We ordered a flounder sandwich, a crab cake sandwich a pint of clam chowder and a piece of cake for $48. The crab cake sandwich was the best part, it was made up of crabmeat and no fillers but it could definitely use some seasoning and the same with the flounder sandwich it was a nice size sandwich but it was very bland. My family and I have been stopping here for over 20 years on our way to visit family on the eastern shore, and Metompkin Seafood has never disappointed. I usually order a fish sandwich, which is lightly breaded and fried to perfection. I've also ordered their seafood platter, which includes a homemade crab cake, 2 pieces of fried fish, 4 fried shrimp, small scallops, cole slaw, hush puppies, and fries! All that seafood for just $17! My only complaint is that their hours aren't consistent. Some times they close earlier than they advertise or may even be completely closed on days they're supposed to be open. My advise is to call ahead to make sure they are open. Nothing worse than driving 4 hours looking forward to delicious fried fish sandwich, only to pull into their parking to see that they are closed. read more

One of our must-stop places when we visit Chincoteague! The soft shell crab is always cooked perfectly and even my toddler enjoys crunching on a leg or two. As others have said, looks don't mean anything as far as quality goes. I really enjoy the hand painted signs they have; it gives the place character. We also appreciate the rocking chairs they have inside for locals and tourists to relax while they wait. I did have one bite before I left, and had to turn around and go back in to tell the owner how good it was. I'm a southern boy, raised in a "if it ain't fried it ain't cooked" household, and I've got to say these folks know what they're doing. The breading was light and flavorful, the clams were perfectly done, the crab cake even though fried wasn't the least bit greasy, the slaw was great, the fries were some of the best I've ever had, and I can't even attempt to describe the hush puppies. She LOVES the prepared and fresh seafood at Metompkin Seafood, so I give the owner and his wife a call twice a year, they charge my credit card, and call my aunt to let her know her credit is ready. Then she can go in whenever she likes and they keep a record of how much credit she has left. It allows me to give her a gift she adores, and makes things easy for me. I've been stopping here for over 15 years whenever I'm on the Eastern shore hunting or working on our deer leases. The Seafood dinner platter is really good but a lot of food. The challenge is deciding on lunch, fish & chips, oyster sandwich, soft-shell crab sandwich... and on and on. I've never had a bad meal and love to munch the fries on the way back to the hunt camp. I take them home and freeze them. At $3.95 each you can't go wrong. If you need a platter you don't go wrong with $12.95 for fish, crab cake, oysters, and scallops.
