This is an order when you go in and they bring the food to you restraunt. Serve yourself drink bar. There is a lot of art from local artists on the walls which is for sale. I ordered the hashbrowns with jalapeños, American cheese, sausage, and two over easy eggs on top. The jalapeños were seeded so you had a little heat with a lot of flavor. The restraunt was busy but it only took about 10 minutes for our food to get to the table. The hashbrowns were crisp on the outside and tender inside. The eggs were cooked perfectly. I had the salad plate with chicken salad and fruit salad as a side. The chicken salad is very good! It's shredded chicken with grapes and celery, I thought the mayo to chicken ratio was spot on: not dry at all but not too much mayo either. Veggies were fresh and the fruit salad was decent. This is the most unassuming little hidden gem in Aiken. From the storefront, and to some degree even the inside, you'd never know this was a place where you can find what might be the best burger in Aiken. I wouldn't say it's the nicest looking place to eat, but it gets the job done and the outdoor seating is very nice! They have a variety of different breakfast and lunch foods, but the burger, and specifically the Shelly burger, is where they really shine in my opinion. This is a huge burger, packed with pimento cheese and flavour that you can't miss out on. Prices are really good for the food and being downtown. Great breakfast spot! Breakfast plate comes with a couple eggs, toast, meat and a side. Enjoyed everything I had and it was very filling..even took some home for leftovers. I really hoped this visit would be great. Breakfast is mediocre at its best. Biscuits don't rise and are very hard. Hash brown serving was very small. Bacon good and plentiful. We asked for regular coffe cups and were told they were out of them. Found some in main dining room. When food was brought a person asked for silverware and staff member said, "You have to get it yourself!" We asked for an additional plate and member pointed to another guests grits and said there was one under her grits. We share food sometimes and it is not uncommon to request another plate. You don't want a saucer from a cup of grits. I don't understand why the staff can be so rude. It was from two people on this visit. It will be a while before I return. I really hope they improve things soon. We need a great breakfast place. Rude staff is not the way to go. read more

Nice little breakfast place with very friendly staff. Walk in and order at the counter.... Then sit down. As I noted staff was super nice but the food was just So-so. Nothing out of the park good but nothing terribly bad other than the drip coffee which needed some work I believe. The blueberry pancakes and the Grits were wonderful. The blueberry pancakes were very big I expected him to be a bit smaller and the Griz were I believe Yellowstone grit but either way they were great. Nice breakfast and lunch restaurant located in downtown Aiken. I had the fish sandwich. No lie the best fish sandwich I've ever had. Cod freshly battered with tasty seasoning. I normally don't eat fish sandwiches because it's either prepackaged fish or just not done right but was very happy about the quality. My only gripe is they don't serve breakfast til closing. I went there wanting a late breakfast but it was a no go. They stop serving breakfast at 11 on Saturdays earlier on weekdays. I've been here several times and have always been pleased. This is a breakfast/lunch diner. The atmosphere is laid back but not slouchy. When you go to dine in, go in the door on the left. The door on the right is for take out. The menu is on the wall behind the counter, where you order and pay. You are given a number and find a table. Your food is bought out to you. The staff are well dressed, clean and well groomed. This is important to me. Friendly goes without saying. You'll see a lot of chit chat between tables. Many times the people don't even know each other. It's just that kind of place. I haven't had anything there that wasn't delicious. My favorite breakfast is a half order of biscuits and gravy, two eggs and grits. Portions are very generous. Prices are reasonable. All in all, in addition to being a good dinning experience it is also a good diner experience. Warm, relaxing, and friendly are a winning combination. Give it a try. read more

I was craving breakfast and it was 10am... I Yelped breakfast near downtown Aiken and What's Cookin was at the top of the list. I hadn't ever been inside, but I'd had their food at several events before. I went to the door on the right to place my take out order. I waited for a bit before someone came to the counter. I placed my order and grabbed some pasta salad from the fridge. It took about 10 minutes for my biscuit to get done. Everyone was super nice while I was waiting, they get an extra star for that. I was thinking my biscuit was fresh baked since it took that long...it wasn't, but it was warm, homemade, and tasty. It was a bit too hard for my liking, but still satisfied my craving. Yesterday was "half and half", I got half of a pimento cheese sandwich (it was huge and the white bread felt and tasted like it was freshly baked)with a toss Garden salad. (not just plain lettuce but a nice variety of nice green, fresh lettuce, cucumbers, carrots, 2 peppers with my dressing on the side.) Came with chips and a cup of fruit salad. As far as cleanliness it was spotless. EVERYONE had a mask on and wearing it properly, and customers were required to wear a mask if not at their table.
