Anthony did an amazing job plating our outdoor shower in copper making my wife very happy!!

- Horrible workmanship - furniture is still pitted and rough under the paint. it looks like they completely skipped the sandblasting step and just primed and painted which i could have done myself for $200. i was charged $2,000. - Sub-standard paint job - lack of coverage on multiple pieces with the primer showing through. - Poor communication - weeks would go by with no response to email and phone call status requests. I would have to text his delivery person to get someone to communicate with me. - Wildly over-booked - promised the furniture would be ready "not too long" after april 5. I wasn't ready until july 31. - Delivered damaged - multiple pieces were arrived with chips in the paint. I was told to use the touch up paint they provided to fix it. Spend $2,000 with metal man to get sub-par work, unfinished paint coverage and damaged items after waiting 4 months never knowing when the delivery might happen. -------------------------------------------------------------- **Responding to anthony's response to the review - my foreman manny delivered the furniture on 8/25/2026, the furniture was wrapped in foam protectant and shrink wrap (which we do with all our final product either being picked up or delivered, and i have photos of the wrapped furniture). **See photos - there wasn't any foam protectant - it was wrapped in thin grocery shopping bag like paper and masking tape and shrink wrap. When the furniture was picked up, I was told for delivery it would be bubble wrapped and transported on a trailer. It was wrapped in paper and stacked in a pick up truck bed.** when the furniture was delivered and unwrapped by kathleen and manny, he explained this morning that she was happy with the three tables however her big concerns were the four chairs and one love seat. she was very unhappy with the pits on two of the chairs, the love seat/two chairs had some areas of under spray (missed paint which we missed in qc) and they found one small chip during transportation (we did provide kathleen with touch up paint which we requested). **Manny was aware there was not a single piece I was "happy" with. When I pointed out different areas of dissatisfaction, he just shook his head. As indicated in the review, he told me to use the touch up paint for the chips - multiple, not one.** kathleen was very upset and manny immediately offered to take back the four chairs and one loveseat, he even offered to call the office to speak with us where he explained we could offer discounts and he mentioned not to accept payment until the job was satisfied. **This is completely made up - no offer was made to call the office, take back furniture or not accept payment. The only offer was to keep $30 from the delivery fee for one of the chips. When he was done, I handed him the check that had been written prior to his arrival and his cash for delivery, gas & tolls.** kathleen, on the other hand after everything was unwrapped, said that she was ok with the issues and that she would reach the office on wednesday. **I never said I was satisfied, ok or happy with the work. The only conversation was about my displeasure with each piece. Each time I pointed out more, he said multiple times - I'm just the delivery guy.** we never heard from kathleen and manny never mentioned anything since he offered several solutions which she denied and she accepted the furniture as is and was going to contact us directly. so, manny did not mention anything until after i saw this review and confronted her. **I accepted the furniture because I want to be done with this and no solutions were offered (other than the $30 out of manny's pocket). Note the pictures below - the red chair and table - this is restoration work I did myself - an amateur. the chair had 5 coats of paint and was covered in rust. i hand sanded, primed and painted. This is smooth surface finish I expected from professionals as I was going to pay them to sandblast which has the same or better outcome and much faster than hand sanding.** with regards to communication, i have a total of 26 corresponding emails between march and august with kathleen, the only gap of communication i have with her is in may when i was away for 2 1/2 weeks and i did respond to her once i came back from vacation. we were in communication throughout the four months of the restoration with work statuses. ** The text message screenshots with Manny (the delivery person) are proof enough of the lack of communication. At the very beginning there were multiple emails because I kept adding to the project so I was sending pictures requesting quotes. There was communication at the end for color matching**. **Looking back at other 1-star reviews on how situations have been handled by Anthony, they always seem to go from bad to worse. After 4 months and $2,000 I am not willing to expend another ounce of energy or effort on this unfortunate situation. I'm done.** read more

I live in Southern California, and chose Metal Man Restoration in New York instead of local places on the basis of Yelp reviews, and have to confirm them - the results we got were spectacular. We received a brass Stiffel lamp 40 years ago as a wedding gift, and it was a corroded mess by the time I sent the pieces off to Anthony. I'd tried to clean it up, and only made it worse, polishing through the brass to the underlying casting in places. The quoting process was a snap - I took a couple of photos of the pieces, provided approx. diameters and total weight, and got back an estimate that was reasonable. Communication during the refinishing process wasn't so good; I had to e-mail a couple of times to get status, estimated completion dates, and information about the payment process. At the end, I filled out a credit charge authorization form, and got back a charge $20 higher than the estimate and authorized amount (you should clarify whether the estimate includes return shipping; next time I will). The pieces came back, beautifully refinished, polished, and laquered. I reassembled the lamp, and it's back in service, much better than it has been for the past 35 years! read more

Rather deal with someone who values their customers over frivolous excuses. Does this guy want business? It seems he could care less about doing any kind of work. I traveled from Albany NY to Mt Vernon with my 40 year old heavily tarnished Baker brass coffee table to have it restored by Metal Man Restoration. Boy, was it worth it! MMR did a tremendous job. The table looks new! This is one business I very highly recommend. MMR's expertise made all the difference. Anthony and his terrific employee (whose name I, unfortunately and apologetically, can't remember) determined that the table was solid brass except for the rounded corners and small connecting pieces on the legs, which needed to be replated. What a great job they did...and in a timely fashion to accommodate my schedule for traveling to pick it up. Just look at the before and after pictures (which I accidentally uploaded twice because I was trying to get them to appear in my review itself). I had 25 vintage chrome kitchen cabinet handles that I wanted to save when we renovated our kitchen and Anthony did a great job restoring them. We communicated entirely by email and Anthony was very responsive throughout the entire process. The workmanship -- stripping and replating -- was well worth the cost. There was a bit of confusion about when the job would be completed but it was handled quickly and to my satisfaction. My newly purchased house had likely 60-year-old, multiple sets of staircase railings. They were covered in at least one layer of peeling paint and looked pretty rough. Not expecting much, I emailed Metal Man and he was super responsive, sending pictures of a very similar railing renewal project he had just completed. After some quick negotiation via email we dropped the railings off and then Anthony worked his magic, stripping, sandblasting, and repainting everything, restoring them to their former glory. Or maybe they look even better than they did originally, I don't know! Besides doing quality work for a fair price, he was super communicative during the process, sending pictures and updates. He also completed work on-time (perhaps a day or two early, actually) and didn't try to charge for anything extra. I'm very happy with the results and also very impressed by Anthony's professionalism and passion. We moved into a new, very old house with radiators that were in bad shape, to say the least! I found Anthony from Metal Man and wow, amazing transformation as you can see in the before pic... Truly we were astonished when they were returned to us. Pick up and delivery by Manny was seamless, with great care taken to not bump walls or furniture. My understanding is that Anthony stripped the radiators by putting them into a large dipping tanks, then sandblasted them to a like-new finish, then pressure test and prime and paint with a marine primer and paint color of our choice. We wanted a cast iron look. We didn't want to hide our ratty radiators behind ugly boxes and now there are works of art in every room of our house! Highly recommend. read more

Brought in an old radiator that I wanted to do an oil rubbed bronze finish. This is somewhat of an unusual finish for a radiator but I wanted it to match my existing door and window hardware. I was informed that oil rubbed bronze is an oxidation process and that the paint may not match exactly, but they would try their best, and that they did. I am so pleased with the finished product and would highly recommend Metal Man Restoration to breathe new life into your old and ugly radiators or light fixtures. read more

Avoid working with Metal Man if you have a radiator you'd like to use again. Anthony cleaned and painted two radiators for us. When he brought them back, the one for our daughter's room released acrid, chemical fumes that lasted for weeks. Anthony picked up the radiator to repaint it. However, he stopped replying to many emails (or made excuses) and did not find time to bring it back for several months (through the coldest months of the year). When he did bring it back, the smell was even worse--absolutely unlivable. Like rotting hay mixed with acid that burns your throat. We are now planning to get rid of this radiator and buy a new one. This was a horrible odyssey for us. Don't waste your time or money. read more

Large companies could learn a thing or two from this place in regards to first-class customer service. It would be enough to say something nice about their craftsmanship, which was excellent, but the level of customer service I experienced was fantastic. These folks went the extra mile to take care of my prized brass bankers scale. They sent detailed photos in a couple of emails (without me even asking). They called with status updates and were just a pleasure to work with. I picked my scale up on Saturday and was blown away by the transformation. I wanted to restore a pair of radiators in an NYC apt that I bought. Desired to remove the radiator box/cover to create more space and to have beautiful radiators to display. I searched around NYC for restorators but could only find shops that spray coat radiators, which would make them look ordinary. Metal Man was a bit farther away, but restoring radiators the right way is what they do best. (Actually, the delivery cost to move the radiators from my apt and back was only slightly more expensive than a shop in the Bronx. And Manny was very organized, courteous, and the painted radiators came back well wrapped and protected; he moved them right inside my apt). The result was truly transformational, and the color matched my selected Farrow & Ball Off-Black perfectly. Margarita, the paint specialist, was great to work with. Had been texting with them for a year. Bed needed tightening and cleaning. Sent photos, received quote, all kinds of assurances, etc. When I finally could get off work to have them come and I called to schedule date, I was told they don't do the service I requested. Had this hideous screeching women on the phone telling me it was impossible, 'they don't do that'...insisting I had to have bed taken apart and sent to their workshop for restoration. Restoration was not required...so be careful if you decide to use them. Great photos and website, but photos can be deceiving. Also, their staff needs major attitude check. Needless to say, the project never happened. I guess God does work in mysterious way. Be careful with these people. I really don't even want to give them the one star but I have to in order to write this review. read more

We used Metal Man to restore a large, restaurant hood rescued from an old diner. We loved the curved shape but it had sat in a garage for 20 years before we decided to put it in our kitchen remodel. Metal Man did and EXCELLENT job! They even helped us configure the commercial grade exhausts in it. They make us chase them down for answers and work to be completed WHICH THEY ARE CONTRACTED TO, and LAUGH when we call to follow up with them. The only time we can ever get in touch with these frauds is when we call them from phone numbers they don't recognize or we show up there. This review has been a long time coming. A number of years ago, we needed our 1932 cast iron radiator refinished. We were able to refinish our other radiators due to their size but this radiator was too large for us to handle. After attempting to find someone in the Philadelphia area, we finally stumbled on to Metal Man who happened to be doing some work in Philadelphia. Their charge for an 18 rung radiator to be stripped and painted was between $600-700. However, their charge for pick-up was $300. and their charge for delivery was an additional $300.00. After a number of months, our rad was finally returned to us. Foolishly, we failed to examine the rad when it was returned (It was wrapped in plastic) thinking that these guys were professionals and, based on previous reviews, that it must be nicely done. However, when we finally removed the wrapping, we were shocked. About 15% of the old paint was still attached to the radiator. There were paint drips throughout and many sections between the rungs were not painted. They also failed to use the paint color I had requested. As a result, we called Metal Man and received a lot of lip service from Mr. Anthony Guglielmo telling us that their work was excellent and that none of this was caused by them. After telling him that I had before and after photos of the rad, he agreed to pick up the rad to re-do. However, we would have to eat an additional $600. for another pick-up and delivery. Because we couldn't do the rad ourselves, we agreed. Again, months later, the rad was returned. Since it was late in the day and we were not going to pay another $600.00 for pick-up and delivery if it wasn't done right the second time, we sent the delivery team on their way without checking the rad. We really thought that the rad must now be in perfect shape since there was the original issue and, as a result, Metal Man would do their best to make it right this time around. Boy, were we wrong. Firstly, they had wrapped the rad in plastic before the paint had cured. When we went to remove the plastic, the sides and front rungs of the radiator were all alligatored due to the plastic wrap adhering to the wet/soft paint. A lot of the alligatored paint came off with the plastic. Plus, the front of the radiator had between 2-3 paint drips per rung (the back was o.k., by the way), all four legs had rust coming through the paint and, again, many sections between the rings were not primed and/or painted. As a result, I had to sand down to bare metal, prime and paint the legs, rungs and complete sides of the rad. Since I didn't know what brand or color paint they used since it wasn't what I requested, I had to try and mix paint colors to match the rest of the radiator. Bottom line: We should have checked the rad the first time and definitely the second time so that the delivery team could hear of our disappointment and see the quality of their shop's work. For us, Metal Man's workmanship was shoddy at best. Also, they should have picked up and delivered the radiator the second time free of charge since they failed to refinish it right the first time. They also used a clean metal primer over rusted metal which is probably why the rust was coming through the paint. Never again. Unless you live near this company and can see the quality of their work in person/check on your project before delivery, I strongly suggest you pass them by. read more

We purchased Kohler Brockway sinks for a new house we were building but the finishes and faucets for this sink are exclusive and only come in a polished chrome finish. We are doing uncoated polished brass so they will patina over time. We worked with Anthony at Metal Man who was fantastic in explaining the process but more importantly kept us posted throughout the process including sending us photos of the process and did an incredible job on the faucets, drains and soap dish. Being new to this process, even though it was a small job, having someone who patiently helped us through this process was reassuring. We were so happy with the outcome, we're going to have Metal Man do another small faucet for us to complete our project. Lastly, I have to say we compared prices - and not only was the quality right, we had the confidence they would do the job right, Metal Man's prices were completely reasonable. read more
