I've eaten at the Metro Diner several times and keep going back. They have a breakfast menu and a lunch/dinner menu. It's a diner, so everything looks a bit hectic, but it's really carefully organized chaos. The staff are very friendly and anxious to engage in a bit of fun. The food is always good and the portions are generous. Prices are also reasonable. You might have to wait a few minutes for a table because at times they fill up. Once seated however, service is quick. I was with a group of 10 some of us ordered breakfast others had lunch. Our meals came out quickly, all together, and hot. Yesterday I had breakfast. I ordered biscuits and gravy. It comes with two biscuits, two eggs, and hash browns. It was very filling. I was sated for the rest of the day and into the evening. Breakfast with Friend this morning... Got western omelette...eggs were cooked then extremely small amount of 3 pieces of cubed ham, few semi raw onions and 2 tiny pieces of bell peppers all of which were cold ! NO cheese eggs flipped over with a spoon of salsa over !!! Served cold little rubbery!!! Coffee was black water Absolutely horrible waste of $20 Hashbrowns were good ! What a breakfast! We came in for the soft opening fundraiser for Helping Hands on Sunday. I ordered the red, white and blue waffle with strawberries, blueberries and whipped cream. The waffle was perfectly cooked crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The fruit was fresh and sweet like they were height of the season fresh from down the road. The mega pancake was huge and yummy! Try it with the strawberry butter. The hashbrowns were good. I will ask for mine more done next time. I like a little brown on my potatoes. The food all came out in an expected amount of time with appetizing presentation. The servers were still in training, but provided attentive service. We could hear the trainers providing tips to the trainees every now and then to make sure the fast paced breakfast service flowed smoothly. FYI-They have a bar and open at 7am. When i visit my dad, we go out to Metro Diner at least twice for breakfast. Service, quality and quantity of food is absolutely wonderful. Last time we had the Huevo rancheros and the chicken and waffles. Both were beyond yum!! The Huevo Ranchos had little fried jalapeños that were so tasty and the chips that they build it on are absolutely delicious. The chicken and waffles is totally worth the wait. Best fried chicken I have ever had and the strawberry butter with the waffles is outstanding! read more

We love this place! Cool brunches and very interesting combination bowls. Egg, avacado, bacon with hollandaise sauce for instance.

Yet another try for Metro. This will be my last. I ordered the western omelette, home fries and a biscuit. To drink I ordered a tea & a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary was ok, the tea was very good but I found myself once again underwhelmed by the food. Nothing inside the omelette was cooked. The onions and peppers were raw. The cheese wasn't even melted- what tiny amount there was. There was so little cheese it wasn't even discernible. The biscuit was overcooked and dry and the home fries had zero seasoning. Was so happy to stumble upon this diner in the days after Hurricane Helene. We had no power, couldn't find anything open, and I was super hungry. I ended up coming here two days in a row. Classic dinner dining in a 50's style decor with a Multi page menu. Breakfast is our favorite here with excellent pancakes! However they have plenty of lunch and dinner options as well offering specials regularly. They're large dine at bar and signature cocktails are also impressive. If you're feeling in the mood for some good old fashion diner food this is the place! Plenty of parking available however they do get quite busy but have never had to wait more than five minutes for a table. read more

Being from The northeast and on our last day of visiting with family, we were in need of a southern lunch stat! With COVID numbers climbing, the restaurant we had planned to go to was closed due to a server contacting the virus. After calling several places, they were either closed-it was the shoulder hour between lunch and dinner or just no availability, we decided to check out Metro, since diners are a 'thing' in NJ. And we are so glad that we did!! My husband had been craving chicken and waffles since we arrived so after downing a $3 Bloody Mary, which by the way, you can NOT get any cocktail for less than $9 back home, he dove into his generously portioned dish. Wow-the chicken was so moist due to the brining and the coating was delicious! Enough to make this Yankee want to trade a New England lobster roll for southern fried chicken any day of the week! I had the shrimp and grits which was also delicious! The grits were served as cakes atop the shrimp and white gravy sauce. Sooo good! My brother in law is a chef in the Aiken area-he had a burger and he said it was wonderful-served warm rare to his liking. Our server, Mark, was the fastest southern talker and provided the fastest service that I encountered in my 5 day trip to Georgia and SC. He was great! Whew! Now that's what I call a breakfast! Because they have it printed on the window, advertised on the placemat and featured in the menu, I had to order the Chicken & Waffle! It did not disappoint! Half of a chicken and a Belgian waffle! Surprisingly, the food came quick!! And I was able to order "all dark meat".. sweet! The strawberry butter looked like ice cream and the server made me some spicy syrup! The chicken was juicy and tasty, looked like it was marinated in buttermilk. The waffle was great, I can do without the powdered sugar though. Next time, I'll try something else. read more

This is a fun family diner. There are typical, heartwarming dishes such as fried chicken, but one hefty meal combines it with pancakes. Come hungry, as their portions are very generous. While their menu has lots of variety, I don't find it inspirational. Our group of 12 got seated quickly, and our waitress was attentive. The kitchen isn't set yo to fix that many meals together, so we got our meals piecemeal, as they were ready. We sent breakfast back as it was cold when it finally got picked up at the window (Iggy watched the plates for at least 10 minutes). I have been approximately 5 times. (Peer pressure)I have had 3 less than good meals. The cook staff is not well trained. For example serving brown avocado toast , scraping the sludge from the bottom of a container and serving it covered up with mashed potatoes. They can't accommodate more than 3 guests at a time! Ask them it's "policy " 3 orders go into kitchen at a time. So food for a group comes out in stages. You know what, after writing this I'm changing my stars from 3 to 2 ! read more
