed really happy with their creations. It also gave the adults lots of time to chat :) I would highly recommend Messy Art Lab for future parties. It felt extremely COVID-safe as everyone was masked the entire time outdoors. I have been to Open Studio and also held my daughter's 5th birthday at Messy Art Lab. This place is seriously the greatest, and I wish it had existed when I was a kid. My 3 year old daughter took a class at Messy Art Lab and had so much fun! She had so much fun that we booked her 3rd birthday party here last Saturday. Yoissy is incredibly accommodating and so nice. All the kids enjoyed themselves. I had some adults let me know that they had so much fun too. They want a party like this for themselves! Everything was well organized. All the art materials are non-toxic. All the spaces and stations were developmentally appropriate and so fun. Every kid was immersed in an activity. We had the option to add on extras for the party like slime making and canvases to take home later. Her event assistant was very warm and welcoming. Our daughter *loves* the Messy Art classes, but this review is about the private event space they offer. We hosted our daughter's 3yr old birthday party at Messy Art Lab on Saturday (10 am - Noon) and it was a huge success. We had 14 kids and 20 adults and the space worked great, with art activities upstairs and socializing and eating/cake downstairs. The space was bright, clean, interactive and interesting for the kids. The owner, Yoissy, is fantastic to work with and put together some great art-themed gift baskets for the kids. The art portion was just over an hour, and Yoissy brought out new activities throughout that time to help keep the kids engaged. The kids all loved her. In addition, prices are very affordable. Highly recommend for any parents looking for something fun to do for a class or a space to throw a private party. read more

Yoissy graciously arranged a private camp for our preschool class during one of our breaks and when no other camps were available. The camp was so well organized and fun- the kids did cooking projects, made beautiful art in the garden, and played at the botanical gardens ! Yoissy makes fantastic use of the neighborhood spaces so that the kids get to explore. She had two other colleagues helping her with our camp and both were equally warm and professional. It is clear that they all know how to engage young kids, encourage creativity and exploration, and also keep them safe. We would do this camp again in a heartbeat! read more
