We ordered two Belgium Waffle meals, one order of french toast with strawberries, and one biscuit gravy meal with eggs and they all came out great and in great timing. I'm a big coffee guy so I do judge coffee heavily, however unless it's very terrible, i don't let it affect star rating. This coffee is B tier, it's what you'd expect from a diner, it's decent but nothing special. They do give you a cool kettle so that you can just refill your coffee right there if you need a top off or a second cup. Overall it's a great place to grab breakfast and i'd totally recommend it. The food was the main take away from this place along with the clean but ranch style ambience. If i could give it a 4.5 star i would because i rarely do 5's. read more

Me and the Wife had This visit planned for a month, She really was looking forward to eating here.. Well the waitress brought my wife's food 2 eggs bacon, Potatoes and bread.. The waitress was like"They broke the first eggs so it's your lucky day you get 2 more for free"... A great thing except the Broken ones were Runny and undercooked, And the extra ones were Snotty and undercooked.. So I complained for the Wife against her wanting to just deal with it.. Well the Waitress as nice as she was Brought 2 more eggs.. And The last 2 were even more Raw than the other 4.. So 6 undercooked Almost raw eggs.. Then the Potatoes she was served tasted like someone spilled salt on them and the bacon was also undercooked.. So She didn't eat anything but the bread.. I caught them around 2 PM just before close on MLK Day. I was immediately seated in a booth with menus and silverware. The dining room was tidy with prep prior to closing. My waitress may a few suggestions from a new Winter menu that just pushed last Tuesday. However, the chimichurri steak with hash on the specials board looked too good to pass up. I added Millionaire bacon. My bacon pushed out just prior to my main. This bacon is everything! I love it! My steak was delivered soon after and looked stunning and huge! It protector be quite scrumptious too! I would absolutely recommend. My waitress checked in on me and brought the check just before finishing. Checkout was good. My first time at First Watch and it did not disappoint. Great vibes and a menu, that had something for everyone. I started with the Honey Caramel Crunch Iced Coffee, and wow... this was a treat. It's made with salted caramel and honey, topped with sweet cream cold foam and finished with toffee nut crumbles. Sweet but not too sweet, super smooth, and honestly the kind of iced coffee you sip and immediately think, "okay yes, this is happening today." If you like flavored coffee but don't want it to taste artificial, this is the move. For food, I went with the Farmhouse Hash, and it was exactly what I was craving. Two eggs any style (I went over easy) on top of seasoned potatoes with bacon, avocado, roasted onions and tomatoes, plus cheese. Everything was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. It's hearty without being too heavy, and the whole grain toast on the side was great for scooping up all the good stuff. Service was quick and genuinely friendly, which is always appreciated, especially during breakfast hours when places can get slammed. Liked the 2 carafes of water, disliked the baby cups lol. Pumpkin donuts (3/5 stars, $7) were sweet and warm with delicious cream and caramel sides but lacked pumpkin flavor. Maple croissant (3/5, $14) had yummy skillet potatoes, "million dollar bacon" , chicken sausage, egg and jalapeños but all were overpowered by the generous amount of jam. Wife enjoyed her biscuits and gravy, son enjoyed his pumpkin pancake breakfast, all others liked their food but were too hungry to take pics before eating (yes, they lost YelpDad cool points). My family and I are a huge fans of First Watch. We go several times a week. We love the Landstown Commons location and never have any issues. Love the staff food and drinks. Went to the VA Beach Blvd location and had raw chicken sausages come out. Then the pancakes were not cooked it was wet and gooey. Our waitress was amazing and new so I do not blame her at all. She did her best communicating with the manager Sandy. She advised her manager said they'll remake it. Then proceeded to bring out burnt chewy sausages. Then brought out pancakes that was not cooked again. The manager never came over but told our waitress to tell us the best she can do is $5 off. Never tried to remake the food again and the manager had an attitude rolling her eyes at us. First watch in Landstown Commons never lets us down. read more

I met a friend I had not seen in over 20 years at this place per her recommendation and we had the best time catching up. The waitress Samantha was SIMPLY AMAZING - she took our orders ( after helping us decided on what the dishes were called " as a result of us telling her what our taste buds were craving. She was very knowledgeable about the menu. The food came out in a timely manner and she continue to attend to us as we ate and fellowshipped. This place is growing on me. This is the first time at this location, on a lunch date with my oldest son. Loved the bacon and avocado toast and eggs. I could've enjoyed just one piece of toast and would have been fine. The mountain of avocado wasn't expected, but it was appreciated. My son got the breakfast burrito and pancakes after seeing a plate go by. He immediately asked what it was, and said "I want that". I took my husband for breakfast for his birthday thinking we would have a great experience and to my surprise it was awful the young lady that greet us maybe took offense that we ask to seat by the window (mind the table facing the window needed cleaning) with so much attitude wiped the table, left it all wet and almost slammed the coffee mugs to the table (no coffee and not for awhile) we waited for a bit then finally got coffee the new server was friendly, took our order when the order came the eggs were cold, ham burned and the waffle was burned ‍ my husband was hungry so didn't complain but his food looked same as mine. There was nothing Trifecta of these two plates. They did remake the waffle and ham but by them the whole experience was gone. I've had great experiences at other First Watch locations before, and I expected the same from this one. our large group was seated fairly quickly (around 15 minutes) when I put my name down 15 min prior, which was impressive. However, the food quality of the eggs benedict I ordered was horrible. The plate was drenched in hollandaise sauce, and one of the muffins was even missing an egg! The second eggs looked barely cooked and was just running all over the plate. I brought this to the attention of the waitress, who brought out a second plate by the end we were about to leave. This time there were two eggs, but the quality of the eggs was still practically inedible and it was still drenched in hollandaise sauce. This was probably the worst eggs benedict I've ever had. I'm giving them 2 stars because at least they didn't end up charging us for the eggs benedict since neither was edible. read more

I happened upon this place while I was waiting for a doctor appointment, and I'm glad I took the time to try it out. The hostess was extremely nice and sat me immediately, wherein a matter of seconds I was served with a glass of water, and queried if I would enjoy some fresh brewed coffee. I agreed to a warm brew and a menu. The service here was fast and friendly...so when I asked Morgan for a breakfast sandwich I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly my food came out. Also, Morgan was on her game...ensuring my half and half was restocked (she's an awesome server by the way) The breakfast sandwich was pretty good. It had bacon, sausage, arugula, cheese, and for a touch of sweetness...honey drizzled over it. Talk about a nice little breakfast to keep you full for the morning! I was just there yesterday and already want to go back. My meal was amazing!!! We were sat immediately and Megan took care of us. I got the 2 for you with a Roast Beef and Haverti sandwich and a Cobb Salad. My friend got the Smoked Salmon and Roast Veggie Frittata. Oh my that parmesan crusted sour dough was freaking amazing!!! The roasted tomatoes, the onions....it was perfection. It came with a side of horseradish dressing which I didn't even use or need. And I love horseradish. The Cobb Salad was a nice size and very fresh. It came with ranch, I would have preferred blue cheese but they only have 4 dressings. It was definitely enough for me and I could barely finish it but I was determined not to leave one bite of deliciousness on my plate. My friend said her frittata was really good too. I really need to come on a more regular basis. The food is so fresh and healthy. They don't use plastic straws which I love. The only thing is that you have to go up to the one register to pay rather than your server. I could see on a busy day that there could be a wait. First Watch is good. Real good. They also have a huge menu with breakfast, brunch, and lunch. It's seasonal, it rotates in-season and fresh items, it changes often but keeps the core favorites. There are several locations in Hampton Roads and this is the most central, right off Virginia Beach Blvd and near Hobby Lobby (for ref.) so it's central and easy to get to with plenty of parking and indoor seating. I had to drop my car off for a quick oil-change and came here with my boyfriend last week for breakfast while we waited. Mid-week early AM it wasn't busy at all so we were immediately seated at a large and open booth. At the time, they were still doing half capacity with social distancing between the tables. I chose to try something a bit more healthy this time than in the past and went with the oatmeal bowl with a fresh daily muffin. The oatmeal was OK but nothing spectacular - it said it was covered with some kind of overnight marinated berries which I took to mean compote but it was only a few slices of banana and strawberry.... so I did ask for compote on the side and they brought it. Not the most impressive - and my muffin was cold I thought it would be fresh and warm, I believe I've had it warmed before so you can probably request that. My boyfriend tried the scramble with eggs and potatoes and veggies and avocado and it was a huge portion, way more than he could eat. He enjoyed it. In the past I've tried their pancakes, million dollar bacon and a few other seasonal items and have always enjoyed them. They feature seasonal healthy juice blends as well as house coffee and cold brew. So they have a lot to choose from and the inside is welcoming and contemporary farmhouse decor. I'm a fan! read more

First Watch does it again! They've quickly made their way into our brunch rotation. Go early, because there WILL be a wait-- but doesn't every good breakfast spot? The thing we love about First Watch are their seasonal items and specials. We almost never even look at the regular menu and just go off the big chalkboard in the back. And if you're a lover of First Watch like us, then you know their holiday menu was BANGING. From the gingerbread donuts, to the Cinnamon Chip Pancake Breakfast, to that Barbacoa Breakfast Burrito! I mean look at it all! Everything came out quickly, hot and fresh. Oh, and we can't forget about their iced coffee. Absolutely bomb. They also have breakfast cocktails (bloody Mary's, mimosas, etc), as well as an array of juices. This location is great-- lots of parking options either directly by the building or in the shopping center next door. The restaurant is clean, with rustic decor. The only downside is if you're a party of 2, the smaller 2-top tables in the middle of the restaurant are small (like really small) and pretty close together. First--I love the vibe--the decor was cool. We went on a Tuesday morning--got seated right away--usually it's packed and I always see a line of people waiting. I'm glad we didn't have to wait but now I know why it's so popular. My husband wanted to try an egg white omelet. They don't use a carton of egg whites. They actually separate the whites from the eggs and that makes a big difference in the texture and taste. He enjoyed his eggs--filled with chorizo and cheese. I had the French toast and we shared the fancy bacon. The price was a bit $$ but I'd say it's comparable to other places that use quality/fresh ingredients. Th menu looks so inviting. I've been to this first watch a couple of times and I've had similar experiences at each visit, so this is a good summary of my overall impression. I've been fortunate to stop in during off-peak times - usually during the week around 8 or 9. This usually affords me an immediate table without waiting, which I like! The staff seems to be doing a great job managing Covid restrictions - the hostess stand is in the entry way. The tables are more than 6' apart, masks are required, and there is a dedicated staff member to clean and sanitize tables after diners leave. They still have a large table by the front where all take-out/delivery orders are placed.. and there are a lot of them at time! I sort of take an issue with this (same as the mobile pick up area of a Starbucks) - I don't want random strangers touching/moving my bag/cup to look at a label or receipt to see if it's theirs. For this reason, I will personally avoid carry-out unless I place the order there and make sure the staff hands me what's mine. Yes, I'm incredibly type A, a healthcare worker, and just doing my best to be considerate of others. But I digress. I was dining recently around 9 on a weekday with 2 friends. We were seated right away and received our coffee quickly. It took a while for us to decide on our entrees, but our server was kind enough to come back. My friends both had pumpkin pancakes, which looked delicious. I ordered one of my usuals - the healthy turkey. My recommendation remains from my previous review: more veggies, less cheese. The amount of cheese is just overwhelming for the other ingredients. And there isn't always consistency. This morning's omelet was scant compared to previous. Certainly not worth the $10+ it costs. I do always like the whole wheat toast - hearty and delicious with the fresh strawberry preserves. It didn't take long to receive our entrees, but after we did, our server pretty much disappeared. She never came back to check on us until we were nearly finished. We had drained our coffee pot prior to our meal and I was hoping for a top off before breakfast arrived to no avail. Experience here is good enough for me to return, but this location still needs some work in the service department and there is room for improvement in the food. read more
