One server making the whole place rock 'n' roll. Which meant things were a little slow. Food took quite a while. Hollandaise sauce is like a beautiful ocean view from a cliff on a sunny day. You don't know how wonderful it really is until you are immersed in it. The sauce was very tasty. The poached eggs struck me as a bit runny, so I will be sure to ask for over medium or a slow yolk next time. I elected for the upcharge for avocado and the serving size was small. The breakfast potatoes were overly salty and of the standard frozen variety, which sort of clashed with the expert presentation of the egg's benedict. I would 100% return. read more

By far the best restaurant in the MatSu Valley! The ambiance is comfortable while still providing the table service one would expect from a nice restaurant. Service is excellent. Attentive Servers without rushing your experience. And the food, the real reason why I so enjoy Meta & Rose, never disappoints. I'm a sucker for appetizers and a pork belly junky. Well, Meta has nailed both. Their Korean Style Pork Belly plate is outstanding and I will often go for the Pork Belly and stay for the entrees. Wasilla and the MatSu Valley is starving for good restaurants and Meta & Rose is filling a hungry void. read more

We stopped in for brunch midweek, and we're only 1 of 2 tables. It's described as an upscale diner, and that fits the bill perfectly. We had great iced mochas, and ordered the fried chicken brunch bowl (chicken, gravy, eggs, truffle potatoes), and the eggs Benedict with tomato and truffle potatoes. It feels a little pricey but the portions are large and the food was really well done. Service was quick and we were on our way as soon as we'd finished our food. read more

I dined here April 2022 a few months into their opening, and was less than impressed. At that time I said I would come back to dine for their brunch/lunch menu. As their "fine dining" dinner menu was like ordering fine dining from Wish. WELP today was the day I came back to try to see if the lunch menu could redeem this place. I was optimistic about this meal because the photos of the brunch/lunch menu that I saw on their website looked very nice. They have smartly rebranded themselves as a "wine & coffee house" on their website, and dropped the fine dining label. This was definitely necessary because the only thing of fine dining caliber were the prices. Sadly I cannot say that my meal this afternoon was any better than my first experience. I really am shocked to see so many 5 & 4 star reviews. Prices for lunch are still pretty high for the value, but much better than dinner. If you compare the menu prices online to the ones on the dine in menu you will see though that they did drop the pricing so it seems like they at least take feedback to heart. We were a party of 3 adults & 2 kids. I ordered a yuzu mimosa ($11), which was quite citrusy & refreshing. My friend got the grapefruit & honey mimosa ($11), which she said was very good. They have quite the fun beer & wine based cocktail menu as well as a variety of mimosas. The cocktails were a nice start, but the food definitely fell flat. I ordered green chili bison sliders for $19, but on the website they're listed at $24. If I paid $24 for these sliders I'd be pissed. They were tiny, and essentially flavorless. The patty wasn't seasoned well, and they were overcooked. I didn't taste the green chilies at all. I used the garlic aioli from my son's classic burger to help flavor them. They do not have a kid's menu, but I've created a mini foodie with my 4 year old so I ordered him the classic cheeseburger ($19). I didn't get a bun, lettuce, tomato or onion as he likes to just eat the cheeseburger with a fork. This was a smash burger, and it was probably around 1/4 lb. My 4 year old ate the entire thing so I can imagine an adult wouldn't be too satisfied just having a burger. The lunch entrees all come with seasoned steak fries, which were very crispy and seasoned well. Meta & Rose certainly does a good steak fry. My 1 friend & I were sharing entrees. She ordered the hot chicken sandwich, and this was definitely the best thing on the table. It was sweet & a little spicy. The chicken was juicy, the breading was decent. This sandwich actually had flavor especially compared to the sliders. The only thing was the lettuce & tomato on it were wilted & sad. The food doesn't really look anything like the pictures, which reminds me of when you dine at fast food restaurants. Service this visit definitely was not great. I'm not sure if this server was new or just in over her head, but they need to work on training their staff. We were 1 of 3 tables when we ordered our food. By the time our food was coming out 3 other tables had joined, and 1 had left so we were 1 of 5 tables. Most of these tables were 2 tops. That is not busy for peak lunch hours in a small restaurant so understandably only 1 server was working. But some severs cannot handle working FOH on their own. My other friend, and her daughter ordered the grilled cheese as well as 1/2 order of biscuits & gravy. All the food except for the biscuits & gravy as well as 2 orders of fries (my fries for my sliders & my friend's for her grilled cheese) were dropped off at the table. We figured the rest would be coming shortly. The server never came back to check on us so after about 10 mins we finally flagged the server down to inquire about the biscuits & gravy (this item was for a 4 year old as well). I was a bartender & server for 10 years, and would probably still be working at the same restaurant if I hadn't moved to AK. I could tell she forgot to put the order in in by her reaction. She goes to the kitchen to check, and comes back out to tell us it will be ready in 5 minutes. Mistakes happen and that's understandable, but there was no apology, no even trying to blame it on a lost ticket, no acknowledgment that everyone else's food arrived over 15 minutes before the biscuits & gravy. Zero realization that we were also missing 2 orders of fries. There was no trying to rectify the situation by offering a free dessert or to take something off the check. Just really poor customer service. When it comes to dining at Meta & Rose it seems like you'll be playing roulette with your meal. Some food is decent, some food is bad. None of it seems to be outstanding. If you're interested in rolling the wheel and seeing what you'll get then give Meta & Rose a try. If you prefer consistency as well as food that tastes good take the time to drive to Palmer to get brunch at Feather & Flour. I think the only reason this place gets rated so high because it's the only restaurant of its kind in Wasilla. read more

We stopped in for brunch today and they were very accommodating for our last minute reservation for a party of 6. We had a very short wait as soon as we arrived and the table was perfect for us. We were not crowded and the seats were comfy. The restaurant is cute! I love the modern classy look and the ambiance is very welcoming. The staff is ok, the seating hostess seemed a bit bothered when we arrived but our waitress was amazing. They have quite an extensive wine and champagne options. Not a full bar but that's ok. They offer a great selection of coffee items, including a whole French press..that's cool. The menu is classy..I loved the variety and refined options that they offer. I ordered the beef Wellington and it was awesome!! I loved it. The potatoes served with it was pretty good (Cajun). Everyone enjoyed their meal. We ordered the eggs Benedict (no complaints), the burger was ordered and enjoyed, the pear salad was thoroughly enjoyed by my sister and my daughter loved the grill cheese. I want to give this place five stars. The things I like about this place, I really like. The service is a hit or miss. They're always kind but generally pretty slow and sometimes it feels like you're waiting forever when it's not even that busy. They have great cocktails, and all of the food I have had there is really amazing. We went there for biscuits and gravy because it is one of my favorites and I have read how good it was. It is pretty good and I love that they have some bougie coffee options. The other downside is how nasty the fabric covered chairs are. This place could use a good scrub and maybe some new chairs, I'm not even sure a good cleaning would get those guys to look decent. Overall, I really do love the food and the intimate experience of this place. There's some areas that they could improve to make this five stars read more

Our first time at Meta and Rose was for my sons birthday. We came for Sunday brunch and it was FANTASTIC. First off, I made the reservation the day before and they accommodated our party of 8 very well. The menu is amazing. So many delicious things. The restaurant is cute and very chic. We ordered our meals and the service was excellent. Our server brought us plates of small pastries (complimentary). They were delicious. Then he refilled drinks and brought us small bowls of soup (two varieties and also complimentary). Very yummy and very European. Then our entrees came and they were phenomenal. So much flavor. My friends and sister stumbled upon this beautiful artistic restaurant. The staff was very friendly! We were seated immediately on a Friday afternoon. We did start off with two appetizers the first being a charcuterie board and the second being a Korean Pork Belly. The bread is complementary I am I was very good and the radishes perfectly seasoned to go on the bread. For dinner I've got the dirty chicken Alfredo and my friends and God that truffle mushroom pasta and the Lamb lollipops. Between the atmosphere and the food we would highly recommend ! I've been here enough times and at different times to be able to say with 100% confidence that the food here is GOOD. If you want flavor, you got it! My favorite appetizer is the Korean pork belly. It's easy to pull apart and the pickled veggies that come with it pairs flavors so well. My favorite entree is the lemon garlic halibut. Wow! We went here two nights in a row it was that good! Our server was amazing and had great recommendations! Between the two nights we tried the bone marrow, chili sliders, tomato bisque, side salads, halibut, fillet, feta and peach salad, pistachio and rum crème brûlée, and chocolate torte. The apps come out as a tie they were both stellar! With your meal you get a soup or salad - I'd personally skip the salad their starter salads are more or less store items and not as inspired as the rest of the menu which left us puzzled but the dressing was the house made vinaigrette and that was solid! The soup was AMAZING! You need to try it. On to the mains all three were great! The halibut was our favorite and the table side pour of the garlic cream sauce really took it up a notch! The fillet was very tender and cooked perfectly. The peach salad wasn't really what I'd describe as a "main" but I get it used much better ingredients that their starter salads so that may have been why? It also lacked any texture differential which would have been nice - maybe some candied pecans? Both deserts were good although we vastly preferred the crème brûlée - it was so out of the box! read more

When I choose to go to a restaurant and get apps, entrees, alcohol, and et cetera, I'm not going to eat food: I'm going to spend time with people I care about. That was impossible here, where the chairs were so close together, and the acoustics so bad, that I felt like one of so many sardines packed in an echo chamber. It was overstimulating and felt crowded (even though it's a considerably small venue), with so little walking room that customers and servers kept hitting our chairs as they passed and we couldn't hear ourselves talk without shouting even though the space is so small. I know it was a weekend, but I wish they had something to dampen the noise. I've been in way larger and more crowded restaurants that felt half as noisy The price point is on par with Anchorage's Crows Nest, but the food isn't quite to that standard. Soup of the day was too salty, and the hazelnut chicken was both too dry and too sweet. However, the Alfredo was AMAZING. Honestly the best I've ever had. And the server suggested a very good wine. I can't complain about the service. They were nice, and kept us topped off on water and complimentary bread while we waited for the entrees read more

We got the charcuterie board ($24) and it was very disappointing (small- poor quality). We saw our server 4 times and had to ask others for help. This was a special occasion (23 year anniversary) which I indicated during reservation but it was not acknowledged once. We got the ribeye and filet. Both cooked perfectly but everything lacked proper seasoning. We love fine dining and never mind paying for a quality experience. $200 for 2 entrees, 1 appetizer and 4 drinks. Everything was quite overpriced. We opted for no dessert as each were almost $20. We'll go elsewhere for our next special occasion. read more

Cute place. Brunch was pretty good "for Wasilla." My steak and eggs dish were just a little too salty and I love salt (in fact before tasting it I asked the server to bring me some). Segue... The server, nice gal, but either super new to waiting tables, forgetful, unable to prioritize, or overwhelmed - really not sure, but here in lies the reason for 2-stars. My wife and I ordered iced tea. I asked for sweetener with mine. When the server brought our drinks, she placed them on the table and hurried off without saying a word - I thought she was running to get the sweetener. Nope - we didn't see her again until 25 minutes later when our food came out. We were asked if we needed anything else, and even offered salt, pepper, and hot sauce...to which we said we would appreciate having those, and it was at this point I reminded the lady I was still waiting on sweetener for my tea. As we waited on the server to return with our condiments we went ahead and got started on sampling the food, which then led to full on eating. Our entrees nearly finished, as well as my tea, the server showed back up with my sweetener, but no salt (which turns out was not required), no pepper, no hot sauce. With only a sip left in my glass, I told her it was not needed anymore. If I was the server I would had probably offered a refill, but that didn't occur. Someone with some experience help this lady out - she struggled and it wasn't that busy. Upon entry we waited approximately 5 minutes to be seated. With plenty of seats available down stairs we were promptly ushered upstairs. We were only one of only 2 tables upstairs with LIVE MUSIC.... Now I love live music but with speaker cranked up in a tight dining room upstairs I couldn't let alone talk to my wife or even a process a thought in my brain besides "WTF". Now the thing that really stuck with me is that the lines cooks decided to come sit on the couch and talk to lady performing live music I feel like that is extremely weird as we were the only table at the time.... For a place of this "stature" it's embarrassing. The chefs were also complaining about the kitchen.... The walls upstairs are unfinished and looked horrible. The food is the only reason this place gets 2 stars because it was okay but over priced.... 19$ for 4 cubes of pork is insane. Food did come out relatively quickly but I think it was because they weren't busy. Our waitress only came around 4 times once for drinks, once for our order, brought the drinks, and then dropped the check off. Not once were we offered another round, but that's okay because the bill was still 150$ out the door for two people. I feel like not a lot of people talk about silverware, but the silverware here is so nice! I have no idea what it's made out of, but the forks and knives had this really nice weight to them, and the knives cut through food so cleanly. I guess this is the difference of fine dining! Right away I have to say the food here is BOMB. Amazing. If I could rate this restaurant on just the food, it's easily a 11/10. My Dad had Reindeer soup, which was one of the soups of the day. I had few spoons and let me tell you- this soup is a 10/10! It had the perfect balance of spice, meat, and heartiness without being too salty. He also had the philly cheesesteak with cajun fries (no picture) I had a bite and it was delicious. The bread was nice and hot and the cheese pull was SO satisfying. We ordered the hummus board and the sesame ginger poke tacos (both appetizers) and the hummus is so good, texture wise and flavor wise! The platter came with flatbread, celery and carrot sticks, marinated artichokes, grilled onion, tomato wedges, olives, and tampenade. I highly recommend ordering this! The sesame ginger poke tacos were also amazing. The crispy wonton shell balanced perfectly with the juicy sauce on the ahi tuna and it's just like this little party in your mouth. Oh, and the DESSERT! Normally we never order dessert, but after seeing the options we couldn't resist. We got the cheesecake and the chocolate torte, and my entire family agreed that the chocolate torte was the better one out of the two. (And my mom is someone who doesn't eat chocolate...so the fact that she enjoyed it says something!) The only reason why I give this place a 4/5 is the service. We had a reservation set for 1:15, but the waiter didn't seat us until about 5 mins. There were 3 servers working and the place was pretty busy when we arrived, but slowed down shortly after. At first, we were offered to try a soup sampler, which was very good! But after sampling the soup, there was an awkwardly long wait for someone to come and receive our order (around 10/15 mins). Furthermore, when we ordered dessert, we waited around 12-15 minutes again for the slices to come out, which kind of felt like it it was longer than it should've been? I don't know. If you're here to relax and talk with your friends, this is the perfect restaurant! The prices are higher, but the food is worth it. Maybe not the wait though. read more

The price is what you would expect it to be for a mid to upscale dining experience. 2. 12/2022 we attended for the second time. The atmosphere was still as beautiful, the food just as wonderful, but the service lacked a little compared to the previous experience. It was less elegant and more casual. I enjoy dining there for the elevated experience and felt that wasn't present our second time around. read more

We found this gem when looking for a late lunch. We asked for the soup of the day and we told it was the halibut soup. Our server offered to bring us a sample before we committed to it. I loved it so had that as my meal and my husband has the grilled cheese. Our food was great. The real star was the pistachio creme brulee. That exceeded my expectations! This eclectic restaurant tucked into the Clock Tower is a gem. The atmosphere is relaxing with the music choice and the decor, the service is excellent and the presentation was beautiful!
