I was so happy to eat here once again after the long awaited reopening. We were not disappointed. We like to sit at the bar and Jason/Shawna were spectacular like always! After enjoying Easter Brunch at Settler's Bay earlier this year, we decided to celebrate our birthdays there as well and it didn't disappoint! It's off the beaten path too, with beautiful views. I made reservations; however, we were there early for dinner, so it was fairly quiet, which was nice. It became busier as the evening went on. Service was excellent, our server was jovial and attentive! Cocktails, appetizers, entrees and dessert! We were all beautifully miserable by the time we walked out two hours later! We never felt rushed, nor ignored and that was a great way to casually celebrate! I walked along the cook line thanking each one of them for the fabulous dinner! Easter Brunch will definitely be a new tradition and I wouldn't hesitate to go for dinner throughout the year, especially for a celebration. read more

Loved the location, the decor and ambiance. The view is magnificent. We were a very large party and got seated inside within minutes. The menu has outstanding options for adults and children. The drinks were outstanding and the older kids loved the hot chocolate The food was delicious and every one of us ordered different things and we all loved it. Highly recommend the scallops wrapped in bacon. Desserts were awesome from the peanut pie, the chocolate cake and the best carrot cake ever. The service was MAGNIFICENT. Love this place never had a bad meal here. I wish it was a bit cheaper but excellent food and atmosphere, 1000% recommend the blueberry lamb. I only had the salad when I visited Settlers bay lodge 7/10/25. Unfortunately the salad gave me a nasty case of food poisoning. The salad seemed to be the only option as I do not eat meat or dairy products. I hope that they review food handling protocols and do better in the future. I've been going here throughout the years. The most recent visit I was disappointed. I ordered the curry and my boyfriend and his son ordered the tempura shrimp and scallops. First off it was yellow curry. It was so spicy, and the curry did not have a good flavor. I like spicy, but this was way over the top. Yellow curry is supposed to be the mild of the curries. I couldn't eat it. The chicken was dry, which its chicken breast, to be expected. I should have sent the dish back. The tempura shrimp and scallops was more of a beer batter than tempura. We did order dessert, carrot cake, cheesecake, and crème brûlée. My BF was not impressed with the cake. The other 2 were ok. Our bill was $160 with tip and we left disappointed. So disappointing. The food LOOKS great. Tasting it is a whole different story. It's such a beautiful location it's a shame the food isn't up to par. Ordered a spicy bloody Mary. They made it spicy by putting a bunch of ground up pepper in it. How can I say tastefully yuck!? The appetizers were the best part although some things were over salted and some had no seasoning at all. I'd say if you're going to come here, make a meal of the appetizers and grab a brew. The steaks were tough and chewy with very little viable meat. My medium was rare. Colossal eye roll. The service was the only thing that saved this experience. Our food was good, although it took quite a while to receive. Our server was honestly pretty absent. It was not the worst service I have received, but definitely wasn't the best. One of our steaks came out with French fries, even though it was advertised to come with potatoes and veggies. The veggies were good, but came out lukewarm. My steak was cooked PERFECTLY. The desserts were good. I had the peach crumble. In my opinion, it could use more crumble, but it wasn't overly sweet. Overall, the experience was okay. The restaurant is well lit and clean. I'm docking a star. While I still love the aesthetic of this restaurant, and I think the value is good for the price-BUT-the quality of the food seems to be inconsistent. Our first meal here was very good, and I was impressed with the quality. We dined this past September, and the meal was good, but not as impressive as the first visit. We came here on NYD 2021, and the food quality definitely seemed not as good as it was the last 2 visits. The appetizers we ordered in terms of flavor and presentation were not as good. The portion sizes on the Cajun calamari and steamer clams seemed much smaller than normal as well. The entree portion sizes were decent, but the taste seemed a bit lacking. I ordered the black & bleu pasta special and the sauce was essentially flavorless, but I will give them points for the steak being cooked well (medium rare). I definitely don't hold this restaurant to the same standard as places like Altura, Little Mermaid, 229 Parks & Addie Camp. It is more of a supper club/lodge in terms of menu items and presentation not a fine dining experience. So keep that in mind when dining to adjust your expectations. I do think that they can produce a more consistent product for what they do well. Seems like sometimes depending on the kitchen staff quality does change, which they can work on. I know things have become more expensive but the price has gone from $28 to $37 . what's worse, you know longer get a salad or bread and garlic spread. Unfortunately, without the salad and bread, the cost is borderline absurd. I feel like the ingredients aren't the same quality either.One beer and an adequate pasta dish wish no sides or palette cleanser for a bill of $49. add in the tip and you're walking out the door with $60 gone and no leftovers for your midnight snack. This is our favorite date night restaurant in Wasilla. They have the best steak that I have had in the state. They have always been accommodating to my wife's food allergies by changing recipes for her. The only thing I wish they had is sweet tea. read more

Appetizer came before the drinks (drinks were well mixed and balanced) and before the bread service which had to be requested (twice) Appetizer was delivered without a steak knife (which was needed.). Entre order taken and argued if substitution could be made (always have been in the past.) The menus were left at the table. Appetizer remains were taken along with cutlery which was not replaced. You kind of need a knife. Food took a long time. They did periodically update us that "it would be right out". 50 minutes from seat to serve. They got the order wrong. Risotto instead of mashed, sautéed onions instead of mushrooms. New York was cooked correctly. Cordon bleu was good. Free desert since it was our anniversary was a nice touch. Never did refill the water.We have been coming here for years and this was highly unusual--service has been much better in the past. read more

The fiancé and I had been in town to visit a friend and see his new pad && puppy! I got a sweet gin & tonic with Gin that was purple! It was kinda awesome && tasted great! We started with escargot - one of the things I will genuinely order knowingly it contains butter && order it anyways (lactose patron). It did not disappoint! Everyone enjoyed them! I got the turkey noodle soup which looked like the bottom of the barrel. The noodles were engorged from sitting in the pot all day but had great flavor! The fiancé got French onion soup, which I had a taste of the broth and was nice and beefy. We all ordered the Pepper Steak, which I should of known not to get, but it sounded too awesome not to. I'm a steak snob. I don't order steaks too often, but when I do I want it to be perfect. A pepper fried steak was not the steak I should of gotten. I ordered mine rear and it was more medium than anything. I was not impressed with the steak, but the Demi-glacé was quite nice, it packed a punch of flavor. The seasonal veggies were very good && I subbed a salad for my side and the boys got the mashed potatoes, which they said were good. It really depends on who the cooks are that night. My first time there I experienced one of the best steaks of my life. The next two time the food was bland and way over paid for my king crab. I just can't think of anything bad to say about my experience here. The views...just... WOW. Ill go back just for those. Calimari - large chunks and delicious. The Cajun sauce and the ginger wasabi sauce were very tasty, but I think the best part were the breaded jalapeño slices. The pasta had a thick tasty sauce and the prawns and scallops were huge. The veggies were cooked al dente and not overly salted. The cream cheese bacon spread with the complimentary bread was seriously interesting and tasty. I wonder if they sell it to go? We did the dessert thing. Just felt right. The cake was huge, moist, and had an Oreo on top! My wife even let me have a little piece of the Oreo. Service was exceptional. We glasses never empty. Every time I go here i try desperately to enjoy it, but every time it's a huge let down. My wife and I have now visited this restaurant 5 times and after so many bad experiences we will not be going back. We once were brought salad that was soaked in water, the plate was filled with it. When we sent it back they returned with dry salad that had not been washed and there was a dead fly in it. The horse radish is really terrible, so we started to bring our own from home. Last time it took us over 30 minutes to just get water after we had been seated, even longer to talk to a waiter. Something is always off! Never have we gone and everything went right, and after after 5 visits I believe this is just the norm. read more

Our server at Settlers Bay was wonderful! He was friendly and very professional. The drinks and apps are fantastic. Our group got a wide variety of things and everyone loved their items. We had the Kalabi steak (great sauce and slaw), mozzarella squares, and the calamari which was by far the best app. Unfortunately, the rest of our meal wasn't so great. The side risotto had no flavoring whatsoever. My lamb was cooked perfectly, but my friend's steak was cooked poorly and several of the steaks lacked flavor. We did love the love music and I'm sure there's a great view out the window during the day (we went at night during the winter). read more

I was really looking forward to eating here for the first time but sadly we came away very disappointed We had a reservation and we were even early but it took forever to be seated The waitress was pleasant but not very efficient It took 50 minutes to be served and they brought my salad with my steak, and by then the steak was cold and the Caesar salad was soggy People around us who came in 20-30 minutes after we did were served before we were and our order wasn't complicated The ordering station that fronted the kitchen was like a clown show of confusion between the wait staff, bus staff, etc My wife's stuffed prawns (they were actually shrimp in my book, not prawns) was ok but the vegetable medley was a disaster and they brought the wrong side dish All in all it was an expensive lesson and as others have said, that seems to be the trend out there read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the valley. The things that I truly appreciate about the valley restaurants vs Anchorage restaurants would be, not just the high standard quality of the food..but the amazing views to go with it..without the hustle and bustle of downtown. This restaurant has a very unique look to it. It's a classy chalet style restaurant that overlooks the bluffs. It's quite tucked away and if you are coming from Anchorage, it's quite the distance but well worth it. I love that it's extremely close to my home! They also cater as a wedding venue, events and banquets. They have an open kitchen area which I absolutely adore, I just feel "quality" if that can even be a feeling. The bar area is lovely and have a wide variety of spirits and a great signature cocktail menu. Mmm the food! So far, everything that I have tried here is amazing! My favorite is the lamb chimichurri with rice pilaf- I don't even know where to begin..it's...Divine. Though, the most recent visit (Father's Day) they ran out of it by the time I ordered. Yeah! I know! WTF! I couldn't function for a brief..3 minutes because it derailed my plans and my usual order. All good though! I came to it eventually and ordered the Havarti crusted ribeye..it saved the day from my usual order. Whew!! The ribeye was delicious! Also for appetizers we ordered the escargot and the Cajun butter steak tips? Bits? Anyways, it was all...crazy good! The chicken cordon bleu and chicken Oscar is outstanding too ( ordered these two items as a take out the day before! Ordered chicken Oscar because the next day was Father's Day and I made a reservation a week ago in hopes of nom noming on the lamb..but we see how that turned out..I get it though..still love this place). Service is always great, maybe because we come here quite often..we feel at home? Lol. The service is always welcoming, even the first time we walked through those doors.
