The food was absolutely amazing! I think we ran into a little bad luck with our table being right next to the "RUNNER!" caller. Maybe if they had a light that would flicker instead of having someone scream right next to you, then it would be better. Also our appizer was forgotten about because they were so packed. Originally from Jacksonville, so I was extremely excited to DoorDash when I found out about this location. However, was met only with disappointment when I received my food. Biscuits with gravy, or rather sausage water, imagine pouring Campbell's chicken and stars on a biscuit if you need a visual. I recently had the pleasure of eating at Metro Diner. The food was great and so was the service. My server Jackie literally has a hard on for Metro Diner and she's a woman. She takes her job so seriously and loves giving the customers a great experience. I had the Chicken Avocado Wrap, and let me tell you, I was not disappointed by this delicious entree. Also, please enjoy those sweet spoonfuls of their clam chowder. It really is a great way to warm up on a brisk, wintry day. Metro Diner gets a 10/10 in my book. I will be back. It took a few minutes for our waitress to greet us, and get our drinks, but other than that the service was great. I got the french dip sandwich and my boyfriend got a burger. It did take a while for the food to come out when it wasn't very busy, but the onion rings I got were amazing. Also very tight, confined tables and poor acoustics. Could not even have a conversation over the noise. I had to call 2 times, and first time I was placed on hold for 10 minutes then when I hung up and called back and told the hostess who put me on hold that I had been waiting on the line for 10 minutes she was like "really??" First time I went I got the blt with double bacon, eh, ALOT of thick bread. NOT much bacon. Bloody Mary had soooo much horse radish in it I didn't even drink it, and was expensive for such a small glass. Second time I ordered a Rueben. First bite I find boiled eggs in my mouth. Spit it out, second bite, boiled eggs. W.T.F?! Asked the waitress and she had no idea why it was in there. Asked the manager and he confirmed that they made the sauce with boiled eggs. YUCK!! This food was some of the best food I've had since I moved to the area 3 years ago! I'm sad it's taken us (me and my husband) this long to find this amazing place! We ordered chicken and waffles, and Charles shrimp and grits. The chicken was juicy as hell and crisped to perfection! Not overly or under done. I'm telling you... perfection The waffle was its own entity to be reckoned with! It had strawberry butter on it ya'll. When I say this is the best frickin waffle please believe me... That strawberry butter was just the touch it needed to push the waffle over the edge of deliciousness the shrimp and grits was something I've never seen. I live right down the street from metro and I gotta say, I'm happy to have a good diner in the neighborhood. It's crazy busy most of the time right now but it's only been open for like 6 months. Once some of the newness has worn off that may change. It is a little more expensive than say IHOP but it's worth it. The chicken and waffles are supposed to be amazing and I plan on getting it some time. When I went though, my wife and I were in the mood for a burger. The waitress asked how we wanted them cooked. My wife is good with medium and that's fine for McD's but given the choice I prefer it done just enough to kill the mad cow bugs. I've been to a few places that ask u how u want it, then either the cook has no idea what rare means or doesn't care. I don't like to send stuff back usually because it's not that big a deal as long as it's not crispy and also it's just gonna pi*s off the cook and I don't like eating food made by someone who hates me. Anyway, Metro got it right. Done just enough to kill the bugs and give it a "cooked" texture. If it still feels mushy like raw hamburger, not done or safe. I never seem to be able to give a quick review, but that's what the stars are for I guess. Bottom line, food good, will go again. That's caveman Jay's take... later. read more

Disappointed. I called in a large takeout order and upon arrival, I had to stand in a line where people were placing take out orders as well as picking up. I was third in line and I waited 17 minutes before I finally got to the cashier, all the while my order is sitting there boxed and ready to go. When I got home, I noticed the order wasn't complete. They left the chicken and waffles out completely, what we did have was cold food. Money wasted. read more

The food is very good, but compared to Suffolk it is mediocre. The service the last two time we have been here have been good. Then we had a Kelly or Kelsey as our waitress. I can describe her as Caucasian, short with dark hair. First, the hostess directed us to our table and then we waited...almost 20 minutes for someone to finally notice us (not even half capacity). Kelly or Kelsey then took our order quickly, then delivered our food and just dropped the bill to never return. After 30 minutes, we had to get the attention of the hostess for refills, sauce the waitress forgot to give us with the chicken and napkins. After we ate, we could not get anyones attention for to-go boxes, we had to walk up to the cashier and ask. Then after our waitress finally came back almost an hour after serving our food, we gave her our card to pay the bill. As we left, the waitress was on her phone ignoring other customers at the hostess podium. We will not be coming to this location again. read more

Omg my favorite restaurant in greenbrier area! It's a scratch kitchen so everything is made to order and tastes like the hometown diners I miss! It's hard to find great food outside of VB or Norfolk and this is seriously an amazing place to go! The vibe is great and low key and the staff are so kind and considerate!
